I just listened now and I am STUNNED! What gamakas (I don't know the exact term for those modulations) -- at that speed and that too on one string -- these particular phrases without the panchama (pa swara) are very difficult on the violin!
What playing and what bhava! The world should see more of this.
The sparrows churping in the background add an inexplicable beauty to the rendition. The birds seem to be singing along. Magical morning musings to the tunes of Miyan ki Todi.
@asitananda : you can buy her cd's at a lot of webstores, f.i. amazon.com etc , and as a nice alternative there are also streaming services like raaga.com where you can streamlisten albums of her and many others.
OMG,OMG, Look at her confidence on the instrument!!!! Great.
A festival for eyes to look at her bowing, where every inch of blow is made use.
How can the fingers move with such a speed yet with such a precision and producing yet not compromising and providing 100% justice to the rag. BTW this Raga's Carnatic equivalent is "ShubhaPanthuVarali".
she has recently released an album of Marathi Natyageet tunes on her violin. Please check if you like her. It's a masterpiece...She has not made the violin just speak..but speak Marathi! :-)
jokes apart...her violin literally reminded me of the same songs sung by none other than Pt. Kumar Gandharva...
this is just too much. She's incredible, and the tabla player accompanied so well! And the setting. She's at once precise and creative and expressive. She clearly brought hindustani violin to a whole new level since the VG Jog Days
I remember her well attended performances many times in India. She is a great artist.I was surprised by her fluency in speaking Hindi. Thanks for uploading the video.
Here the violin speaks( i mean litteraly like in singing) much much better than in western music . She has enriched hindustani with violin from her tradition in carnatic.
Wonderful Dr Rajan You are my favorite violin solo player. God Given hands .Augustin

Why Indian people have red dot painted on their foreheads?
Max0Inq 2 years ago
Women have the red sindur to show they are married, but nowadays even young women and girls wear it as decoration..

did no1 else notice the tabla dude mess up lol? very nice tho -1-
PK7917 4 years ago
...He didn't mess up?
Relaaya1 4 years ago
He didn't mess up. He changed the rhythmic grid from chatusram to thisram. That means changing from 4 subdivisions per beat to 3. Very creative.
In general, with artists at this level, assume they didn't screw up and that you just didn't understand what happened ;)
arn123321 4 years ago
yeah.. he messed up your head for shure.. not the rhythm thou
