  • That's a NICE picture of Lakshmi Singh

  • So this video takes me right to "Robotic Vagina" in the related vids section...that picture is worth a thousand crotch moves...click!

  • There's more raw footage you can use if you make a part II. Google: dan savage ira glass The latest Savage Love podcast features Ira

  • The sincerest form of flattery, the lowest form of satire.

  • So funny. Don't be sad, Ira! Just a spoof and a good one!

  • ON POINT

  • I only wish it had contained more discouraging comments from Jonathan Goldstein! And that Ira would comment on this in this American Life. A show about being made fun of, perhaps?

  • Good stuff ; )!

  • I laughed SO HARD at "NPR Member Station".

  • Use of Perpetuum Mobile makes me a happy person.

  • wow! great job

  • I don't care if it ruins my career, I want a filthy voice mail greeting by Carl Kasell.

  • This is so fantastic - well done to everyone involved!

  • Best line: I was going to do what neither Click nor Clack had the balls to do. I was going to tap it, brother.

  • In my mind funnest thing ever. I love these people so much.

  • I love that I am nerdy enough to laugh out loud at the jokes in this. Alex Bloomberg SO wishes he was Ira Glass.

  • this is absolutely spot on.

  • This is a heart breaking work of staggering genius.

  • you know this is made for you when you can identify the real fresh air interviews that were excerpted

  • Hilarious and thought provoking.

  • Ira put this out as a joke. This is really him.

  • Seriously? This is PERFECT. <3

  • I really liked this. I guess that means that I really am a nerd. Man....

  • Are you sure this isn't Ira himself? It's the kind of show that he might do if he could get away with it, which is a compliment.

    I'm just sayin'.

  • Well written, well acted, well produced. This is a perfect parody.

  • This is amazing in so many ways, and the satire makes those of us who are snobbish about our radio listening paradoxically even more snobbish for getting all the references.

  • Absolutely Brilliant!!!

  • Tears. Actual, literal tears from laughing. Brilliant.

  • Perfect!!!

  • This is genius!!

  • Everything down to the title "Ain't Too Proud to Craig," the Grazing in the Grass background music, and the Mr. Torey Malatia quote was SPOT ON. (As was the Ira Glass impression, obviously.) Kudos on making a bunch of liberal elites giggle like school girls!

  • this is the most amazing then EVER! omg!!

  • This was fucking AMAZING. The voices, the music - everything was spot on. Well done.

  • brilliant!

  • Stunning. Perfect. Where most parodies take an idea and use it as a vehicle for jokes, you took a funny idea and took it where it was meant to go.

  • So spot on it's scary! I love the Jonathan Goldstein comments and calling Alex Blumberg the more macho half of Planet Money and Wait Wait Don't Cum Yet...

  • really, dan savage had nothing to say? i suppose that would've been too easy...

  • so much babe-lier than ryan gosling in that blue-grey suit.

YOU NEED IT IN EVERY COLOR, IRA.

  • You mad genius! Great Job

  • Awesome... So awesome. Thanks Julian and Michael.

  • Hilarious. The attention to detail was fantastic. It took me a minute to realize that wasn't Ira. Great job.

  • This is really quite funny. Someone make a copy cos it'll get taken down, I'm sure.

  • And after all that, there's a message to be had. This is pure genius.

  • You totally nailed this.

  • Terry Gross impression is spot on. Or is it? Was it just cut from actual recordings?

  • @YoonaNeomuYeppeoSeo they are recordings of terry from her interview with Gene Simmons.

  • @YoonaNeomuYeppeoSeo

It's from a Fresh Air episode where she interviewed a woman who wrote a book about her former occupation as a dominatrix.

  • This is just genius!

  • @SwampThizzle Wow. Somebody's keeping a little closet gay inside.

  • You have strayed into the realm of genius

  • Your NPR Member station !

  • Awesome. When he was making the phone call, I half-expected it to be Sarah Vowell, haha.

