  • I still dont get 1 single point, if Moriaty died for real, why does he choose death for only the sake of Sherlock's Destruction, he may let it go and find a better plan to destroy Holmes. No need for a suicide there. Unless, he also faked his death as same as Homles.

  • @lamhuyet189 Sadly not, the actor for Mori has said tha he has no intention of returnin. His main reason for suicide was to prevent Sherlock from forcin the code out of him in order to save the othas. Clearly he hates to lose, childish an prideful, typical features of a genius. Tho other reasons may have bin cuz he'd found Sherlock. No other person cud play with him on tha level of intelligence an if he was sure Sherlock wud die then there wud be no point in livin any longer without his playmate

  • Moriarty still win this game even he's already dead .

  • ewww brain chunks...

moriarty really needed some help. maybe a good old fashion hug? eh? anyone up for it??

  • you can say what you want about jimmy, but he sure was dedicated to the cause.

  • I'm kinda sad that he's dead, Andrew Scott was an amazing actor and he made this Moriarty so creepy and convincingly evil so its a shame when sherlock returns we wont be able to enjoy this amazing villain. Still Im confident that Moffat and Gattis will make it just as brilliant as ever :D

  • Moriarty: At first, I was Moriarty. Then I became Mr. Sex. From there, I became the King of England, back to Mr. Sex in a courtroom, became a storyteller, then your cab driver, then Richard Brook, and finally Mr. Sex here on this rooftop. Now excuse me, I'm going to become the corpse of Mr. Sex. :D

    *pulls out gun*

    Sherlock: Wh-

    *shoots himself*

    Sherlock: ...

  • Who's more badass the joker or moriarty?

  • This was my other WTF moment after the Richard Brook part !!

  • *spoiler alert***

  • @llbman3kll

With the title, that's a given. Duh.

  • and i agree Jim Moriarty is one of the best tv characters made in years...

  • Steven Moffa stated in an interview that he had seen all the theories posted online and noted they had all missed one key moment that was decidedly "out of character", so it can't be the moment with Molly as that is usually mentioned in theorys... what moment was it you reckon?

  • @Mustang318 The moment that Sherlock is out of character, is hen he jumps back and kinda gives a little shout. Sherlock has seen dead bodies, he's tortured a cab driver for information and all other things that are moraly wrong. Why would he be so frightened of a gun? If anything, Morarty could have shot him, but Sherlock was going to 'die' anyway to save his friends, so why bother?

  • @VeilBloodClaws I think he was more shocked that Moriarty would kill himself. None of us expected that, not even him.

  • I know Sherlock planned to fall of the building and everything but I watch it over and over and cant decide whether he knew Moriarty would kill himself? Because he couldnt have known really but then how would his plan have worked if Moriarty was alive...Anywayys great scene! Gave me shivers when watching!

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 Now I'm just depressed. Stop ruining my dreams random YouTube user! Well regardless if he does make a return, he will undoubtedly be remembered by both Sherlock and John. I just wonder how they will make it just as exciting without the deranged twisted psychopath that is Jim Moriarty.

  • (contd:) seems significant may not be...also there are almost certainly numerous aspects of the series which we missed due to dismissing them as insignificant, and also due to us not knowing that there would be a mystery to solve at the end as we watched them...rlly must re-watch ;) ahh yes, i hadn't thought about the homeless network, good point...well idk but you're certainly far more intelligent than a lot of people speculating on the interent ;) xx

  • This won't be the same without him :'c..

  • There's really no question as to who is the most badass of this Moriarty and Moriarty from the movie. Moriarty in the movie fell to his death, screaming in terror, while Moriarty in the series killed himself with a smile on his face, just to make sure Sherlock would go down. I rest my case.

  • @siridavidsen the moriarty in the movie sucked! the only time i liked him was during the last fight.

  • @siridavidsen

he was screaming in terror because the death was unsuspected. The short guy from the series planed it and had already made peace with the fact that he was going to die.You are homosexual and your point is invalid :3

  • @janskrinjar the short guy???

    did you watch ironman?

  • @V1LL1AM

what does iron man have to do whit the guy being short ?

