Actually judges are not as arbitrary as Ray makes them out to be. They commute sentences, they grant compassionate releases, they don't just say, you broke the law, your gonna pay regardless of everything.

Just because life is complex does not make it orderly - it is in fact the opposite. You may believe in God, but even then God 'comes from nothing' - arguing that He is eternal and needs no explanation leads to an intellectual dead end so it is not credible as an argument. But, the truth is diverting a debate on evolution to a debate about the existence of God is a Red Herring in itself because the two debates fundamentally are unrelated. Most people both believe in God and accept evolution.
Well, there are a few issues with what you describe. For one, evolution and the big bang really do have virtually nothing to do with one another. That's kind of a gross oversimplification... you have to repent, but that is not something you "have to do" to get saved, but something that you do once you are saved because what you want changes. You also don't need to "stop sinning" in the sense of actually "being perfect" yourself. Jesus fills that side of the equation for you.

Actually judges are not as arbitrary as Ray makes them out to be. They commute sentences, they grant compassionate releases, they don't just say, you broke the law, your gonna pay regardless of everything.

Scientists like Hawking and Kaku are on the bleeding edge of cosmological research so their theories might be difficult to grasp, and are being refined as more data becomes available. What do you mean by "missing links"? If you're talking about gaps in the fossil record you don't understand the fundamentals of evolutionary change. every fossil is a link there is no definitive line where 1 species ends and the next begins

@cplagoons 1) it's not disgusting that we evolved from mammals b/c we are mammals and we're still evolving, the difference is we've gotten civilized (some of us anyway) and attained a higher level of consciousness. 2) who started the big bang? there is no reason to think that anyone started it; it was an inevitable spontaneous subatomic action that created a quickly expanding fabric of spacetime. There was no one to create it b/c there is no "before the big bang"...

Sure it's possible there is something outside this universe (maybe even a causal force) but the is no reason to worship it since there is not the slightest shred of evidence it's interested in us.

But i don't believe God is dealing out any punishment at all b/c I find the idea of God preposterous in the first place. It just doesn't make logical sense and I am simply unable to believe; not only that, if I understand the dogma correctly, I wouldn't even want there to be a god. It's my greatest hope that there is no God.

@timsh6 Whether you go to Heaven (assuming you are saved) at the moment of death or later is a debatable point and is really of no consequence. Ray Comfort is evangelizing to the lost their need for a Savior (Jesus Christ) and what they must do to be saved. His teaching and his approach are biblical. I really don't understand what your objection is. If you have another way of doing this, that's fine. But, who are you to criticize one of God's servant's? Don't you fear God?

Just because life is complex does not make it orderly - it is in fact the opposite. You may believe in God, but even then God 'comes from nothing' - arguing that He is eternal and needs no explanation leads to an intellectual dead end so it is not credible as an argument. But, the truth is diverting a debate on evolution to a debate about the existence of God is a Red Herring in itself because the two debates fundamentally are unrelated. Most people both believe in God and accept evolution.

Well, there are a few issues with what you describe. For one, evolution and the big bang really do have virtually nothing to do with one another. One is a theory regarding the creation of the universe, the other one is a fact and an accompanying theory about the dynamics of life (having little to do with the creation of life). Discrediting one part of the Bible in order to discredit the whole is a tactic imposed on us by creationists, due to their zealous belief in its inerrancy.

Every discovery made since Darwin has reinforced and strengthened his theory, which is why it has become the most basic unifying paradigm within all science. The fossil record has been forged? Come again? Right, believing in global scientific conspiracy requires a much larger leap of faith than either believing in God or accepting evolution does.

@woelfl22 Now that I think on it, you must be referring to the one or two discoveries out of thousands that the scientific community itself has deemed fraudulent - they are irrelevant as, like I said, there are thousands and thousands of authentic fossils clearly indicating evolution - no species that existed millions of years ago still exists, and no modern species existed millions of years ago. The fossil record plainly illustrates a simple > complex hierarchy.

It shows speciation like gradual evolution of avian dinosaurs into birds and primitive mammals into the complex families we see today, including many examples of extinct primates like A. Africanus to primitive "ape-men" like Homo Habilis, H. Erectus, H. Neanderthalensis, H. Floriensis, H. Ergaster - the evidence for macroevolution is quite literally overwhelming, which is why scientists are so dogmatic about it - it's as much fact as gravity.

