  • Barbra pulls this off perfectly! It's amazing knowing that she has horrible stage fright even when working a movie set! <3

  • One of the nice but unheralded things about the movie version was, that it gave a good number of superb but mature male dancers a fair amount of work. I love the movie version, especially TJ Peaker (Minnie) who was a double of my ex wife, who was also cute and a superb dancer!

  • I used to live at 111 E. 14th Street NYC across from the old Lüchows and always felt this was the grand place referred to here.

  • Dad got me hooked on the "classics" since the day i was born whether it was armstrong or beatles marx bros or chaplin he was playing it trying to get me and my bros into them theyve always stuck with me when i was 8 i couldnt as i cant now ever find anything on to watch but TCM. one day at 8 it was the end of Duck Soup then a preview for Hello Dolly came on i saw it and it was up next. i got so glued to the set i didnt want to come up for dinner. mom nearly tanned my hide but dad understood. lol

  • @GothMetalhead999 im 21 now

  • @GothMetalhead999 She was way too young for this role but pulled it off and the whole thing is just fantastic. Good for you!

  • @slobomotion at the time i was too young to appreciate it but later i learned she was and i appreciated how well she pulled it off even though she succeeded in the role...i love her voice and just about all shes done

  • @GothMetalhead999 Hollywood knew they could bank on her. She's far from a perfect person but just loaded with radiant talent. This is a true artist. She was practically still a girl, about 24 I think, when she did this movie and this is really a role for a woman well past that age. I used to live on the same street she did in Brooklyn and that was fun to think of some days. I went to Hunter College, also, where she studied music. Babs rocks, anyway you slice it!

  • Man I hope Michael Kidd got paid big time for this movie.

  • @7jackman for the time it was made he was paid a considerably large sum...i cannot remember the amount presently however

  • 7 People prefer Bieber to Streisand. ==

  • Absolute classic!!!! I am 20 and have finally been emerged in the classics and this movie is by far the best!!! I watch this movie every sat morning no lie!!!! Wish people would sing like this now thanks mom for making me watch this and raising me to this sorta music!!!!

  • 6 people don't understand genius or just don't want to face it.

  • This production number is pure gold. All the little suttleties in her voice & the perfect positioning of her hand, arm & head placements. The whole phrasing of the way she sings & Louis Armstrong sing. You cannot get this kind of entertainment anymore.

  • our highschool is doing this musical.

I'm a freshmen but im going for lead.<3

  • 6 people want Dolly to go away again.

  • i discovered her wen i came in my moms room and she was watchin"funny girl" then after the movie was ova we watched "hello dolly" now im just in luv wit barbra streisand i luv her music shes insipirin and just wonderful

  • Golly Gee fellas , it;s one of my old favorite songs from way back when.........color me Barbara..I just love it

  • This was one of the first musical movies I ever saw, back when I was about ten or eleven. Still one of my favorites. Thanks for raising me up on the classics Mom.

  • If only my school had a musical like this, then I'd actually be interested

  • My sister Mary used to sing this,it was her party piece :) She died suddenly in July 2010 and tomorrow she would have been 54yrs young.Seeing this has made me laugh and cry but i just had to watch it....R.I.P. sis xxx

Thank you for posting it SVG1976z.

  • I love her body.... So elegant... Wish I had it... Those long fingers.... wow

  • i was looking for duck sauce......sorry

  • I watch this everyday.....no joke

  • smiplemente me encarta

  • This song is just incredible! This film introduced me to Barbra Streisand which was just amazing. And the moment when Loius Armstrong turns round is magic! These are THE icons! This film is one of the best easily.

  • Barbra Streisand ~ you are THE absolute BOMB! You are SOOOOO stunning. And that voice of yours is unbelievably one-of-a-kind! Thank you for inspiring all of us ALL these years!!!! I love you very much!! Kara Lyn Roundy! XO

  • Magnifique \o/

  • GREAT movie!! Legendary!!!!YES!! the GREAT STAR EVER #1 Love Love LOVE HER!!!

  • seeing Louie brought me to tears..........

