  • Wow! this was made when I was a baby! :)

  • Fucking astounding, dude. Wonderful Wonderful work.

  • Well done! Hope to see more.

  • looks like a bunch of toys but i think it is like very old

  • This looks really cool!! Good job!!

  • This is just great stuff! You make all your own puppets?

  • excellent animation!

  • Pretty nice! Your Kong sort of resembles Mighty Joe Young a little bit too. Which makes it look unique. :)

  • Sick of kong wins...I wish Rex win this battle...

  • Fine work. I'm glad this was recommended to me. You really managed to give "Kong" a sense of size and massiveness. CuffColl.

  • Hey this is really good. I used to do a lot of stop motion on Super-8---I know how much time you must have put into this. Good job!!

  • THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!! how long did it take you to film and animate this?

  • It's called a V-Rex. Venatorsaurus Rex :)

  • @thezombie1expert99 Actually I did misspell it, it's Tyrannosaurus Rex. If you look at the date in my synopsis, you will see that my film was made many years before Jackson's.

    Thanks for watching.

  • @tims44 right okey.

  • @thezombie1expert99 Vastatosaurus Rex.

  • Wow, this is superb stop-frame animation. You really did a fine job.

  • @fliegeroh Thanks.

  • @tims44 your t rex looks awsome i like the look of kong to it woud be cool if you made a 30 minute short i hate how cg is used so much today thats why i get all the old movies on dvd there awsome. stop motion was great i like this video it's cool because this was so awsome do you think you'll ever make another one your like a second ray harryhausen.

  • Wow, excellent work. You have a real talent for this.

  • @Xenphobe777 Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching.

  • KO.

  • Tyrannosaurus rex would have ripped king kong apart in seconds flat. Pound for pound reptile muscle is vastly stronger than mammal muscle. A bite from a T rex would have literaly taken off kong's arm.

  • Willis O'Bryan would come back to life, pat you on the back, and buy you a drink! you did such a great job!

  • @morqwal maybe he still will when I see him in the afterlife.

    Thanks for watching.

  • looks like a friigen shitload of work!

    GJ on this one

  • nice smooth animation, great set and characters! woulda like to have seen more fighting tho'! peace.

  • @Madkre8tor

Yeah, me too. Those models were all made for separate things, so they were not in the same scale. Kong was two inches bigger than the T-Rex, which is why Kong sits during the battle, if he had stood up the T-Rex would probably just walked away.

Glad you liked it anyway, and thanks for the kind words.

    Tim

  • I actually really enjoyed that; terrific job!

  • @TheCAWstudios

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching.

    Tim

  • cool.

  • @alexjes1

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • Jeez... T-Rex was a pussy, he got killed with one punch. What a lame.

  • @boofdfast

Yeah, what was up with that. There are reasons for all that you saw, but it would take too long to go into here. I will try to be not so lame next time,

    Thanks for watching,

    Tim

  • EPIC!!!

  • Great job....very nice work!

  • @jtaffis

    Thanks,

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    Tim

  • Wow, that is great, man! I love stop-motion (especially when done well) =) The animation is very smooth. Great job.

  • @Storage1129

Thank you very much. This test was a lot of fun to do.

    Tim

  • Tyrannosaurus - spelling fail

  • @mooveetraylaguy

Absolutley correct, but my dinosaur books were packed away for moving, and the internet had both spellings listed by several sources, I just picked the wrong one.

Thanks for watching, and paying attention.

    Tim

  • aww man, fight should've been longer, but it's tight still :)

  • wow that was quite good! i liked it, altho king kong's strength cant even be matched to the original! i mean in the 1st he has this big dramatic battle with Trex but here he just pretty much slaps him and boom! he's dead. king kong wins! haha but no this is really awesome good job

  • you should totally upload this one in Black & white...

then, it will have a 1930's feel to it....

    great job....

    :D

  • That was freakin' sick, man! Really channeling Harryhausen, here.

  • Lol, ticked under its chin and it fell asleep... Now Jurassic park eat that!!!

    No really good job guys.

  • thats the best animation ive ever seen : )

  • love it

  • I love stop motion animation, Especialy your King Kong, It was beautifuly done, You really brought Kong back to life, Excellent job!

  • were do you get these wonderful toys

  • Brilliant stuff!! You did a great job!

  • that was AMAZING!!! were did u get the models

  • put the music back in, it has no copyright anymore anyway

  • Licking his chops! Grand little touch! Keep it up and dub a soundtrack - go ahead and cop sound from BOTH classics!

  • Great jub. Was this filed in super8 or 16mm ?

  • Thanks johannes914,

It was filmed in Super 8. The film I used was only made for a few years, it was very grainy. The Ectachrome film that Kodak makes now is far superior.

    Tim

  • Beautiful stuff, Tim.

