The "super cool brand new home screen" you get when you plug the phone is just the Clock application ... Only new thing is the Bluetooth sound output.
Wait....How is this any different than just running the clock app that comes standard with your nexus one? Just going to apps->Clock, you get the same thing. All this does it charge it will it holds your phone up with the clock app. Ummm...did I miss simething? How does this "interact with your phone that it normally wouldn't have without the dock"?
@pezpet "'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."
I own a Nexus One by the way. I was asking an honest question. The dock does nothing more than hold the phone up, charge it, and send output audio. All can be accomplished without the $50 dock and a $3.00 headphone jack.

You'd be surprised how well the alarm works. I use that same Clock/Alarm app for my G1. In another room, with my bedroom door closed it gets me out of bed. No it's not crazy loud, but it does the trick.
I know a number of people who use the Android alarm for alarm clocks, and they all say it works great.
I'd be wary of actually plugging the power port into a computer usb slot. According to the instructions on Google's Nexus page, its says to never do that.
I would concur, I think it has to do with the power throughput because I think that the computer USB provides half the amperage that the AC adapter would.
i dont think this is worth it

doesnt the manual specifically say: "NEVER CONNECT THE DOCK TO A COMPUTER!"

@tomsan84 Probably because it requires to much power for crap pc computers. No problem on my mac, been using it that way for almost 2 months now.

How would you rate the sound quality of the music through the speaker and a headphone
T1N5L3Y 2 years ago
how is this worth $45. I'd rather play music through my pc soundcard. also, the onboard speaker probably isnt big enough to use as an alarm anyway.

Well this makes me pleased. I op't for the Dock just now, when I ordered my Nexus!
There's absolutely no mention of bluetooth connectivity on the info regarding this little device on googles site!
Say google bye to my alarm clock on the beside table! :)
Cheers for the upload mate.

when you docking first, BT would connect automatically without pairing procedures.
you just need to check the audio settings on the pop-up dialogue.