  • The most upbeat song and nest song by a woman.. Love you Barbra. Philillie

  • =) Quelle chorégraphie de fou !!!!!

It's so nice !!!!!! My friends laughed about me because I love this song and this choreography because I was 16 1/2 years old... it's so unfair !!

    So beautiful !!

  • @SuperNonoD Don't let your friends get to you...many years ago I was about 12 years old, and saw the movie and had a huge crush on Barbra....and my friends laughed then too....but the beauty of the songs and lady have stayed fondly with me all these years and introduced me to great American musicals, what an art form they are...

  • LOVE Louis Armstrong!!!! They don't make performers like that any more and the world is a sadder place because of it.

  • @Tannimd

Just listening to him sing in this (or any other song for that matter) you just can't help but smile !

  • @Tannimd agreed

  • I started watching barbra when i was a little girl and she is such an insperation. i love her

  • Nobody sings like this today. Absolutely fantastic...

  • Barbra Streisand (cue techno music)

  • you're still glowing, you're still growing, you're still...going strong :D

  • Hello Dolly is the best movie ever !!!

  • wish carol channing atleast had a cameo....

  • In one scene, Streisand simpers more than anyone in the history of film.

  • Wow I feel particularly dense at the moment. Until the end, I thought she was just like dancing and singing in her mansion or something! lol

  • For some reason I keep thinking Barbra is going to say "Hello Gorgeous" during this video at some part. lol :)

  • Maybe the last great star of the movie musical from Hollywood's golden age. Her star power is second to none and she still going strong today. Legendary!

  • First time I heard this song was in the beggening of scary movie 2 lol and then they were like "shake that a$s watch ya self"

  • @jrockrocks97 me too :X

  • Great directing by Gene Kelly!

  • She will be always the best singer ever !

    ..Weell, I think so !

  • @unriccioriccioso , She was good singer, but not versatile enough. All her music sounded the same

  • Of course, Streisand is the greatest pop woman vocalist of the 20th century, and she shows plenty of her skills in this fab clip. But Armstrong is THE star in any scene in which he appears. His joy for life comes through his voice and one can't help but smile.

    "Wow, wow, wow" indeed!!

  • Barbara Streisand has this charisma and enthusiasm that is so rare and exquisite, just as she is.

  • Du är väldigt bra.

  • Du ska inte stjäla andras hit, du behöver det inte, du är stor nog ändå!

  • 1:15 - 1:17 She was about to have an orgasm

  • I loveeeee it! I love how he music starts as soon as she takes the first step down the stairs :')

  • Barbra Streisand, Julie Andrews and my kindergarten teacher where my first women I had crushes on :) Her voice is just amazing and so powerful....

  • wow, she was 27 at the time

    amazing talent

  • Classic. People were just some much more stylish back then...

  • That is what we used to call a 'star entrance.' Nobody does it anymore because we don't have larger-than-life stars anymore. A whole era gone.

  • I first fell in love with Barbra when i saw here walking down that staircase, I was 11 at the time, and still love here music and voice, a beautiful natural god given talent.

  • she did all that dancing in heels! what talent!

  • It's one of my dreams to play this role in a production of Hello Dolly. I grew up on this musical. The music, the setting, the clothes- everything. I love it. Barbra is beyond lovely.

  • One of the best movie scenes in all time - equal to Singing In The Rain anyday!

  • when I'm depressed I watch this video and everything goes!

  • obojaiu.

  • Louis Armstrong is just amazing. I LOVE HIM! And Babs has one of the most natural voices ever. She isnt even trying and she is inredible!

  • They just dont make musicals like they use to!

  • What a fantastic movie, Barbra Striesand was great in this movie, she was made for the movie. These movies are gone I think forever. I grew up with movies with Doris Day, Ethel Merman, Barbra.

  • now that's what I call a BIG entrance! ;-)

  • @Cadschi i agree :)

  • Awesome. Thanks for the memories. ;-)

  • "Hello, Dolly!" is one of may favourite movies. The making of it is a very interesting story, there were a lot of problems, but the end result iswonderful to watch. I loved the way they did the title number, its got to be one of the best musical numbers ever filmed. And to all of its fans, it was not the big failure at the boxoffice people have been led to believe it was. There were some small profits.

