that price would have been with the 2.5 L. Given the Wrangler's weight level, the performance would hardly be earth shattering and that engine was not known for being super tough, either. I like Sammys...not only can they climb, but the gas mileage would beat the 2.5 L, and given it's minimal advantage speed wise... I would take the Samurai for more MPGs alone.
Ive owned both. Stock and lifted both. and I gotta say to be completely honest the suzuki def is better on the trails. they are so small and light they just go anywhere and do anything. The short wheel base is perfect for rock crawling. My jeep on the other hand I find bottoming out over everything, and constently not making hill climbs due to weight. I wish I could say jeeps were the better rig cuz I am an American. but in truth they arnt.... :(
@Marzocchirider6 ummm yea ive also had both and used both, but because the jeep had vastly more power to weight it was better off road. it could make it up hills much easier than the suzuki, did your jeep have the 4 cyl? mine had the best engine of all time the 4.0 ho i6 perhaps that is why it was so much better. oh yea, and the lower gears, stock i might add. and the fact that i could comfortably take 3 friends with me
@DieselFreak94 yeah but a sammy's got a shorter wheel base and is 1000 pounds lighter. And thats what matters on the trail. hahaha not horse power and and passenger room!
Damn, we need some "Interweb's Troll Milk" for Maestro, hes acting like a little bitch and needs to be destroyed. I vanquish you Interweb's Troll *splashes of milk* and everyone knows that what Toyota and the other Japanese companies have to offer in terms of offroad capability. There's the FJ... wait... nah, no solid axles and weighs more than an elephant. There's um... the err... Honda CR-V? hahahaha. Maybe if they brought back the Suzuki Samurai or Toyota FJ 40 Id think about it. JEEPS RULE
I got a chuckle out of this: "...and you get all this at Wrangler's lowest price in years". Considering the Wrangler made its debut in 1987 and this commercial is from 1988, it was its lowest price in what...all TWO years that it had been offered up until that point? LOL
You yanks are missing the point with terrain cars, they are suppose to be light weight and compact. Its the power/weight ratio that counts, ps american cars are too thirsty for us scandinavians.

Well any car is better than an American car, let alone the Swedish Volvo.
I mean seriously you American car fanboys, what more proof do you want than your American car companies living off public money donations? Go hide in dirt you bunch of failures.

i couldnt agree with lostzuk more and might i add that jeep owners are the biggest dicks in the world when i comes to the trails. just because we be 5x less money into our cars to make them badass doesnt give you the right to hog the trails with you gas guzzlin terdmobile
thats funny, considering the japanese companies, including Toyota have asked their government for bail outs already.....Jeep is one of the few currently profitable companies left, so please, go take your BS information and pathetic feeble mind elsewhere.

American companies are failing because of people like you who can't tell facts from bullshit and only know half the story to everything. We are talkin bailout to keep manufacturing and operations afloat. I'm shocked that you Jeep fanboys still have guts to come out and speak. Everyone knows American means ineffecient, bulky, useless, rust prone cars. Now you can add the begging soon-to-be-bankrupt to the list..HAHAHA
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
American cars are smoked from every aspect. Performance = European, Reliability = Japanese, Efficiency = Japanese. It's about time you go bankrupt and get out of the market.
@The1965Ghost Just Expect Expensive Parts = JEEP. A Samurai is a $ 20.000 difference but mine still does more. :-) If I break an axle i need to work 2 days till i earned it back. If you break a Jeep its axle I need to work 2 weeks or so. And be serious, we've seen Jeep breaking parts a lot more than Samurais. Just a simple truth. :-)
@88zukcrawler hahaha well I was raised with a Jeep Willys so Im more towards jeep. Ive seen some of those little Samurais out roughin it before. Those are pretty compact. Could get through some tight spaces. They actually kinda remind me of the little toy cars lol
@The1965Ghost I have liked Jeeps since 1965. I have a Jeep now. I will always have a Jeep. There is only one Jeep. But keep your racists comments to yourself.

Two great trucks, but the Samurai is damn small compared to a Wrangler.