  • @janskrinjar robert downy jr. plays ironman. he also plays sherlock holmes in the movies. i think that's who you refer to when you say "short guy". downey is short. ironman was a really famus movie and assumed you would know who the actor was. sorry if i confused you :){

  • @V1LL1AM

i was talking about moriarty (BBC) being the short guy, witch has nothing to do with robert downey jr. or iron man or the sherloc holmes 2 movie.

  • @siridavidsen Yeah. But Moriarty isn't really dead.

  • He's not dead, obviously.

  • @Bartt88 Yeah, I totally think Jim's still alive too... How could they get rid of such an epically amazing villian? Plus, it seems strange that he would kill himself... And the way he decides to do it is important (cause, you know, shooting himself in the mouth like that could easily be faked, whereas if he shot himself in the head, we'd have to see a bullet mark).

  • @phanpiggy I'm pretty certain Moriarty's dead. Moriarty dies in the original story. Even a blank fired inside your mouth would kill you. And don't forget he's brilliant but insane. If killing himself would destroy Sherlock, Moriarty would do it. Also, as amazing of a villain as he is, they do need a new one.

  • @13GLaDOS42 why would a blank kill a person?

  • @Sternhof When you shoot a blank the gun still goes off, just without a bullet. The muzzle blast (the explosion when you fire) still happens. It would explode your head.

  • @Bartt88 There's not enough blood, for Morarty to be dead... A head shot would have been like instantaneous lake of blood, but you see a little trickle.

  • @VeilBloodClaws I don't know if this is serious or not. Movies and TV shows aren't real life, good sir.

  • 0:26 Is it a piece of brain in the blood? I found this scene really impressed the first time I saw it.

  • such a dangerous enemy because hes so so intelligent but not what people would call sane...the scariest thing for me is that he dies happy

  • son of a b*tch and he still goes out smiling! what's up with that?! f*ckin awesome villian ever. xDD What? I can appreciate a villian. a specially a good one.

  • and this is how you troll... to the very last second of your life.

    rip moriarty- a true troll

  • @BlackRose2354 He even Died with a Trollface :)

  • Moriarty probably didn't fake his death because Sherlock convinced him that he wasn't ordinary. After Moriarty confirmed this he came to the conclusion that Sherlock was right about the situation and had hoped for that outcome. Moriarty decided after thanking Sherlock that the only way to truly defeat Sherlock was to kill himself and seal Sherlock's fate but he would never had seen Sherlock relying on Molly coming. Next season = Ghost Moriarty (is he real is he imaginary).

  • moriarty...you couldve just shot sherlock...god he's SOOOO ordinary.

  • @xbox360ROCKS777 Don't be DULL. Shooting Sherlock reaffirms that he's really Moriarty, and makes Sherlock a martyr. That's BORING. No, Sherlock needed to be discredited, and what better way to ensure that than to make him commit suicide.

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 yes exactly...i like you xx

  • @awesomelyizzy "That's not what people usually say".

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 "what do they usually say?"

  • @awesomelyizzy "Piss off." Hahahahahaha.

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 lol ;) i bet u have some interesting theories about how he did it...?? xx

  • @awesomelyizzy Which one? I have theories on how both survived.

I have my better theories on Sherlock. Obviously, Molly was a major role. The main question is: What about Mycroft? How was he involved? And then, what about that damned rubber ball was so important? They dedicated a whole scene to it, and it VANISHED.

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 oh, so you reckon moriarty survived too?!

i agree with everything you said, no-one else seemed to notice that the ball seemed significant...would LOVE to know what sherlock said to molly next...and what about the cyclist who knocked john over? also what about the assassins?? at least one must have survived: they were told to kill each other if they made contact, but if 3 are dead then who could kill the fourth?? and who hired them?? (contd)

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 (contd:) i also wonder if it's possible for irene to be involved in any way, although i have to admit that it's unlikely...it's just that moriarty thought that sherlock cared about 3 people, when he actually cared about 5, hav to wonder if that had any significance...

  • @awesomelyizzy I think he could have. Even if he did, he won't be back.