  • I've always wanted to go to a restaurant where they reenact this. :)

  • I have to do this song for an audition (male part) this is going to be another epic failure

  • Omfg!!it's Louis Armstrong!

    Even beeeeeter;)

  • i like this song after i saw the movie in choirs

  • Well, well, well, a jazzy, catchy number, Barabara Striessand looks babelicous in this and a suprise cameo by Louis Armstrong. What more could you ask for?

  • I worked at my school musical last night, it was Hello, Dolly. I was so amazed at the lead's musical and vocal skills. Later I asked her who she idolized and based her performance on. She told me, "the one and only Barbara Streisand." I laughed and watched the movie again when I went home. I've seen this movie six times. (;

  • @BatmansFavoriteGirl millikan?

  • @Lbmagicman1993 No. Rutherford B. Hayes. It's in Ohio.

  • @BatmansFavoriteGirl Oh ok. Because we had a musical at our school, which was Hello, Dolly!, the same night you guys had it. haha

  • @Lbmagicman1993 Wow. Hahaha small world.

  • This happens to me whenever i walk into a restaurant

  • @EkseteraEksetera Hah. (;

  • Luchöw's was still on 14th Street when I moved to Manhattan in 1978, and was likely the inspiration for this dining palace. Can you believe she was only about 29? I lived on Ocean Parkway, too, so consider myself a distant neighbor of "Babs." She is just super.

  • This is still one of my all time favorite movies, i love old classics.

  • 5 people have lost their minds! Barbra is a classic!

  • ¡¡¡MAGNIFICA BARBRA; UNA GRANDE CON MAYUSCULAS!!! ARTISTA Y CAN-

    TANTE INSUPERABLE.

  • Did you know this actually got really bad reviews?

.. Although I can never understand why... Barbra's sooo wonderful. :/

  • @jamlyngar I think it was the fact that she was too young for the part and the fact that movie musicals were falling out of style during this time. Total bull, if you ask me. Barbra was too young at this stage of her career, but vocally, besides Carol herself, I can't think of a better Dolly.

  • The five people who don't like this must be complete idiots

  • Ms. Streisand was wonderful and with That voice she could turn anything into magic. And Louie Armstrong --just PURE MAGIC!!

  • A VÍLÁG EGYIK LEGSZEBB HANGJA!! BARBRA STREISAND EGYIK LEGSZEBB FILMJE ÉS EZ A DAL ÉS SZEREP CSAK TŐLE ILYEN HITELES ÉS LENYŰGÖZŐ!! IGAZI SZTÁR ÉS UTÁNOZHATATLAN!!

  • I love Barbara, but the all black broadway cast was even better than this..

  • AWW!!! Louis is so cute!!!

  • I don"t think I've seen a movie moment that gives me as much plesure as this one. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Beatiful, I'm crying already for missing that era...

  • @moontender my favorite movie !!! love Barbra in everthing she sings xx

  • the first time I saw this was at the Ravioli theater (wintergarden) in times square on a class trip. Every time I see this scene it give me chills, thanks for posting

  • I can't hear it...but I like it!

  • I can't hear it...

  • Great movie! Love this scene.

  • This is my favourite movie of all time. Barbra is just so talented. Always makes me happy when i watch this.

  • A true classic one of the best of Barbra. She was awesome.

  • the iconic scene!! damnn her voice is incredible. i love barbra streisand

  • In my opinion, this is Barbra's best film! Such great songs, so well done! Truly a classic!!!

  • talk about classy! she's amazing.

  • Because the idiot directors and producers, are just that idiots. They totally ruin any type of musical, movie, or tv show when they do remakes. Don't they know, you can't do a remake and make it like the original? The idiots, my opinon

  • Barbara you never seize to amaze me ...everytime I hear you...you belong up there in the milkyway forever ...the greatest and shiniest star!?!

  • Barbra once said that she knew she wasn't made for this part, but I think, taking that into consideration, she did a FANTASTIC job fitting into the role of Dolly.

