@thezombie1expert99 Actually I did misspell it, it's Tyrannosaurus Rex. If you look at the date in my synopsis, you will see that my film was made many years before Jackson's.
@tims44 your t rex looks awsome i like the look of kong to it woud be cool if you made a 30 minute short i hate how cg is used so much today thats why i get all the old movies on dvd there awsome. stop motion was great i like this video it's cool because this was so awsome do you think you'll ever make another one your like a second ray harryhausen.
Tyrannosaurus rex would have ripped king kong apart in seconds flat. Pound for pound reptile muscle is vastly stronger than mammal muscle. A bite from a T rex would have literaly taken off kong's arm.
Yeah, me too. Those models were all made for separate things, so they were not in the same scale. Kong was two inches bigger than the T-Rex, which is why Kong sits during the battle, if he had stood up the T-Rex would probably just walked away.
Glad you liked it anyway, and thanks for the kind words.
Yeah, what was up with that. There are reasons for all that you saw, but it would take too long to go into here. I will try to be not so lame next time,
Absolutley correct, but my dinosaur books were packed away for moving, and the internet had both spellings listed by several sources, I just picked the wrong one.
wow that was quite good! i liked it, altho king kong's strength cant even be matched to the original! i mean in the 1st he has this big dramatic battle with Trex but here he just pretty much slaps him and boom! he's dead. king kong wins! haha but no this is really awesome good job
Good job. Kong looks very Mighty Joe Young-like. You remembered authentic Kong gestures that you observed, like him standing there swinging his arms, and his habit of curiously poking things with his finger. Where did the girl go? He didn't park her up in a tree or anything, so it seems like the T-Rex fell on her. Makes me worried. :-)
Thanks to God! there are People like you who doing this kind of stuff. This was REALY AWESOME and yes raincoatriver is RIGHT this has far more CHARME as the CGI Kong. Please keep working. :-)
The way you have animated him really captures the essence of the original Kong. The way he lumbers about the jungle is just like the movie. Great stuff!
Thanks for the comments, a year ago. Kong is my favorite film, and I was trying to capture at least a little of that magic, the results are what they are, I'm sure that I could do better today, but I did this film without framegrabbers, so that in itself makes it a little more Kong like.
Great job! It really is hard work doing stop motion, this is alot of blood sweat, skill and tears. I do get pissed off though at people who consider themselves purists and come down on Jackson's kong, A lot and I mean a lot of work went into Weta's CGI Some of th most talented people in the world worked 70 + hour weeks to produce the best and most real creature work ever to date. NO, the computer doesn't do it all for you, there is not a 'make cool cgi button'.
Hey Thanks for the comments on my work last year. As far as Jackson's Kong goes, that is a matter of taste, is it not. Effects in general are hard to produce, whether they be traditional, or digital.
@tims44 No worries. Yeah, both areas are hard work, but really fulfilling when it's done. Stop motion is so much harder in some ways, the ease in and out frames need to be worked out and you can't delete and scrub back and forth like CG. Motion blur can only be done 2d in post, if it's wanted.
Do you draw out all your frames first or go by sight? I work in CG animation so I'm curious and a bit in awe of stop motion guys.
Sorry I just saw this. No we draw out scenes in storyboards, but the actual animation is first frame to last. No we have computer framegrabbers so we can see the frames that we just shot, so that helps a lot.
This was made in 1998 so he could'nt make that good of a fight. Stop motion is hard and you have to learn a great deal of patience when you are learning it.
I am speechless right now .I never thought i was going to find a really and so amazing fight. The movements were too good .Just look how the dinosur dies so badly :s
But I doubt Mr. Harryhausen is jealous of anyone.
The T-Rex puppet is foam cast, and the rest of the puppets are built up foam over the armatures. Most of the faces are sculpted in clay and a mold is made and a rubber mask is made from that, and applied to the model.
It takes as long as it takes, depending on what is in the scene. In this case all of the models were already made with the exception of Kong. So that was a little easier. So this one still probably took three months of part time work.
