First of all how an Iraki with a bazooka could down the world's most advanced stealth strike fighter is beyond me. Second of all, that is the whole reason the F-35 program is controversial. It was meant as a cheaper version of the F-22 that could be made in huge numbers for all three services. Now it's hideously late and has become the most expensive fighter program in Military History. They're now going to be a hell of a lot more than $50 mln...... which Defeats their whole point.
I'd still rather have an F22 for $30million more. If you suck in a bird in an F-22, you lose an engine. Suck in a bird in the F35, you lose a very expensive plane... and possibly a pilot too.

Now, money is an issue, 'cause the U.S. seems to be broke, whereas so much money goes to China for their exported good to the U.S. that now for the Chinese money is no object and they are developing their own F-22 equivalent when the U.S. can't afford produce F-22 anymore. My advise to American people, stop buying Chinese made goods, it only pumps money into your enemy people...
