hey Robert, I'm building the F91 MG right now and the legs do have the 180 degree bend, the problem is the outer case around part of the inner frame shifts and prevents the full bend, You just have to keep it stationary relative to the inner frame or glue it to the frame. love the reviews!
Id just like to say that I love your videos and with recommendation I went with this for my first mg gundam...I'm really excited for it to come in the mail and I love your videos
Hey there Robert, It's been a while since I first saw this. I just wanted to let you know that this review, did in fact, convince me to buy this kit. It's been a wonderful kit and really does give a great impression when you see it. Though, it is really small... especially for an MG...
Great review as always, have you ever put together the older 1/60 scale kit that I believe was one of the earliest kits to pioneer the inner frame technology
Great Review!! I was disappointed by a few other reviews claiming the model was flimsy and had loose joints and wasn't posable, etc etc, but this model seems excellent and met my expectations, all though I will do a little sprucing up with gundam markers on the vents and shoulder fins etc, to get the proper colors on them. But still a great review, this is my favorite gundam of any series or movie and I have decided to buy it! It'll be well worth the hard earned money.
for any review that says there are loose joint or anything on the MG Gundams I always had a good laugh because for all the MGs I have in my collection (30+) there are maybe 1 or 2 older kits that have issues. other than that I have always look at the reviewer saying that they have loose joints that they didn't know how to make sure all the parts are tight and follow the steps by steps.
i don't like Prime92 review.. well if i have to buy a new kit, i just watch rrbbert184's videos or dalong.net website and i'm all set.. thanks rrobbert184 more power!
i just got this kit and i am loving it! but prime92 I know what u mean some of the joins are loose namely the elbows and the wait to leg conncetions! and the beam Rifle doesnt wanna stay in his hand. but other than tht its amazing! Ilove the kit and thanks rrobbert184 for showing this to me and inspiring me to buy it! (to fix the joints i just applied a coat of clear paint to make them thicker, works like a charm)

Hey Soes Someone Know Why The Beam Weapons of The F91 Are Green Instead Of Pink? As Long As I Know, The Earth Federation Beam Weapons Are Always Pink.
I see that you didn't paint the vents on the front/rear cover of the hip. painting them would look so much better. white and yellow Gundam marker works wonders. :)
due to the small size of the F91 it actually requires more painting then other recent MGs.

