  • I played the crap out of this game back in the day. It's a true classic and a great adventure game.

  • Lots of memories

  • Wow, I didn't know they even MADE a second Pitfall game...

  • By far, the most advanced game ever designed for the Atari 2600 Console!.

  • Back when I had no bills, no worries

  • I've tried the arcade game it was hard

  • I remember this game so well.... sigh I miss the 1980s.

  • I used to play this game it my cousin's in the summer back in the 80's! Great times!

  • Although I don't own this game just seeing this clip makes me happy that I still have my Atari 2600 and my Commodore 64! I need to buy it again.

  • One of the very best games ever made!

  • Michael Jackson at the start?

  • wow ! i played this when i was kid :)

  • The music is super impressive, considering the games I usually play on Atari only have the ability to make a bleep or a fart blap. One of my friends opened up the cartradge, and there's a whole seprate chip in there just for the music. Effort this took indeed.

  • Good job on your video I liked it very much!

  • This isn't the Atari 2600 version, its close but slightly more detailed. The 2600 version of Pitfall 2 was good, but this looks like 7800 graphics.

  • This game is so ahead of its time.

  • this is not off the 2600 though. i have itfall 2 for 2600 and it looks nothing like this one.

  • at 0.30 why the hell is he afraid of a stupid frog lol?!

  • @maitrekenshin93 you obviously have no idea about good games

  • Someone said, "Hey, let's make a Pitfall game for the SNES, Genesis, and PC," and AuburnAttack21 said to Tork110, "Whatchu talkin bout Willis?!"

  • Insane Graphics for Atari 2600

  • I didnt even know this was made! Fucking awesome game!

  • He/she who dislikes this game, Is not a child of the 80's!!!!!!

  • I remember having so many new friends at school when they heard i had this. I even busted out the yar's revenge and crystal castles..Good times

  • I always thought this game was WAY ahead of its time...

  • I was a kid in 1984 and I dropped $30 for this game. Best money I ever spent!

  • 0:02 An indian doing the sprinkler. nice touch

  • @froggyfrog109 Well that beats my theory of a monkey on drugs with a twitch or it just needs to pee really bad.

  • I had this for coleco vision. Its been about 22 years, but I think the music was slightly different. Same melody but different key (minor) and harry was all brown with a white face. Can anyone attest to this? Thanks.

  • I miss the days when video games were like this. Flat, pixilated and awesome. They left so much to the imagination and then some. GTA 4 is great but leaves little room for interpretation.

  • i saw cencorned stuff.

  • its a retro remake ?

  • @Pinman1973 Retro remake?? Boi, pitfall released decades ago. What do you mean "retro remake"

  • GREAT MUSIC AND THE WATER SPRITE LOOKS AMAZING

  • i neat this game on atari 2600 with 101,000 points! :D

  • I could never play the sequel cos I hated the never ending annoying background music. Drove me nuts.

  • I like the c64 version

  • Holy crap....I can't believe I still remembered the music from this game lol...I had to have played this back in like 82 or 83

  • This game is still cool. And the music was not so bad.

  • What the hell? This looks way to different than how it did on Activision Anthology.. why?

  • i bought a gamepad with pitfal 1 (it had yellow red and white tv conectors

  • I'm unfamiliar with the Atari 800 and too lazy to look it up, but this is an impressive game for the early 80s with its background music and vertically scrolling boards. I ended up getting the Pitfall game on the NES and it was pretty odd. I don't think I ever beat it, but it's funny how I see so many similarities between this game and the NES one (including the theme music).

  • This was an awesome game, though I could never get too far on the second level. Also, the first game (in my recollection) to have awesome music.

  • love this game used to play it on 2600 all the time

  • jungle hunt and this back in 1983 wow...

