  • No worries. Thanks again for posting those terrific 'Airport '75" clips!!!!

  • why didn't she clear all that crap out of the way first?

  • @ancalites BECAUSE SHE IS A FEMALE WHOSE MIND IS SCRAMBLED BY ALL THE EXCITEMENT.....SHE IS ONLY GOOD FOR, 69ING, DOGGIE STYLE, SPOONS, WHEEL BARREL, AND THE REST OF KAMA SUTRA SEXUAL POSITIONS!

  • That jaw-dropping scenes of a man on a tether in front of a 747 were actually filmed by a French stuntman(whose name unfortunately escapes me right now). Obviously, if his trajectory had been off by even a few feet in ANY direction, the stuntman could have verrry easily been sucked right into one of those 747's engines. Luckily, the stunt was successful. Just wish they hadn't included those verrrrry obvious/phony-looking in-studio "insert" shots 'cuz they kinda undermine this amazing stunt work.

  • @pluntze2001 Uhh. The stunt was performed by legendary stuntman Yakima Canut. Heston talks about it in his book. It was so cold for the stuntman that he actually had ice forming on his nose. The director wanted to shoot the stunt for real with the stuntman actually falling in one shot with a safety parachute. But the airline renting the plane would only allow the stuntman to get within 20 feet of the plane. The rest is all studio. Good stunt though!!

  • @roquefortfiles

Sure it wasn't Yakima's SON, Joe (who was also a stuntman)??? I think the father was deceased by 1975, wasn't he??? Either way, thanks so much for contacting me about it recently. Hope you have a great holiday season!!!

  • @pluntze2001 Sorry!!! Yes absolutely correct. Brain fart on the name!!

  • Why is she cross-eyed?

  • There are many things that don't make sense:

    1. The helicopter is maintaining speed even though its nose is level, which instead should cause it to slow down.

    2. The oxygen masks would have dropped at the initial altitude of 12'000 ft.

    3. I may be wrong, but wouldn't the jet's engines suck the pilot being transferred?

  • @MyVideoHubOnDell The stunt was actually done for real. The stuntman was lowered to within 20 feet of the jet. That is all the airline renting the jet would allow. The helicopter is a Jolly green Giant. The 747 was probably on a low fuel load to enable it to fly slow. Its likely all at about 180 knts. The director wanted to shoot the stuntman falling away in live action but the airline would not agree to it. The rest is studio. Still not a bad sequence for 1975.

  • Why didnt u upload the video in parts like part 1 part 2etc... so we know what video to watch next you fucking moron!

  • @danielc365 Why don't you upload the video yourself if you don't like the format of the clips? Lazy whining bastard.

  • @icemachine79 How about you suck a DICK little bitch

  • There are museums that display jet airliners; I've been to them (and, for what it's worth, there are museums for busses and trains and streetcars -- they are a part of our collective past, created by artists and craftsmen). My dad was a commercial aviation pilot for 21 years; my brother is one now. I still, to this day, when I drive by an airport, I thrill to sight of the aircraft taking off and landing.

  • They need to number the sections of this movie like they do to most movies on You Tube. Looking for the sections of this movie in the right sequence is difficult.

  • Not like they'd give anyone like that a parachute? Also, why the hell is this release pull so easy to snag? Safety hazard, or movie plot device?

  • Comment removed

  • They'd have given him a parachute :P

  • they will be in salt lake....but you wont buddy

  • @roquefortfiles You've prolly never seen a Connie in flight, sonny!

  • @artieroo Concorde? Mmeeh!! Yeah its a nice plane no doubt but to me it does not have the commanding presence of a 47!! Besides it starred in a REALLY bad movie which actually is funnier than AIRPLANE but it was not meant to be.

  • @roquefortfiles No. I mean, the Lockheed Constellation, that was hailed as the queen of the skies at their time.As elegant and graceful as a gazelle. But its time came and went, and I'm afraid the same will happen to the 747.

  • @artieroo Ahhh!! Yes!! A beautiful plane you are right. I just personally like the 47. It still captures my imagination. Its that whole..dawn of a new age, super jumbo, upper lounge, huge size classic Boeing field roll out image i still have in my head whenever i see it. You can keep the A 380 big sure but its butt ugly. The 47 just has cool lines in all the right areas. I love its design. But yes you are right it will probably disappear eventually. I can always watch AP 75!!

  • @roquefortfiles

Who the hell is going to look at a jet airliner from the outside at 30,000 feet OR as it stands parked next to some gate?? Nobody.

For the passengers it's what's inside the counts more than anything.

It's a passenger jet, not some supercar you park outside a casino in some tropical paradise.

Also compared to pretty much any other form of aircraft these people carriers are among the dullest looking of all, and why? Because they all look almost exactly the same.

  • @McLarenMercedes I am sure you will find commercial aviation buffs who strongly disagree with you. I get your points for sure. I am only talking in the realm of the commercial jet. Aesthetically it is one of the nicer jets to photograph in flight. And we are only talking the "marvel" of flight. There is still not much that compares to a 747 coming in for a landing for simply going.. WOW.

That is pretty much all i mean in my posts. Don't read too much in to it.

  • @roquefortfiles

Nobody cares about how aesthetically pleasing a bus is or a train for that matter. Jet airliners are huge sky buses, and you won't ever see one displayed in a museum for industrial art (even as a small scale model) in the same way a Jaguar E-type, "Gullwing" Mercedes or Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic (Ralph Lauren has one).

Some present day cruise ships are pretty ugly too (compared to say the Normandie), a good example is the "Oasis of the Seas", which looks like floating mall.

  • @roquefortfiles

Get over yourself. Things change and you're still stuck in some nostalgic past.

  • @AlexDeLarge90 Well pardon me all to hell for having an affinity to commercial aviation. You sound like a grumpy guss to me. I would much rather go through life with passions and interests than be jaded and sour..

Like you sound. Enjoy your life dude you only go around once.

  • @roquefortfiles LOL!!! Good description!! That made me laugh. So true. I dunno!! the 47 just has such cool lines. It looks mean and imposing at certain angles.

  • @roquefortfiles Chick with fat ankles? Thats a bit much. Guess I see where your priorities are.

  • @calalilygirl Its a joke Darling. You obviously don't get. And btw. I did not post that first some other guy did. So take it up with him. Esthetically the 747 is a beautiful plane. The A 380 is ugly to look at.

  • I think Nancy just disabled many systems by ripping out the C/B panel.

  • @JPN850R I wondered about that too!

  • well they should have thought of Murphy's Law....

What can go wrong will go wrong

  • Yes there are helicopters that can do this! A Sikorsky Stallion of that size can fly well beyond the approach speed of a 47. If you watch the movie, rather than just this part, you will know the speed of the 47 is very low! Mid-air transfers were worked out by the U.S.A.F. long before this movie came out, and helicopters were used. Plus, just watch the clip, there is real footage right there for you to see! So, try to get your facts straight ahead of time.

  • there's no chopper can't run over a 747...IMPOSSIBLE!!!

  • Ed Nelson as Major John Alexander was excellent as Dr. Mike Rossi on the Peyton Place series

  • ...great stuff. Nothing compares to a 1970's disaster flick.

Where are your soundtrack and video edits from EARTHQUAKE and TOWERING INFERNO? lol.

  • Whoopsie *LOL*