  • @colorguarddrummajor She said that she thought she was too young for the part. I don't so. So pulled it off perfectly. I wonder why she never sings these songs in her concerts.

  • I posted this all over my facebook contacts in celebration to finally having weekends off for over a decade of have to work through the weekend, which meant not going out. Im not going out for only a couple of hours, forget it. I went home, and if I wanted to go out, would go out mid week. BORING! Sunday beer bust, first stop, with free barbeque at Club Legends in Fresno, Ca. Yes, "Dolly will never go away, again!"

  • I grew up watching Hello Dolly, Sound of Music, and Mary Poppins. Then after a few years all they had to offer was stuff like High School Musical. I'm coming close to 15 now, and even now and then, I love pulling out one of these movies and watching. Truly a classic I'll never get tired of.

  • A True Beauty & Classic forver a Legend!! Jids Watch what Talent is !! Thnx Youtube!

  • Absolutely LOVED watching Barbara nad Louie singing together. Sweet and classic. How can you not smile while watching this?

  • won't deny the beauty in this film but seriously you guys, there are good movies out today that rival this. We're not at a total loss in the 21st century...

  • @Hankleberg Care to name any? Yes, there are some great movies nowadays, but give me an example of any recent muscial to compare to this. It's not like you can compare Hello Dolly to LotR, cuz that would be ridiculous, but anything in the same genre?

  • @xedra I was just talking about movies in general. They don't make them like these anymore. Age of the musical died when High School Musical decided it would give the musical film a shot.

I hear lots of "film is dead". I beg to differ.

    I don't know, it's whatever.

  • 2:49 but she's not wearing a hat D:

  • I wanna see an updated version with Lady Gaga. But who would play Louis Armstrong?

  • @Pinwormx Um... no. And screw Lady GaGa, we've heard enough of her already. Don't even think of destroying a classic!

  • @TweetyRock1 Totally agree, to even suggest GaGa could come close to Babs is pure crazy, GaGa isn't fit to lick Bab's shoes and could never emulate this kind of work if she tired her absolute best, which IMHO would never be good enough!

  • @Pinwormx How about some tacky jerk like Kayne? If you're going to ruin a classic, might as well go all the way.

  • @Pinwormx I'd actually like to see that, it sounds fun. I wonder what a Lady Gaga version of Streisand's dress would look like?

  • @Pinwormx Travvie Mccoy? :D

  • Barbra Streisand was technically too young for this role but I cannot imagine anyone else playing her. And I saw Carol Channing play her! I am biased because I love Streisand but it's true....there is a reason I love her!!!

  • Aww, Louis Armstrong is so cute!

  • she wants Danny's P in her V. juss sayin.

  • SEXY

  • Barbara Streisand's voice could melt a hamster. In fact, she seems to enjoy melt animals a little too much...

  • I absolutely adore this movie

  • so cute BS

  • Amazing!

  • babs rules show biz!!!!!!!

  • Barbra's got nothing on The Lobe.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=buE5T3rAXKY

  • The Best Female singer/acteress/Entertainer on the Planet #1

  • One of the best songs. Barbra is so sexy in this movie ! love heeer

  • I wish this was in better quality, I love this movie. Grew up watchin movies like this with my mother.

  • my favorite part is when she sings with louis armstrong.. amazing hes amazing the duet ahh

  • i love you Barbra Streisand! you are an amazing singer and dancer!!!

  • This song always makes me smile. :)

  • This is my all time favorite musicals! I love Barbra in it!

  • i don't know if anybody will answer but...why is that the concept of Streisand it's associated to gay people? i'm from Chile, latinamerica, and i have never understand this. Anybody? I just saw, before this video, a part of Hello Dolly with Louis Armstrong and i had some tears in my eyes...man! beautiful music...and i like the ladies...so it confuses me why U.S.A. pop culture always assumes this association.

  • @lovelessAndros A lot of people like Streisand. She has a huge gay following, but at her concerts the crowd is very mixed. I think we gay people love her because from the beginning she was considered odd and different so we could relate to someone who is considered different. So, you can be straight and like Barbra too:)

  • What a great scene from a wonderful movie!The wonderful Streisand voice!Amazing!