  • I HAD ALOT OF FUN WITH THE 2600,THOSE WHO REMEMBER/SATURDAY WRESTLELING AND GOOD ATARI 2600 TIMES give me a hell ya

  • He was so traumatized after Super Pitfall (I think it should be called Super Pitfall II because of how much it resembles The Lost Caverns) that he let himself get eaten at the beginning of The Mayan Adventure.

  • One of the best games for the Atari 2600. However, I forgot how annoying the music could be. What platorm is being shown here? Is it the 5200? The 2600 sure wasn't this detailed on the rocks, trees, etc.

  • When Pitfall! was made, a great game was introduced to the masses.

When Pitfall II was made, an even better game was introduced to the masses.

When Super Pitfall was made for the NES, Activision realized one of the, for lack of a better term, pitfalls of milking a franchise.

  • Gold Bar! Doo doo do doo dooo do doo do dooo dooooooo!

  • best atari game ever.

  • the music is badass!

  • best game for the 2600 by a long way.unforgettable music too.

  • Loved the gameplay on this, but the "endless life" thing in exchange for being sent back to the most recent cross drove me NUTSSSSS. Not to mention that theme music (MUTE button used a lot).

  • dude this i9s the best

  • Comment removed

  • This is the Atari 800 version. I prefer it because it has an extra level after you save Quickclaw.

  • Comment removed

  • From what I gather the 5200 was the Atari 800 without the keyboard.

  • @Tork110

So where's the second level? I want to see it.

  • @ogithreturns this is the coleco vision

  • Friends.. Rejoice.. Pitfall 3 wannabe is here! It's a Free game with 7 levels to explore! just Youtube: Cliffall Pitfall tribute by idealsoft. I made the game all by my self and it's way way better than that Super Pitfall shame....hehe

  • SO EPIC!!!!!! born 93 btw

  • this game blew me away!!! I played this game to death........it had to be the first time a platform game allowed you to swim???

  • i can unlock ths on my ps2. the code is left right left right triangle triangle triangle or something.

  • Great, great, GREAT game! I remember playing this for hours when I was younger. Pitfall II was definitely a milestone in the Jump'n'Run genre.

David Crane later made "A boy and his blob" for the NES where you could see many parallels to Pitfall II, and even the new remake on Wii resembles it a bit.

  • On the original pitfall I got my activision patch for my jacket.

  • harry made a grand return in pitfall 3D - beyond the jungle for the PS1

  • this reminds me...I gotta bust out the old Atari 7800 and play this again! It's better than half of these modern games coming out...

  • so very true. I collect all things Atari. They are just timeless fun :)

  • I am 13 and I totally agree.

  • Hell yeah.

  • Actually I kind of liked the PS1 Pitfall, and the SNES/Genesis one was decent.

  • Yeah, I agree, this game was great and I loved it so much. Nice graphics and sound, plus a lot of fun.

  • This game is so freakin great. I remember freaking out cause a frog would always kill me in the caverns!

  • And because I love Pitfall II so much above any other game, I am creating a Pitfall III wish a be! see my website on my youtube page! for the demo download. You be glad you did. It's free (the demo that is with 4 playable levels!) or watch the video here on youtube by typing on the search field: CLIFFALL ! - freeware Pitfall tribute

  • Very cool, not sure why I didn't get a cnotification on this reply, but I'm going to check it out now, thanks.

  • The atari 5200 had the second level. Then again I think the Atari 5200 was a console version of the Atari 800, or 400 at least. Awesome game.

  • Actually, it was half way between a 600XL (it had the GTIA), and the 400/800 due to having joysticks 3 & 4, instead of the advanced MMU.

  • Well, you know your stuff, thanks.

That said, if you can get your hands on the 5200 or Atari 8-bit versions of Pitfall 2 and haven't already played it, please do. It's quite an awesome game even today.

  • 2 things to search for on google since I can't post links...

    atari800winplus

    and

    xlsearch

You will know what to do from there.

  • If i still had my atari, all the games.I would have got about $4300 out of it

  • Not much really...I would of kept mine if I still had it......