  • Thanks Ted,

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    Tim

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Never mind, the girl got parked behind the gorilla. It's okay. :-)

  • Good job. Kong looks very Mighty Joe Young-like. You remembered authentic Kong gestures that you observed, like him standing there swinging his arms, and his habit of curiously poking things with his finger. Where did the girl go? He didn't park her up in a tree or anything, so it seems like the T-Rex fell on her. Makes me worried. :-)

  • i think kong is eating some kind of drug-apples!!!but the animations are perfect-want to see those animations in jurassic park 4

  • look for kong vs nessie--and--meteor monster--both on youtube--made by me in scotland.

  • I like his face when hes eating. looks good. Nice touch when the little dino scratches its face. (like Harryhausen). keep at it.

  • That was the wimpiest T rex Ive ever seen.

    Good job!

  • Thanks to God! there are People like you who doing this kind of stuff. This was REALY AWESOME and yes raincoatriver is RIGHT this has far more CHARME as the CGI Kong. Please keep working. :-)

  • i am very impressed with your style of stop-motion amimation,

  • The way you have animated him really captures the essence of the original Kong. The way he lumbers about the jungle is just like the movie. Great stuff!

  • @motmot999

Thanks for the comments, a year ago. Kong is my favorite film, and I was trying to capture at least a little of that magic, the results are what they are, I'm sure that I could do better today, but I did this film without framegrabbers, so that in itself makes it a little more Kong like.

I am glad that you enjoyed my efforts.

    Tim

  • Great job! It really is hard work doing stop motion, this is alot of blood sweat, skill and tears. I do get pissed off though at people who consider themselves purists and come down on Jackson's kong, A lot and I mean a lot of work went into Weta's CGI Some of th most talented people in the world worked 70 + hour weeks to produce the best and most real creature work ever to date. NO, the computer doesn't do it all for you, there is not a 'make cool cgi button'.

  • Comment removed

  • @pixarian72 Most of the CGI is pretty darn good by Weta. But the film itself sucks gorilla cock.

  • @pixarian72 dude you are one of those people who just know what to say at the right time this comment you posted is 100% true!

  • @pixarian72

Hey Thanks for the comments on my work last year. As far as Jackson's Kong goes, that is a matter of taste, is it not. Effects in general are hard to produce, whether they be traditional, or digital.

    Thanks again

    Tim

  • @tims44 No worries. Yeah, both areas are hard work, but really fulfilling when it's done. Stop motion is so much harder in some ways, the ease in and out frames need to be worked out and you can't delete and scrub back and forth like CG. Motion blur can only be done 2d in post, if it's wanted.

Do you draw out all your frames first or go by sight? I work in CG animation so I'm curious and a bit in awe of stop motion guys.

  • @pixarian72

Sorry I just saw this. No we draw out scenes in storyboards, but the actual animation is first frame to last. No we have computer framegrabbers so we can see the frames that we just shot, so that helps a lot.

  • Man, if only I knew who was giving the thumbs down, I would pound them!

  • Whoever it is putting thumbs down for people who like this video, get over the CGI, kiddies, and appreciate stop-motion and the people that like it.

    raincoatriver, hello, mate! Chocologic, here!

  • Very nice!

  • like awesomeness94, the eyes stood out to me too, they're amazing. The whole thing looks great!

  • Great job tim...Kong is true to the original and much more interesting than Jackson's CG nonsense.

  • good work^^

  • Very nicely done. I've done stop motion myself, so I know the amount of work this entailed. Great sets, too! Willis would be proud. =)

  • man, how do you get the eyes to move and blink like that at 1:07?

great stop motion btw very smooth!!!!

  • Actually very well made! Good job!

  • very impressive. kong just worked that rex like a stepchild

  • Not bad.

  • STA' QUESTa fint...

  • LMAO . go to 1:23 . and pause u can see a stick holding the t-rex up:P

  • that was a bad fight...

  • This was made in 1998 so he could'nt make that good of a fight. Stop motion is hard and you have to learn a great deal of patience when you are learning it.

  • Is it me or was there no sound?

  • Is It me or did you not read the description?

  • this was cool, i love the trex eating the bird in midflight! really well done

  • Nice work Tim! Very smooth animation.

  • Wow the Starwars chess set pieces!

  • Obi would be proud. 5/5. Peace:-)

  • cute

  • lool xD

that t-rex died so... :D just laughing :D

  • I am speechless right now .I never thought i was going to find a really and so amazing fight. The movements were too good .Just look how the dinosur dies so badly :s

  • is it the version of 1976?

  • brilliant animation!

  • Excellent work

  • Incredible animation! Willis O'Brien and ray Harryhausen would be proud of you! Loved the T'rex!!!

  • Most triumphant dude!

  • Molto bello , ma chi l'ha fatto?

  • Very good job, Man ;) Awesome Movie. 10/10

  • Brilliant animation and set designs

    10/10

    Bernie

  • Very cool! Good job!

  • Thanks VicAzcro,

    Tim

  • Great !!!!!!! But where did you find the kong puppets please ?

  • Lol how times have changed.

  • Dude its not a $3000 movie its a home made one.

