i remember these old tiny noisy things i come from the island moved off when i was 19 am now 42 but ive been on all the old and new ferrys hydrofoils fast cats the slow ferry that left the pier head to the state of the art big toys they use now, i go on hols with my family and kids there almost every yr and 2011 i got film of new hover on u tube as well as whats not left of blackgang chine
Great film. Takes me back to family holidays in Southsea. I can still smell the burning kerosene now. The modern diesel craft somehow seem just a bit too bus-like for me. The old SRN6s seemed somehow more aeronautical.
Brings back great memories of growing up in Portsmouth - thanks.
Where did you get your telecine done? I have Standard and Super 8mm films from that time - one very similar to yours of the SRN6's. Would love to dig them out and transfer them - before they decay completely.
Telecine (transfer to VHS tape) was done in the mid-1980s by a company called Black Cat Video, based in Potters Bar, but I don't know if they're still in business. You should be able to get transfer to DVD. Check your splices!