  • Thank you! I will remember this music til the day I die....... I must have played this game a thousand times. Does anyone remember riding on the balloons deep down in the cavern? And I, too, hated those fucking birds! What today's kids don't understand is that this game was AMAZING to us back then. As was even the idea of a cell phone, or a microwave, or a DVD player. We've come a long way in a very short time.

  • Kids don't understand? I'm 13 and I LOVE classic games!

  • @TheColanut12 Me too, got an Odyssey 2 yesterday :D

  • Congrats! But I gots mine for Christmas along with a Vectrex. :P

  • same...though, im more of a N64 fan'

  • how do you make your own online game

  • how did they play this..lmao

  • We weren't retarded, so we could play games that weren't about a soldier wearing robot armour, an emo vampire, or a chick with quadruple D breasts. I miss those days.

  • You sir or ma'am own! Great reply <3

  • you know i didn't purposely try to make my comment offensive.....so ..theirs no need to be a complete asshole..(out of a youtube comment)

  • Hell yeah

  • @thenamecolinwastaken Yeah instead we had great games like E.T and atari pac-man....Wait a minute....

  • @thenamecolinwastaken I am not sure the hardware at that time was able to produce any of those things you just listed.

Heck most games were retarded kill a thon or collecta thon

  • Sounds like Kirby Music.

  • One of the first games I've ever played in my life. Amazing.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • Wonderful.

    The old good games rocks.

  • i played this for whole night , fustrated to end this endless game

  • Best. Game. Ever.

  • był swego czasu rozpierdol 1994 okolo

  • chętnie za kasę kupiłbym nowe plansze do tej gry zamiast grać w crysis

  • The Commodore 64 version was just as good

  • lol for real, check some reviews, MODERN REVIEWS, this music is still said by many to be one of the best scores in videogame history.

  • o rly? O RLY? O FUCKING REALLY?!!!?

  • YA RLY! YA RLY! YA FUCKING REALLY!!

  • i said SHIT!

  • best music ever

  • @vlasvlasvlas Hell Yeah!

  • I've always loved this music...

  • That music brings back memories :)

  • I liked Pitfall, but Pitfall 2 was better in my opinion. It wasn't as monotonous as the first one, and there was a goal to it.

  • I used to play this when I was a kid

  • colecovision

  • i think also for the commodore 64.

i played this in the 80's.

    had totally forgotten about it.

  • on wich system was pitfall 2?

    atari 2600 or NES ?

  • Atari 2600. However, this is the Atari 800 version.

  • its atari 2600

  • used to play this on C64 daily. god, i don't care if i ever play it again. when i solved it i think i cried. fucking stupid falcons.

  • About your commentary...

    2 out of 3 ain't bad.

  • THIS GAME IS FUCKIN AWSOME!!

  • wow this is more graphically stunning than Pitfall 1.

  • If you want to see the best doctumetories on videogames, come over to my channel to see all of your favorites like Sony, Nintendo, SEGA, Atari!

  • The Atari 2600 pushed to it's limits is impressive. It almost looks like an NES game.

  • I have this for my Commdore 64!!!!!

  • this is so much better then the very first one, the first one was so fucking shit...

  • this is different than the 2600 version iv known

  • There was a way if you landed on the scorpion in a certain way you could kill it

  • There was a way if you landed on the scorpion in a certain way you could kill it

  • hahahahahahahHAHAHHAHA 0:18 WHY CAN THE SCORPION GO OVER THE ENDLESS PIT BUT NOT OUR HERO Jones

  • There's something amazingly atmospheric about the original two Pitfall games. The first time I played this one, I felt completely overwhelmed by the sheer size of the caverns, compared to the linear jungles of the first game.

  • i have played this game so many times! I could remember the music by the first sound :-)

  • I love that game!...Especially the music! who could foget!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Excellent game, best Pitfall in the series.

  • I loved that game, played it on the C64 but never did it to the end...
