Why this city is so organized? There's security there? I can't imagine how the people didn't stole the houses stuff. If I was there and has no security I would steal nothing, but it's sure that I would play that pool, open the trunk, try to turn on the truck, try to put gas in my car with that bomb, dress the coat in the house, poop in the restroom, try to find some unfinished beer at the bar, sleep like a king in different houses for a week, infinity possibilities!
Really enjoyed your video! I've been to Bodie several times, and I'm already looking forward to going back again someday. I also put a Bodie slideshow together and posted it about a week ago. Amazing how many of the same shots we have!
sh....t i missed all these towns when i ,was cruising true death valley last week,i looked for abandoned mines en g towns but didn't find any of them,i thought we could see them from the main road marked on a plate or something but nothing...back in belgium and i checked on you tube and what do i see...mines en g town pfff,i better looked before i went there, but we had a normal car not a suv or 4 wheel drive to go offroad!!grtzzz danny
I visited Bodie in 1979 while I was in the High Sierras. I remember there being cattle grazing freely throughout the town. You could walk up to these huge animals and they wouldn't even run or anything. I also remember reading how the town burned down in the early 1900's. Originally, the town's name was Body but everyone mispronounced it, so they change the spelling to Bodie. I remember reading it was a tough town. About 1 killing a day.
I'm curious, is Bodie supervised or run by anyone or can you just go there randomly at anytime? What if someone choose to want to live there...could they? I'm not personally interested in living there, just wondering if Bodie is privately owned by someone.
I love the old wil wild west of Nevada and parts of California :) i used to live in Reno i miss it so much i live in Washington now and im so homesick no wild wild west it sucks thanks for the vid brings back lots of great memories.
@pArtYaNImAaL= It's a figure of speech. They call it a ghost town, because it's a shadow of it's former self. I sure would loved to have seen it in it's prime.
The brick building there was my great, great, great grandma Johnson's, she is buried there.... my great, great grandfather and my great, great uncle are both buried there.....
It is nice to know the family history, but why couldn't grandman Johnson have had a hotel in the little community of Los Angeles instead of Bodie.... lol... I could be a Hilton now.
Amazing photos, we are going to visit Bodie next year when we come to California for our holidays. Can't wait (especially now we've seen your photos) and as everyone else has said love the music, fits it perfectly.
it makes you wonder, what became of all the people? where they all went to? or ended up living the rest of their lives. it makes us relize how short a human life is and all that have been before us. its wonderful feeling, that sort of haunts you while visiting such places.
just went here yesterday. awesome place. You can go in the cemetery and you can see how people just left there house cause the fire. there is half cartons of milk and mayonnaise and everything. its cool
Thanks for the great photos. I plan on visiting in a few weeks. Sure looks like something you can spend hours exploring, pity I'll be so stretched for time.
Excellent footage of Bodie - We visited this ghostly place from England in July 2008. It gave us a real sense of the wild west. We felt the history. - well done and thanks
It looks like Bodie has fared quite well due to the arid climate after 60+ years. It's been preserved excellently when compared to a temperate zone ghost town like Pripyat, Ukraine which has only been vacant for almost 22 years.
Thanks, I'll check my email. No, I doubt I will. I haven't ever posted YouTube before and anyway perfection cannot be improved upon!! ;) Yes, that would be your video!! ;)
Why did the people leave this city? Why did they leave their things there? Sorry for my bad English, hope somebody understand it...

Its worth buying a guide book when you first go in as it will give you info on all the houses and the people who lived in them.
Take care.
