@phillywrap1 I love my Surly, but I should have gotten the fork uncut. Feels unstable at times. If i could do it over again I'd buy parts and build it from ground up. Also get a size bigger to support 700c wheels. 26" are slow.
I have found that you need to use two Spanners at the same time to loosen the Bolts on the Straddle on the Cantilever Brakes. One around the inside Nut and the other Spanner around the outside nut. So you will need a couple of extra Spanners apart from your Multi Tool also for BB Bracket and Wheel Cone.Dont forget at least two spare Inner Tubes and also a Puncture Kit and a little Pliers or Tweezer to take pins out of Tyres plus Toilet Paper, grass is hard on the Bum.Good Luck.
@sunnyjoe66 I'll keep that in mind. By commuting 15mi round trip to/from work, I've noticed more and more stuff that's necessary and not. Thanks for the tips.
@julesmattsson not yet. Im gonna do a short 120 mi ride in a month from columbia to st. Louis. Gonna be awesome. Still need to some brake and gear cabling and some kool stop break pads and a comp. Then im off
@julesmattsson I haven't yet. I've been really busy trying to get myself finacially set. I'm moving back to St. Louis soon. But working all the time and trying to make time to ride on the MKT has become more of a challenge that I'd expected. I'm planning a tour over the summer hopefully from St. Charles to Columbia for a week. I'm hoping that will be sooner than later. Thanks for the interest!
Lots of gear. How did you find it on the road?
I just finished my 2nd ride about a month ago... tried to go light.
worked alright. (have a look at my vid if you have 5 mins to spare)
great looking bike. Have a friend who swears by his surly.
Nice vid. Keep it up!