Observe how many species of insects there are (many millions) versus how many species of mammals there are (few thousand) and understand why - because the insect lifespan is short, individuals are very small, and populations become reproductively isolated easily - which results in dramatic divergence of species.

For instance, Evolution and the Big Bang are two different things, however they both rely on each other to some extent (if you disprove one, the other is significantly weakened, if not nullified). Atheists often use this tactic with Christianity (disproving one part of the Bible can weaken the whole thing).

The word Aion or Aionios is the word that the (Mis) Translators translated into Forever, Eternal, Forever and Ever.
So you can see the problem!
If they translate a sentence that goes like this: "And they will be Eternally (Aionios) Punished in the lake of fire". What do you do with THAT??? Now if you say, it means "Eternal", then God proclaims Satan the Eternal God. If you don't go for that, then you MUST ADMIT that The True God blinds people to the truth!!!!

If Aion is to mean: forever, Eternal, forever and ever, etc,then that would mean that God himself is declaring Satan the true Eternal GOD!!!
OR,.It means that you HAVE to admit that God (The Real One True God) does BLIND THE MINDS of people in this AGE, for his purposes and reasons!!!

Eternal life is a bad translation of what the Original Language meant.
What Eternal life REALLY IS,...IS KNOWING GOD AND JESUS CHRIST!!
Eternal (Aionios) Punishment is NOT KNOWING GOD.
Well of course we KNOW THIS, since we can see by living our lives in our day to day activities that there are people who believe and those who do NOT believe.
But As I have SHOWN and PROVEN to you,.....EVENTUALLY EVERYONE WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE,....which is knowing God and Jesus Christ!

And we know that "Zoe" means "Life" or "Believing", since believing in Jesus Christ and God IS LIFE ITSELF.
We can understand that in the present time, MOST will NOT believe via God's PLAN!

mahhootenanny, you make a good point when referring to the ark. It is a shadow of the things to come, BUT mostly with the ark of the covenant.
The time of Jesus is a NEW AGE and God is NOW dealing with Jews AND GENTILES.

If you do not recognize THIS, then you are denying the VERY WORD OF GOD.
One man came in sin to the World and one man came salvation to the WHOLE WORLD.
NO MAN!! Seeks after God,...NO NOT ONE!!
If this is true, then it MUST be up to God to seek out the sinner.
And if GOD is the seeker and he is NO respecter of persons, then he MUST save everyone.
Not to mention that an ALL knowing God cannot CLAIM to be savior of the WHOLE world when he knew he would never save the whole world!

He didn't save everyone from the flood, but only Noah and his family. This applies to salvation and damnation as well. Noah preached righteousness but he was ignored.
Are you in the boat or out of it? You need to repent and trust Jesus, not in universalism. Judgment is coming and you are either of the few in the ark or the majority outside it.

He must eventually give salvation to all.
In the "Here and Now" some are called and then Chosen and will inherit the Kingdom of God and some will not.
But EVENTUALLY, YES everyone will have Eternal life.
For as I have mentioned with the scripture of John 17:2 and 3:35 you can see that since Jesus was given all, the all MUST be saved.
Not to mention that your talking about something temporal with the Noah reference. There is a HUGE difference between your pagan hell and dying in a flood.

If you deny that God gives EVERYONE life Eternal then you deny the Word of God.
Because as you can see, God gives life eternal to as many as God has given to Christ.

Hence all will be given eternal life.
You cannot deny scripture.

That's kind of a gross oversimplification... you have to repent, but that is not something you "have to do" to get saved, but something that you do once you are saved because what you want changes. You also don't need to "stop sinning" in the sense of actually "being perfect" yourself. Jesus fills that side of the equation for you.
Romans, chapter 7, is where answers to this will be found. Read the whole book anyway.

Nah, actually my teachers never talked about damnation when I was growing up in sunday school; neither did the pastors when I got older (although I slept through 99% sermons anyway). I found out about this myself by reading Revelation when I was a kid.

But notice that it says: "While we were stil sinners Christ died for us"
You DO notice that ALL are sinners. So what does that mean to us?
Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
If the ALL are condemned,.... then the SAME ALL have Justification of LIFE!
