I always advise people to ignore performance statistics dished up by car manufacturers looking to promote new models. I worked as a tester for many years, & I know how corrupt the system is.
Several times I was physically threatened in order to re-test & approve the ‘correct’ numbers. Once, some shady East Europeans appeared at the track, producing firearms & threatening to rape my 20YO PA “until her insides bleed out all over the floor & we make you to eat them up”. Usually I caved in.
All scions can arrive without a audio head unit if the dealer chooses so. That way they dont have to remove it if the customer that buys the car decides to get an upgraded unit. Nothing to do with weight reduction, just standard Scion practice
as alex roy and JF stated in a previous road testement and i agree with them 100% anyone who uses that system more than 2 or 3 times needs to get their licence renewed! all this technologe is just making us worse as drivers and stupider at reacting at other things, i aprreciate what volvo is trying to do but really the iihs should frown upon this system not praise it.
A convertible Suzuki swift would be great because of course it wouldn't be electric so inevitably someone would call you and you would be able to say hold on a sec I'm taking suzi's top off. Lol

@djPatman Not sure what you're getting at. A purpose built off-roader for war is not the same as these silly designer vehicles for soccer moms having a mid-life crisis.
Building around space for a roll-cage is a nice gimick I gotta say. Dare I suggest that it being badged a Scion could ad to the cool factor, like a hot Skoda or a Lotus tuned Lada. It is a bit on the fat side though. Maybe I should withhold judgement until it's actually in production.

Derek, I personally will HATE Scion if they make the FRS only ~$20,000. The reason: tons of wannabees driving this car will make it less appealing and prestige. When you see a ferrari, you're like "oh that's cool because it's rare and you don't see it much." When you will see this car, you'll think "OH god, another Scion." It is nice to see a company focusing on the tuner market, but I think that the FRS will be used by inexperienced people. Any word on this?

I've observed 3 types of Volvo "drivers". The 1st & most common r the ones who drive slow & bought a Volvo because they r scared of life itself. The 2nd r the 1s who drive beyond their ability because they think they know how 2 drive and feel they are safe because they r in a Volvo. OK, I dont know if car designers are trying to make ugly cars (Nissan being the worst with the Juke probably being the ugliest car ever made) but fucking god the Land Rover Evoque was ugly as is, then they must have looked at Nissan and been like "we can make something A LOT worse".
after market companies used to make convertible versions of the origional three door range rover and the 5 door aswell, theres one in a Roger Moore era Bond movie. You also got the convertible freelander but that's again like the Wrangler in that it wasn't a luxury thing. Audi made a concept one with the Q5 also.

@DinanEX from what ive read the frs is going to be a 4cyl boxer motor from subaru making 200hp and its going to be rwd hence the frs name (front engine,rear wheel drive,sportscar) and is going to have a lsd from factory also the new spy shots of this car driving around it doesnt look anything like the concept version showen in this video it has the same lights shape in the front but thats about it and it also doesnt look like it has the scion break light

@GundamAngelicDevil And your PC is probably more than 7 years old. It's nearly impossible to get a floppy drive on a new PC. Here in Japan you can't even buy floppies at the electrics store anymore.
On the contrary, its 5 years old with fairly new hardware -and- the drive was switched from generations of PCs I owned prior. Here in Canada, there are still external floppy drives available.
@GundamAngelicDevil So you just have a lot of time then. The floppy drive is completely useless, it used to have a use when computers needed boot disks but all Bios in the last 5 years support USB boots along with you being able to burn ISOs to DVD and boot that way so the floppy is a waste of bay space IMO. You could however put a certain OS on it though.
Not putting in a CD player is a damn good way for toyota to sell EVEN LESS of this new Scion... the first mistake of course being making it a Scion. Would've been WAY WAY WAY WAY cooler as a Toyota... just sayin

I've observed 3 types of Volvo "drivers". The 1st & most common r the ones who drive slow & bought a Volvo because they r scared of life itself. The 2nd r the 1s who drive beyond their ability because they think they know how 2 drive and feel they are safe because they r in a Volvo. Why not sell a regular FR-S and offer a stripped out version for tuners like what Hyundai did with the Genesis? A crap interior ain't worth the price.

OK, I dont know if car designers are trying to make ugly cars (Nissan being the worst with the Juke probably being the ugliest car ever made) but fucking god the Land Rover Evoque was ugly as is, then they must have looked at Nissan and been like "we can make something A LOT worse".

after market companies used to make convertible versions of the origional three door range rover and the 5 door aswell, theres one in a Roger Moore era Bond movie. You also got the convertible freelander but that's again like the Wrangler in that it wasn't a luxury thing. Audi made a concept one with the Q5 also.

Shameless self promotion t-shirt now?! This is getting out of hand. I hope the new scion fr-s will have standard rwd or awd, a naturally aspirated i-4 or i-6 producing 200+ BHP (WHP would be nice) hell if it had a lsd ill sell my 325ci for it. The only problem I have with it is if the scion name was imprinted on the back like the video showed, if scion wants a better image, they need a racing team, start making 200+ BHP and toss out fwd. They could be a good competitor to hyundai genesis if so.

@DinanEX from what ive read the frs is going to be a 4cyl boxer motor from subaru making 200hp and its going to be rwd hence the frs name (front engine,rear wheel drive,sportscar) and is going to have a lsd from factory also the new spy shots of this car driving around it doesnt look anything like the concept version showen in this video it has the same lights shape in the front but thats about it and it also doesnt look like it has the scion break light

@GundamAngelicDevil And your PC is probably more than 7 years old. It's nearly impossible to get a floppy drive on a new PC. Here in Japan you can't even buy floppies at the electrics store anymore.

On the contrary, its 5 years old with fairly new hardware -and- the drive was switched from generations of PCs I owned prior. Here in Canada, there are still external floppy drives available.

The floppy drive is completely useless, it used to have a use when computers needed boot disks but all Bios in the last 5 years support USB boots along with you being able to burn ISOs to DVD and boot that way so the floppy is a waste of bay space IMO. You could however put a certain OS on it though.

Honestly, it's snobby, German-worshiping car fans like JF that perpetuate this ridiculous brand elitism. It's pretty sad that some people wouldnt buy the FRS just because of its label even if it turned out to be a great car. I have learned that judging manufacturers can only get you so far. A real enthusiast evaluates a car based on its strengths, weaknesses their personal taste, not the badge on the hood.