I think Sherlock has his work cut out for him, running about getting rid of the people who were sent for John, Lestrade, and Mrs. Hudson. The other two didn't come into play because Jim doesn't think Sherlock is capable of romantic love, remember "The Virgin"? And the ball is a mystery... But the truck full of bags isn't even in the slightest. The cyclist was a plant, and the doctors probably were too.

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 so you don't think the cyclist was relevant then?? interesting, you could well be right as that was the most obvious starnge thing, but can quite easily be a coincidence...but then again it is very difficult to tell?? yes you are quite right about the romance thing...lol i'm definately getting the impressive that you are cleverer than myself, i'm enjoying this ;) xx

  • @awesomelyizzy Oh, I think he is totally relevant in that he was SENT, and it was no accident. There's such thing as coincidence, but very rarely is it the answer. By plant, I mean he's sent by either Molly or Mycroft. Most likely he's one of the homeless network, contacted through Molly.

Definitely doesn't have an "A" in it, by the way.

Cleverer, maybe... Probably just someone without a life outside of fanfiction.

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 ahh yes, i always do that...definitely is my weakness when it comes to spelling, i've written it wrong too many times now, need to break the habit...yes i agree, i think that john being knocked over at that precise moment would have been too much of a coicidence...however considering that this is fiction created to try and make people want to solve the mystery, i think that it is likely that at least one thing which (contd)

  • I'd just watched the Reichenbach Falls and was angsting ridiculously over Moriarty's death, so I went to a tumblr fandom for Sherlock.

I have Google Chrome, and that day, the internet was crappy, and the page crashed. A sign came up, saying,

    'He's dead, Jim!'

Thank you for REMINDING ME OF MY PAIN!

  • @sternbergzookie I refuse to believe this, Moriarty was a better character than Sherlock, they just can NOT get rid of him!

  • Amazing. Just... what an exit. He may be an evil psychopathic killer, but he does have style.

  • @solitaryscientist You may not like it Sherlock, but you cant deny, Moriarty's got style!

Your comment totally reminded me of a Harry Potter quote, :)

  • @Eriks0Angel Haha, it's amazing how many times a day I accidentally plagiarise Harry Potter. :)

  • @solitaryscientist We all do ;)

  • @Eriks0Angel Do you mean "You Know Who did great things... Terrible, yes, but great" or "You may not like him, minister, but you cannot deny---Dumbledore's got STYLE"?

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 The latter, it's one of my all time favourite HP quotes :)

  • Lots of people are saying that Moriarty faked his death...I don't see how he could have. The bullet clearly went from the gun straight through his head. Also, in the books, The Reichenbach Falls is the story that sees both the real death of M and the apparent death of Sherlock. So yeah...sorry guys, he's dead.

  • @liangryness Yeah, I agree. He's definitely dead. I think it's better that he's leaving on a high note, rather than the writers bringing him back loads of times until he ceases to be scary. Wonderfully dramatic exit. Considering his relatively small amount of screen time, he's already a legend.

  • @duckworth21384 Well they're making a third series, and what is Sherlock without Moriarty? It's like tea without milk.

  • @Sharpyyyyyyyy Actually, it's somewhat like the latter half of my Complete Sherlock Holmes book. It might even be more than half. Either way, Moriarty is gone. He was a great deal of fun while he lasted, but he's not coming back.

It also happens that I despise milky tea. I do, however, take sugar, and John can be a sweet individual. Make of that what you will.

  • @Sharpyyyyyyyy Rather unfortunately, Jim won't be back. It's just not in the cards. However, all the best Sherlock Holmes stories come after The Final Problem, beginning of course with one of my personal favourites, The Empty House. And of course, The Dying Detective---that would make a brilliant episode! Plus, there are so many previous cases they never put into the first two seasons that they could blend together to make a good case without Moriarty.

  • I mean after all he said he was an actor, maybe that was true? he fooled molly at the beginning and sherlock into thinking he was gay, maybe this was a stage too.

  • I could imagine many different ways to fake a death like Jim's here, i dont think we've seen the last of moriarty. Although i have to admit it was cool to see sherlock turn the game against moriarty.

