@CommentorIbiza Lastly, Mexico is even more unlikely than the others. It's obviously not going to be an imperial bastion of any Native American tribes (like the Aztecs or Mayans) anytime soon. The national government is more concerned with domestic narcoterrorism...
@CommentorIbiza European nation-states are never going to voluntarily give up their sovereignty. Already, many are developing anti-EU attitudes, and the EU was never even politically coherent to begin with. China is a technocracy, and no "emperor" with a "mandate of Heaven" will be in power, even as a figurehead, anytime soon. Likewise, India is a total bureaucracy and for the time being needs to focus on internal development and consolidating its various linguistic constituencies.
@CommentorIbiza Most of the current sovereign states don't even correspond to their former imperial entities geographically, let alone politically or culturally. I certainly don't expect Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey to be united under one ruler anytime soon. As for the ones that still remain intact, such as Mongolia, Iran, and Greece, I'm not holding my breath on any of them. I certainly don't expect international borders to change much at all in the foreseeable future.
@CommentorIbiza Ya, there are SO many important empires and kingdoms I left out. Thats why I titled it in "part 1" in the end. I just haven't had the time to make part 2.
The capital of the greatest land empire was Beijing.