I love this Gundam! I admit, I have mixed feelings about the movie, but the Gundam itself is the real winner. I only wish they had used this Gundam in more games like Encounters in Space and not wait until now to use it in Dynasty Warriors Gundam. Do you think they'll ever come out with a better kit for the Crossbone or Victory Gundams?
the movie was actually shortened from a planned series for tv. that's why in some area that it didn't seem to connect.
I'm not sure what you mean by "better" kit for the x-bone and Victory. the x-bone (F97) is developed from the F91 that's why the kit also uses some of the frame of the F91. The Victory ver. Ka MG kit just came out not long ago.
@FrankW1029 I have seen the movie, and that's why I said I have mixed feelings about it.
What I meant by better kit was, another version(like Ver. 1.5 or something like that) of the crossbone and the victory gundam model kits. Hope that clears things up for you.
@TripleCCC05 I'm not sure what exactly do you feel that the Victory ver. Ka needs to be changed? it's very well done by katoki down to the last detail of it's transformation.
as for the x-bone, can't comment on that since I haven't bought one yet.
@FrankW1029 Well, what Robert said about it, you know, the beam shield not staying up, weight issues with the Crossbone Gundam full cloth in weight issues. Things like that. Those are what I meant.
@TripleCCC05 well IMO those thing you said are very minor. it's like saying the Victory doesn't have the individual fingers like the F91 and because of it it needs a Ver. 2.0. I have a feeling on you are not fully understanding why there are ver. 2.0 kits out there from Bandai.
ver. 2.0 is meant to correct a lot of the original kit's scale issue and frame integraty issues (inner frame). i.e. the ver.1.0 Zeta would easy fall apart with it's loose joints. newer kits do not have these issues.
@TripleCCC05 another thing with Ver. 2.0 is that they are mostly done for the popular model kits that originally sold well.
I do wish there are few more that should be ver. 2.0... GP01/Fb (could use a inner frame we're now acustom to), Nu (fix the damn proportion), Sazabi (inner frame and better posability), the ZZ (proportion, inner frame), and the Ez-8 (proportion mostly)
@mechaman13 well, mainly the torso of the EZ-8 is off. if you look at it from the top down and from the side the chest armor sticks out too much compare to the battle sequence shots of the ez-8 vs gouf custom. also the ez-8 and rx79 did have a smaller torso in the anime when you see the full shot of the mecha. the rx-79 doesn't look as off because it doesn't have that extra front armor.
Just got the 30th anniversary edition of this kit. And I have to say. It's a nightmare. I've had the face break, a part in his VSBR break, and also my dog ate the piece that holds his thigh on (way to go, mutt). So, I guess I'm screwed in building this one unless I can get spare parts. :'(
@DrazenX195 Started building my F91 tonight. Face broke, shoulder armor exploded when I tried to attach the arms (fortunately nothing broke), the elbow pegs just fall out with little or no puling and when I try to rotate the left hand the connection is so strong that the square gray wrist part turns inside the armor instead of the ball joint spinning. Probably the least fun I've had building an MG. Dreading the rest of the kit-hoping to just make it through without breaking anything else.
dude ur reviews are really great I like ur simplistic approach and ur clear and consice analysis of the models. and u dont have all this extra shit going on during ur review. so i just wanna say thanks
i just bought f91 30th anniversary version and just finished the kit last night. i am so disappointed bcoz the f91 i bought has some loose joints as well. (especially at the finger). anyway, It's good to have some pc (polycaps) on gundam kits, but just dont too much. that is my opinion though.
I have Harrison's type and sadly some of the parts snapped. Mainly the right VSBR's inside parts which is sad. Most parts are also loose. What I find weird is that the color is more purple than blue. I also agree that Victory is blockish. Out of all of the three smaller Gundams I like the Crossbone mainly because I like close combat Mobile suits.
:) damn i want this now, last model i put together was the 20th ann. one year war gundam :P keep the vids coming dude i always watch your reviews first if you dont have the gundam i check out vegetas page everyone elses reviews just sucks IMO
i would like to see a pose of the f91 with the beam rifle, beam cannon, and those two thruster cannons which would look like a little bit to the freedom
rrobbert184, I was just wondering, but which one would win in a fight if it is between F91 vs Exia gundam? Because I know they both have something like the Tran-am mode.
You should've done a comparison with the Freedom, too, since Freedom's design borrowed a whole lot from the F91. And it's funny, I usually like bigger, beefier designs like ZZ or Ex-S, but F91 still manages to be one of my top 5 favorite designs.
Anyway, would you say F91 sets the standard for the 15m class as far as MG's go?
I can't believe most of the things I've commented were actually shared by you in the videos itself. Thumbs up for recommending the very good (it would be awesome with someone who could actually draw characters) Crossbone Manga. I always wanted to read Steel Seven, but they never got to translate it fully. If Tomino was younger, he could remake the whole series
Anyway, I hope my F91 also stands up to the test of time. Btw, does anyone own the normal MG Crossbone? Is it that bad?...: /
The vsbr system looks cool. I guess i have a thing for gundams with stuff on their back, hehe. And if that wasn't enough, they are sneaky beam weapons to boot!
in some cases yes the katoki kits sacrifice stablitiy for detail but not all kits. The Sinanju and the Wing ver. KA kits are both very stable and very detailed they just reuquire a lot of patience when it comes ot the decals.....
I just bought 1 ver Ka kit and that was the Wing. I guess I was right about my initial assumption that the ver Ka kits being not that poseable due to their frame design... I reviewed different ver Ka kit's construction and compared them with other MGs and add your reviews itself, just proves my assumption correct.
Final note: Forget ver Ka kits no matter how good they look, I'll just wait for the non ver Ka. Good thing I didn't decide to buy the Unicorn then... ^^
Looks great. I think the base actually adds a LOT to the kit. a lick of paint could do wonders. Thanks for the great review, rrobbert. It was a great watch
Nice review. Sounds like a good kit. But I won't get this model anytime soon. Haven't seen the movie(not planning to) + don't like the look of thi Gundam. Too small + torso looks too much like air-conditioner to me.
I find it odd that you say your kit stays together so well. My F91 Harrison Custom has very loose joints due the the fact that it's plastic on plastic. It's ok if the joints don't move. However, I knowticed you didn't move the parts in the reveiw.
Prime: I've had zero problems with my MG F91. Usually I build a kit, and then review it fresh after I've just put it together. Which is why some of the problems I find with MG Exia, Crossbone, etc, tend to bother me more over time. However, I reviewed F91 well after building it, and my opinion of it has only gone up. Either I got lucky, or Harrison's version doesn't stack up, which doesn't make a lot of sense.
@rrobbert184 I find that touching the model frequently for display causes the seemingly "tight joints" to become very loose, though it doesn't look like you move around your model joints that much.. :)
When I mean frequent I mean like 4-5 times a day. Oh did my F91 MG model suffer. x[
while I think that calling the F91 one of the best MG kits ever made is a tad overkill I completely agree that it is far and away the best of the "small" gundams. Very sold frame, also the fact that it is one of the cheaper MG kits is a nice bonus
This really shed some light on this MG. With everything you said about it. It truly is a great MG for its size. I was kinda disappointed in the V gundam when I built it.
this is how they should have made the blue frame. sure its a great looking model but god is it a pain to pose. it has ridiculously weak arm joints and so much mobility in other parts that u have to get it just right or it will topple over or pieces will fall
F91 is definitely my favourite protagonist Gundam from the whole franchise. Got this kit a few weeks ago and even i was kind've shocked at how sturdy and posable it all seems.
Absolutely spot-on about your comment with F91 from part 1...I find the design to be one of the more realistic of all the gundam designs....lots of vents for heat dissipation as expected from a high performance suit, sleek, compact and highly mobile...My absolute favorite....and the model itself is excellent to boot. As I remember, I only ever had to use glue in 2 spots (to seal the seamlines of front covers of the VSBR's). Excellent review.
You know Robert, I really have to say that I like it when you do these reviews in multable parts such as with the F91. It really gives you a lot of room to explain the finer nuances of these models. You have definitely convinced me to go out and get this model.
Once again, great job with the review, I thoroughly enjoyed going through all 3 parts and hope to see another review real soon!
hey Robert, I'm building the F91 MG right now and the legs do have the 180 degree bend, the problem is the outer case around part of the inner frame shifts and prevents the full bend, You just have to keep it stationary relative to the inner frame or glue it to the frame. love the reviews!