  • My God. I'm just- I can't even think. What was that?!?

  • I couldn't help but laugh at this bit, just the face he pulls before he shoots himself. He's totally mad. If he did manage to fake his death though, Moriarty is the ultimate troll :P

  • Given this is based on the original works, of course Sherlock faked his death. The real question is whether Jim faked his ? In original work Holmes pushes Moriarty to his death during a fight where he 'dies' also.

  • beyond epic scene. the whole finale, actually.

  • iam pretty sure hes not dead well see if iam wright in the 3rd season we just have to wait one ye...shit

  • Oh god. I just LOVE Jim. I love him.

  • Since this moment until the end of the episode i was stunned, i could not believe that.

  • The music is BEYOND epic in this scene!

And I for one was not expecting this to happen!

  • hold down 6 - lol

  • We need to think more carefully about this. And pay more attention to detail. For example, Sherlock did NOT ask Molly for help. He said; `I need YOU` and asked her if she would still help him if he wasn't what she thought. Also we never saw her again. What did Sherlock have that was Moriarty's? A love interest? There are a million possibilities. A ball, a forensic scientist, and a chalked out place on the road. These are just a few `clues`. They could be meaningless. We need to work this out.

  • wait why would sherlock be able to save his friends if moriarty is alive?

  • mbop28 yet you see him watching watson grieve at the end. get out of that one.

  • Comment removed

  • Can someone tell me if there's going to be a season 3 , cause I don't really know if sherlock is dead or not

  • @electrorab Sherlock is seen at the end of the episode when John is leaving Sherlock's grave.

  • @DANgerous124 Yeah I know but I thought that that was mayby just Sherlock looking from " heaven" at Watson ;d

  • Can someone tell me if there's going to be a season 3 , cause I don't really know if sherlock is dead or not

  • a fake blood pouch inside a coat collar and a fake gun with a gunpowder sound. faking this would be easy for moriarty to fake it

  • @PinkieBubblegumPie yes and for any of us to buy it. But the guy he'd attempt to trick is Sherlock freaking Holmes somehow i dont believe he is easily tricked by fake blood pouches and shit..

  • @Afereth sorry to take so long to get back but the thing is that Sherlock was already kind of panicked and as many have said, he likes things to be dramatic. Also, as Moriarty said, his main weakness is tha he always wants everything to be clever

  • Dudes.

I love the character too, but, seriously?

He died. He dies in the books too. Get over it.

And to all the people who still want him to turn out to be alive,

can you imagine a better way for him to die?

  • What's the name of the music in this one, does anyone know?

  • @AkzulSaulie1993 "Prepared To Do Anything" :)

  • @boohannahboo Thanks :D

  • *cries*

I do hope Moriarty is still alive! He's been my fave character in the series.

  • NO JIM!!QAQ

    Andrew Scott...bless YOU!!

    Amazing actor brilliant!!!

  • AND he is still fucking smiling

  • @maccsJessicaDeans one crazy bastard.

  • @BBCSherlock I just accidentally my whole mouth too

  • What I can't believe is the fact that Moriarty is almost crying because he knows Sherlock is his equal and mirror image... Andrew Scott actually brings such a tragic edge to this character. Brilliant.

  • @OverlyCaucasianMale thanks for pointing that out, it's got me thinking in new directions about what I consider to be an extremely complex scene. And that moment when he puts the gun in his mouth is one of the weirdest things I've seen on TV

  • @pionstail lol I know. He goes from crying in joy to smiling in deranged victory... it is so wrong, but I actually feel kind of sorry for him...

  • That is not enough blood for being shot in the head or neck area... It would be like literally gushing out, and that little trickle is nothing... At least it gives me hope that he's still alive.

  • What I don't understand is why Sherlock has such a big reaction to Moriarty's death. The first time you watch it you're made to believe it's because he now can't stop the snipers, but when you watch it a second time (or thousands more times, like moi) you know that he was going to fake his death, so why the overwhelmed, panicked reaction?