  • @ResIpsaLoquitor85 Yes! Sarah Vowell as a phone sex operator would be hilarious!

  • @luckygrrrlz Haha, there's an episode where he's trying to teach her how to drive (as Vowell never learned) that probably would have provided some good comments too.

  • this gave my brain a boner.

  • Well done you!

  • Superb.

  • This is too perfect!

  • Awesome job! I'm pleased you used a photo that I took of Ira at around 2:05-2:26, where he's wearing earphones. He was being interviewed on KUER's Radio West, an amazing daily radio show that can also be found as a podcast. Anyway, you've captured the TAL ethos brilliantly!

  • Could have used more dirty talk from Terry Gross.

  • Finally someone mocking TAL's paint by numbers pseudo aesthetic.

  • Six people are averse to sexy nerdy voices. What a shame.

  • oh not yet not yet. who else wonders if these sexual grunts actually match ira's?

  • every now and then the internet produces a gem this pure and perfect. kudos

  • "very special thanks to our guest, terry gross, who i have to say, is anything but" amazing

  • leaders of the mormon church raped and tortured me :(

  • LOL ! "I was actually gonna do...what neither Click nor Clack...had the balls to do. I was gonna tap it, brother."

  • This is done so well. I want to know what Ira thought of this.

  • @msunyata "I've listened to about three minutes of it. His imitation of my writing and delivery are so dead-on, it was hard to keep listening and I stopped. If I had to articulate why, I think it was because hearing his version of me, made what I do on the air seem kind of dumb. And the impersonation was so good, I couldn't really pick a fight with it. So I had to decide, do I want to see myself as kind of trite and dumb? Seemed better to stop. Maybe I'll go back sometime."

  • @mwilykat Taking himself too seriously?

  • I LOVE it! I'll make a sex tape with you, Ira!

  • This is actual perfection, sweet jesus.

  • A loving parody. I'm sure Ira would love it.

  • No thank you, Lakshmi S. XD

  • This is pure brilliance.

  • Brilliant.

  • I feel like this is fake, but I honestly can't tell. It's too perfect.

  • Flawless.

  • you sexy thang..

  • This is so awesome....

  • This is absolutely perfect. Fantastic work!

  • Best idea ever. Fantastic execution.

  • Thank you. Just, thank you. My life is complete now.

  • nerdy intellectuals with nasally voices, i.e. Jews

  • Wow, even the spoofs of TAL are incredibly well done:

    KUDOS TO YOU, SIR!!!!!!!

  • @noahjohnpinto wait wait don't tell me...you're a wet blanket

  • Great video, but Ira Glass is not an NPR superstar. This American Life is produced by PRI - Public Radio International. PRI is an NPR competitor. Because public radio stations buy from both, people assume they're the same thing, but they aren't.

  • @noahjohnpinto "It's actually two separate organizations for pretentious Commies who beg for money." ROFL.

  • Wow! I never knew!

  • This IS the most perfect thing on the internet.

  • I, for one, am desperately seeking a partial-nude Rolling Stone-esque (picture his dress shirt unbuttoned, tie loosened, glasses pushed down ever so slightly...) poster of Ira for the walls of my college dorm room. Or a blown up image to cover the entire wall. Or to cover the entire room. Or the whole college. Get on that, Ira.

  • Ira Glass is a sexxay bitch.

  • "or like i like to call it, your npr member station"

  • Wait. I'm an idiot. It is him, but taken out of context. Move along...

    (Pretty hilarious, though!)

  • That has to be the real Alex Blumberg, right?

  • What is the name of the song at 8:50? It's driving me nuts!

  • @madcoverboy Penguin Cafe Orchestra's "Perpetuum Mobile"

  • Love

  • Terry Gross voted dislike 4 times? lolz...

  • Not only is the imitation perfect, the style is just like This American Life. If Ira did a sex tape, he would spend time discussing everything behind the scenes that led up to it, how he felt about it afterwards, and wrap it all up with an inconclusive conclusion full of "maybes".