I am thinking of getting either the F91 or the Strike Freedom. After hearing both reviews the F91 is coming out ahead.
I would like to add the G3-Savior but that is not going to be released.

Thanks for the reviews ^^

Great review of a great looking kit, I too love the F91 design. and I plan to get the Harrison version because I prefer the Titans-esque colors.

i wish my F91 Harrison came with the base

Looks great. I think the base actually adds a LOT to the kit. a lick of paint could do wonders. Thanks for the great review, rrobbert. It was a great watch

man after unicorn gundam, i swore off any transforming gundams. But this one looks nice, too bad it doesnt have a perfect grade ^^;.
just wanna say that these reviews always brighten my day ^^, decent reviews w/o an annoying voice are hard to come by XD.

Nice review. Sounds like a good kit. But I won't get this model anytime soon. Haven't seen the movie(not planning to) + don't like the look of thi Gundam. Too small + torso looks too much like air-conditioner to me.

rrobbert184 what were you saying about a top coat in the last part? you didnt finish what you were saying :/

I find it odd that you say your kit stays together so well. My F91 Harrison Custom has very loose joints due the the fact that it's plastic on plastic. It's ok if the joints don't move. However, I knowticed you didn't move the parts in the reveiw.

I noticed the same thing as I have the same issue of looseness of some parts and armour components of my F91 Harrison Martin custom kit.

You have the Bandai or yet another knock-off ? :)

Oh did my F91 MG model suffer. x[

I will probably now look for an F-91 Master Grade just to make a reply to this.

while I think that calling the F91 one of the best MG kits ever made is a tad overkill I completely agree that it is far and away the best of the "small" gundams. Very sold frame, also the fact that it is one of the cheaper MG kits is a nice bonus

I'm blown away...
I really think I have to take a look at the movie sometime, because this kit is incredible!
Great review, rrobbert!
