Remember when the house cup was one of the more important things in their lives as opposed to keeping themselves alive? Yeah.. I remember those days. :3
I love this! I was an extra in this scene (back of my head by the cauldron between 12-18 seconds, the ginger kid). It was so much fun, and Alan Rickman is such a great actor. Went back to Lacock Abbey where this scene was filmed (in the cloister section) and it is so odd- they really transformed it for the film!
i still don't get why they called it the philosopher's stone originally. was nicholas flamel a philosopher???? and sorcerer's stone just has a better ring to it, simply put.
@zuzu2593 That was the original name J.K. Rowling gave it. Philosopher is linked with alchemy. The stone is an actual legend. Overall, philosopher makes so much more sense, but Scholastic thought it was best to change it to make it understandable to American readers.
@dancelikewitherwings ok, i live in america, and everyone here knows what the word "philosopher" means. no, american is not THAT dumb, for you information.
@zuzu2593 Dude, I live in America too. I was born and raised in Florida... I was just explaining why Scholastic did it, not implying that I felt that way.
How come they didn't do the house points/house cup in any of the movies after the first? I don't think it's in the books after the first or second either, is it?
I wish they didn't cut this. What they left in was so tense and its obvious where the scene goes--if you read the book, you were just waiting for --"Why don't you ask Hermione--she seems to know" (forget exact words)
I wish they didn't cut these scenes out of the movie. They give the movie more sense. Thumbs up if you think they should have kept these in! Silence...i kill you lol.
...And Gryffindors note that five points will be taken from your house for YOUR CLASSMATE'S CHEEK. Ohh I love how he says that. And, if looks could kill, Harry wouldn't have had to worry about Voldemort. lol
What's amazing is that the things Snape tells Harry from his VERY FIRST POTIONS CLASS have a HUGE effect later on in the series, even saving Ron's life at one point.
I know Snape is being a dick no matter what in this scene, but seriously? He didn't even know magic existed like 4 days before that class lol. How was he supposed to know those answers?
@wclaurence Thumbs Up if you think that THEY NEED to make us, the fans, extended cuts of movies 3 and 4 since they didn't do it for the ultimate editions this year?!? they cut a hell lot of scenes out of Goblet of Fire. there are pics online of those cut scenes.