  • @Eriks0Angel I've just been wondering the same damn thing! Then I saw your comment! *highfives*

  • @Eriks0Angel He always intended the fake death to be a last resort way out, so he was still hoping to be able to talk Moriarty into calling off the assassins. When that third option is cut off, he's momentarily stunned because he knows he'll have to fake his own death and just because it surprised him.

Because if he always intended the fake death why didn't he just jump as soon as he got onto the roof?

  • @Stevie2Sxc Agreed. Also, I think he really, really didn't want to have to do it. Faking his own death inevitably meant a lot of terrible pain for his friends... and it means he can't resurface until he's taken down Moriarty's whole crime ring, since if he does "come back to life" the kill order is likely still in effect. And taking down Moriarty's whole operation is probably going to be difficult as hell.

So he's panicking because he's still trying to find a way out of all that.

  • @Stevie2Sxc Indeed, i mean Sherlock did ask Molly Hopper for help and then the fact that when he was about to jump the first time, Sherlock did ask Moriarty for a moment of privacy, maybe to have enough time pull his "fake death" stunt and make sure that Moriarty cound´t see the deception.

  • @Eriks0Angel Did you say "like moi"? You speak french? Just asking :)

  • @HarryPotterRocks0930 Oui! Aha, no I know like 3 words in french, no thanks at all to my french gcse!

  • For the people who don't know,

The soundtrack used in this scene is called

"Prepared to do anything". It's gonna be released soon :)

  • Moriarty doesn't like it.

  • I was like =O when I saw this scene, could not believe my eyes...

  • @ninjaqueen6660 It's not that we doubt he could, it's that we doubt he would.

If he did fake his death (haven't taken sides on that argument yet), and he did do it in the way you described, I would be VERY disappointed. It's not the Moriarty we've come to know. That's too simple and boring.

  • The only good thing about Moriarty's death is that we get to have Colonel Sebastian Moran (aka. "Mr. Fucking Badass Sniper SAS Bastard") take over his criminal web in the next series :D

  • Well, that's hard faking that death. On thing for sure.

  • I HATE MORIARTY!

  • I really feel that this was some kind of set up. We've seen Sherlock attack and disarm a number of people, it would have been very easy to take the gun away had he tried.

  • @blindgumby

But Sherlock didn't know that Mortiart was going to do that, and they were in the middle of a handshake, so Moriarty had Sherlock's right hand. It would have been difficult for Sherlock to twist and use his left hand to prevent him from killing himself. I don't think there was a reason for Sherlock to do that in the first place, he wanted Moriarty dead. And he had planned his own fake death beforehand. All that was needed was for Moriarty to die, why would Sherlock save him. =)

  • Hmmm ..I was having suspicions that Moriarty also faked his death. Because seriously, there was no news of his body. But then a thought occurred to me; Moriarty thought his plan was gonna work, he thought Sherlock was a dead man walking. And then the whole speech of how they would shake hands in hell. It was almost like Moriarty was like, "Meet ya in hell Sherlock."

  • I think he is alive. After all, did we see the news of his death on a newspaper? I think not...

  • Moriarty BBC > Moriarty, Game of Shadows.

I love him, he's so brirlliantly insane in the series... in the movie he's just ordinary.

  • @siridavidsen Good im with you. Just... booring.

  • @siridavidsen I wouldn't say he's better. Every version of sherlock holmes is different in his own way..but can you say he is ordinary when he had sherlock hooked to a meat hook with a magnifying phone for ALL of the city to hear. That is not ordinary in the sane manes world..xD

  • @Zurezule

No, of course not, I meant he was ordinary in his reasons for doing so, though I know he was insane aswell. Because he did it for money, while this Moriarty just is plain evil :)

  • @siridavidsen I see what you did there.

  • @siridavidsen He's ORDINARY! (Couldn't avoid saying it)

  • I couldn't believe this when I watched it, I was like "what.the.hell.just.happened?"

  • The tie for cleverest person on the planet, and you all doubt he could do something as simple as fire a blank gun with a bitty blood capsule attached to the back of his head? Please. There can't be a leader of the angels without a leader of the devils.

Moriarty wasn't real, he /is/ real.

  • Sebastian Moran dislikes this.