  • Phenominal

  • I agree! Good, wholesome stuff always stands the test of time. Today's crap won't make it into the next generations.

  • THIS is a good song.

now people like songs titled 'Blah blah blah'.

  • I Love her Passsion Power and Purpose she is Truly a gift from God I feel the Best Femeale Entetainer EVer on the Planet !!! WOW!!1

  • one of my top ten all time favorite movies

  • i adore this scene! My favourite from the movie...this song is fantastic!!!

  • love it very much

  • Barbara Striesand AND Louis Armstrong...

Did I die and go to heaven?????

  • according to IMDB --- The original design of Barbra Streisand's gold-beaded gown shown in the Harmonia Gardens scene weighed 40 pounds and cost $8,000. Twice during rehearsals, she tripped over its 2.5-foot train. Other dancers also tripped over it during rehearsal, so the train was taken off the dress. The train is shown intact when Streisand starts down the stairs, but later it disappears.

  • GOD why can't we make movies as fantastic as these anymore? They're called "classics" for a reason! You can't say that about movies today

  • @jezebel324

It's because of the generation that we have today. Back then, movies like this were base on good morale and doing the right thing. Now, kids and young people look at this and go "Pfft! That's so old school! That's so uncool!" Plus, Hollywood's developed the attidtude of its more about making money and entertaining the audience than making good films. It's pathetic I know, but its the world we live in nowadays.

  • @jezebel324 You're absolutely right on. Tbe beautty and talent that is Steisand supported by phantastic choreography, direction, production, lyrics and music will never be repeated..

  • @jezebel324 Keep your opinions to yourself, Don't be an ignoramus.

  • @DarkSuccesses why should he!? this section of youtube it's for opinions... DA!!! besides...he's right you know. Maybe AVATAR it's a classic in your book,

    i'm sorry...it's not

  • @lovelessAndros Welcome to the internet old person, And what the fuck is an "avatar"? You mean like.. An icon? Or are you talking about that movie thats not a song you know.. And you say hes right? Thats an opinion. I like some old songs and some new songs. I even like this one, But hes just blurting it out like hes 100 Positive that these songs were the best. Which comes to my conclusion you are an Ignorant asshole too.

  • @DarkSuccesses you really like that word ignorant, it represents you very well,plus..name calling?i guess i can't ask too much from a douche like you. Anyway you don't fool anybody pretending you don't know what avatar is...maybe your mommy believe you lies, don't know.don't care. Point is, if anybody should keep opinions to himself thats you, but i believe it's your right to have and say your opinions. If the guy thinks the song it's the best of all times your don't have the right to censor.

  • @lovelessAndros You really like the word combination of "Don't know don't care" Represents how people feel about you. Lrn2grammar by the way, And no I don't really know what Avatar is. Keep your opinions to your self too.

  • @DarkSuccesses nope! "don't know don't care"...totally you.

Now you are an expert on grammar!!? c'mon man! don't you have limits on being an stupid asshole(i'm sure you'll think some genious comeback for that one but remember, you started the name calling) if i didn't speak my mind just because some idiot tells me to..

Sorry for grammar, english it's not my mother language, but man! assholes are all alike in any language jajaja never somebody like you will stopme for speaking my mind. Get that

  • @lovelessAndros Dont recycle my insults faggot. I used Don't care thing on you, Anyways You can speak your mind all you want you still aren't right, Take me for example: My favorite song is La donna e Mobile. I don't go around saying its the best because I'm not a JACKASS. Now I didn't say you were a jackass untill you started being ignorant with your dumbass comebacks.

  • @DarkSuccesses youre right , youre not a jackass or a dumbass...right.

Very bad, wrong...and boring..i'm out, bye

  • @jezebel324

todays movies are a joke in compared to movies like this. such class and talent. These days saddly are gone =(

  • @jag2eagle10 agreed

  • nup

  • @jag2eagle10 So let's bring them back! I am sick of people saying how the best things are long gone! They don't have to be, we can change that if we want to. Thumbs up if you're with me on this!

  • Comment removed

  • @aquaxman45 or you just need to watch more modern artsy films which are about film and not money.