  • Aaah I was just really high and wanted to find something hilarious to watch, seems like I didnt get it. Good vid in that case ;)

  • Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it,

    Tim

  • I guess I am stuck in a time warp.

    Thanks for watching.

    Tim

  • nice one Tim thats really great. a fine homage to a classic monster movie.

    cheers

    ATVmidlands UK

  • Thanks ATVmidlands5581,

it was a lot of fun to make.

    Tim

  • itd be kool if GIga would come in and kick both of their asses. Kings do those sort of things....

  • Thanks PARIVISION for the kind words.

  • wilis o brien would be proud

  • Thanks darkonilink911.

    Tim

  • wow this is really cool, Kong's facial expression look really good, i wish u'd make de fight scene longer, great vid anyway

  • Hey Raksmey89,

Thanks for the comments, yes I wish it was longer too, and maybe a story thrown in for good measure.

    Thanks again,

    Tim

  • WoW! That's awsome! Ray Harryhausen would be jealous. How do you make the puppets?

  • Hey thanks mercurymadhatter,

But I doubt Mr. Harryhausen is jealous of anyone.

The T-Rex puppet is foam cast, and the rest of the puppets are built up foam over the armatures. Most of the faces are sculpted in clay and a mold is made and a rubber mask is made from that, and applied to the model.

    Thanks for watching,

    Tim

  • impressive, how long did it take?

  • Hi alexcub25,

It takes as long as it takes, depending on what is in the scene. In this case all of the models were already made with the exception of Kong. So that was a little easier. So this one still probably took three months of part time work.

    Thanks for watching.

    Tim

  • Your Welcome!

  • hey Tim, i accidently deleted your email address. would you send me another one? along with a link to the video of the wild west. good to hear from you!! Elizabeth in TEXAS

  • How did you make the puppets? did you buy them

  • This is awesome! I love stop motion animation! Is there more to this movie? I'd love to get a copy.

  • Thanks CTThorson for the comments.

Sorry that is all there is of the movie. It was just an animation test really.

At some point later this year I am going to put out a dvd, as soon as I finish up a new longer film.

    Tim

  • amazing.

  • There's no noise

  • man thats easily 5 stars - I'm sure Ray Harryhausen would be pleased with your effort.

  • Thanks.

I'm glad you liked it. it was a real fun project.

  • wow great job

  • Thanks.

  • The models are great the animation is smooth and some other stuff that I cant put into words 10,0000/10

  • Thanks.

It was a fun experience making this.

  • awesome 5 stars

  • Thanks

  • Nice job, man. I was really impressed. Stop motion is very difficult and I'd love to see you with a 200 million dollar budget, you'd make a really cool KING KONG.

  • Thanks.

The film was just a test, but great fun to do. I think that 10 million should suffice to make a good film.

  • the animation is so smooth

  • Thanks Stinger198,

  • This was really nice. How did you get those nice models?

  • Thanks.

    I made the models.

  • Really? They look extraordinary! I am myself planning to do a stop motion animated 1950's science fiction style film. These clips looks very fitting. Keep up the good work!

  • 50s style sci fi film in stop motion! Sounds awesome! I myself am into stop motion and claymation and plan to make a giant killer robot movie combining stop motion and real people much like the original king kong.

  • Is'nt he supposed to snap the dinosaur's jaw?

  • wow... the badest i hawe ever seen want a brain? you can hawe 1 for free...good lord

  • wow... the badest i hawe ever seen want a brain? you can hawe 1 for free...good lord

  • yeah can I have those two minutes of my life back?

  • ok??

  • I LOVE stop motion animation...this was very cool. I hope stop motion NEVER goes away, it's in a league all it's own, glad to see some people still do it. Hope to see more of your craft soon!

  • Hey KingKongFan,I agree with you. Stop motion has a unique look, not as realistic as CGI, but often more rewarding and fun to watch.

    Tim

  • wow...how long did this take you.

  • Hey pauliesaf,

It took about 5 weeks, but a lot of the models and set pieces were already made. So say 3 months from scratch.

    Thanks for watching.

    Tim

  • kong slaps rex in face, rex dies

  • It's great to see there's still respect for the art of stop-motion. Hats off to you, man.

  • Thanks dergeier117

    Tim

  • I must say. if yoo made that... YUR A GENIOUS (spelling?)

  • Wow! Excellent models, sets, and animation! And on film, no less. Nice job!

  • Thanks mackhine,

    I'm glad you like it.

    Tin

  • um he dident make it

  • thats pretty good

  • wow - excellent - good work!!

  • thanks, and thanks to everyone who commented.

And to BigJackFilms, I would love to see Peter Jackson's film, I'm sure he still has it, but just doesn't want it to get out.

Thanks again for all your comments.

    Tim

  • Congrats dude it was awsome!! lol

  • If you did all this yourself in stop-mo, you did a fantastic job. Congratulations.

  • Thanks.

  • Good job dude, i liked it.

  • I have to agree with whomever "spacebassfilms" is. I wish you wouldn't cut out the butt sex.

  • youre an f-ing retard!