  • I wasn't only shocked by this ending, I was also incredibly sad that unless Moriarty also faked his death, Andrew Scott won't be on the show anymore and we won't have any psychotic, creepy, hysterical Moriarty anymore D:

  • Sherlock Holmes, the world's most brilliant detective, faked his death in the most impossible, indecipherable way... now what's to say that Jim Moriarty, the world's most notorious criminal, couldn't do the same thing? ;)

  • @Scrummy64 yeah i kinda think jim faked his death too

  • Moriarty was the best player. He didn't doubt to shoot himself just to win! He could easily shoot Sherlock but he wanted to win. And he did, even if Sherlock didn't die, he had to hide and he lost his reputation. Too bad Jimmy died...

  • What's the music that plays in this scene?

  • The real Moriarty is still alive!!!

  • @josh2000film I guess he's stayin' alive.

If you know what i mean *smoulder*

  • @miss8capricorn The Moriarty we see is not the real Moriarty.

  • That look at "Bless you"...can't decide if it looks like, "thanks for giving me an excuse to kill myself"

  • He is definately not dead!

  • I honestly doubt Moriarty is dead...andrew scott is such a good actor, would they really kill him off?

  • I hate moriarty!

  • @iamverysherlocked

    aww.... But he's cool guy.

  • omg i got a heart attack when moriarty shot himself.... AND DAMN SAD.

  • Hmm...Moriarty starts to fall LONG before we hear the gunshot, probably to make sure the fake blood doesn't get on his clothes...;). Those eyes, that smile...oh, Moriarty.

  • he's not really dead, trust me.

  • Sherlock is definitely shocked when Moriarty killed himself (could this be the OOC moment?). He has no need to pretend to be shocked - there's nobody else on the roof with him. Does that mean Moriarty's death wasn't part of the plan?

  • This was the most shocking moment I have ever seen on TV.

  • Sherlock disliked this because of the conundrum Moriarty put him in. :)

  • Also check the video, holmes pulls away when he fires the shot, and you dont see blood spatter out the top of his head when you get the first full body glance of him at 0:20

everyones out to proof sherlock's escape. im out to proof Moriarty isnt dead! maybe thats what we missed ?

  • Moriarty = not dead

proof: Gun fired blank + he had som kind of packet/pill/device that would leak "blood"

Holmes doesent check his pulse and asumes he's dead. he could've taken a few breaths when he doesent look at him later. and once holmes falls.... he f*cks off.

  • @JCGproductionFiles all these theories don´t say much, really, because we have to account for the editing. they edited the scene so that we, the viewers, wouldn´t see the horrible detail of somebody blowing his own head off. sherlock´s reaction shows us what the camera doesn´t. moriarty didn´t expect this outcoem or he would have prepared a death that would be less hard to disprove (no way he could have risked sherlock checking the pulse). he´s dead, jim.

  • I wasn't sad for Sherlock when he fell. But I was furious, outraged and sick with anger when I saw Momo's death. :'<

    I really worship Moriarty. :'<

  • I think Jim is still alive. He has shaken Sherlock hands and all those who were doing that before, were killed. Maybe Moriarty has not killed himself. He waited for someone, we could not see to shooting at him? And shake the hands was a sign? Although he was injured but not fatally. The rest was just a spectacle for Sherlock. It took a lot of self-control, at least he was injured, but he may have madeit so? That's my theory. I hope Moriarty is still alive, what's Sherlock without him? :D

  • @AlessandraKl92 check my theory in the comments

  • @JCGproductionFiles, Sherlock failed to deduce the situation correctly? You mean Moriarty fooled Holmes with a blank/squig combo special effect? Highly unlikely. Moriarty is dead, I think it is safe to say.

  • OMG !!

It will be less funny with JIMMY !! T_T

  • Anyone capable of outsmarting Sherlock at almost every turn and laying a Xanatos Gambit trap so brilliantly is easily capable of faking his own death. Anything Sherlock can do, Moriarty can do better.

  • it scared the crap outta me. this damn scene, it just shows you how fucked up moriarty is o.ö

  • does anyone know the music to this ???

  • @95shea Custom theme that hasn't been put on a soundtrack. Which is annoying.