  • Never miss an episode of "This American Life" --- one of the best shows ever made.

  • this is so ehffing well done i want to cry

  • I regret that I have but one thumb to give.

  • This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen.

  • "The Stamberglar" lol

  • Ira Glass is a stone-cold stud and YOU KNOW IT.

  • Loving the penguin cafe orchestra at the end. I laughed.

  • That's one hell of an Ira Glass impression

  • I've arrived at lolz. Also, Robert Ashley sent me here.

  • This is the most astoundingly pitch-perfect impression/parody I've ever heard.

  • This was freaking great.

  • This is amazing :D

  • 4 people are assholes.

  • I LOVE IRA GLASS!!!!! AND DAVID SEDARIS!!!!! <3

  • Completely brilliant. "We know pledge drives....and I mean REALLY filthy!"

  • [applause]

  • I'm confused. Ira is definitely more hot than not. Why insist we pretend otherwise?

  • Brilliant.

  • Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Somewhat unfunny.

  • OH GOD. YOU'VE GOT THE OTHERS DOWN PAT TOO. ALEX GOLDSTEIN AND THE PRODUCER. AND THE BACKGROUND MUSIC.

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS PERFECT. IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIM. *JUST* *LIKE* *HIM.*

  • This lesbian wishes Ira would do a real sex tape!!!

  • I was sitting here listening, thinking this is so well produced that it would be worthy of a spot on TAL itself.

But then you'd have a War of the Worlds kind of thing going on: as unsuspecting listeners tuned in, we'd be going "WTF? WTF? OMG, the world is ending..." Chaos would ensue.

  • Well done!

  • Love, love, love

  • I am constantly telling people that TAL is my favorite show ever, in any medium. Anytime someone new gets into my car, they MUST listen to TAL. My college classes listen to selections from various episodes. It's the only thing in I've ever been shameless about selling to people. As crazy cat ladies are to cats, I am to TAL.

Having said all that: This parody is KILLER. Best thing on YouTube! You've got the nuances of Ira's voice and delivery down cold, and the scripting is Oscar-worthy. THANKS!!

  • Guys, this is amazing. Thank you.

  • SO BRILLIANT.

  • this is the BEST thing i've ever experienced. ever.

  • @JennyroseC im sad for you

  • A very special thanks to our guest, Terry Gross (who I have to say is anything but).

  • I think I'm going to increase my donation to NPR after this... :)

  • This is perfection.

  • this has got to be the funniest thing i've ever heard.

  • who are these people that dislike everything that's good in the world? honestly - if you dislike everything, just go away. hating things is not a virtue. it's not. it's not funny or insightful or slick. the fact that you don't enjoy life at all should be on your tombstone, not on youtube. just. kill. yourself. now. don't think about it, just do it.

  • Is the phone call beeps the theme to sex and the city?

  • Pitch-perfect.

  • Fuckin' Awesome :)

  • This is best damn thing ever created.

  • Thumbs up if this turned you on a little...

  • Awe. Some.

  • It needs more crappy indie bands tuning their guitars interstitially.

  • This is a pitch perfect parody of TAL.

  • Great job! I knew that Carl Kassel was a freak.

  • My god :) My god.

  • "Or, as she calls it, the 'NPR Member Station'"

    Bravo.

  • Someone has been inspired by Sal and Richard! Well done and Hey Now!!

  • I laughed so hard I spilled my organic Earl Gray tea on my new NPR tote. Damnit! Ah well. Totally worth it. Great stuff!!

  • This is absolutely amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • WOW

  • people don't imagine Ira in nothing but his glasses?

  • I don't think I have ever laughed this hard. My goodness, this is amazing!

  • You just won my heart.

  • This really might be the most perfect thing on the Internet.

  • @martinspencerbell I was just about to post THE EXACT SAME THING.

  • Incredible. Spot on.

  • so good

  • Outstanding!

  • Brilliant!
