no if theyre interested then theyll start wrestling as kids but they dont start putting on weight until they get into a stable. u cant just put on weight, u gotta also put on muscle and build a balanced body. otherwise you'll just be fat.
@pistonpenis NO, it should never ever be in the Olympic Sports, Sumo should be exclusive only within Japan or Japanese permitted areas, having foreign rikishis is as far as sumo would go. If it goes to the Olympics then a lot of traditional ceremonial acts would be removed, and females would be involved. NO, sumo should stay strictly in a doyho that is within a proper Japanese arena.

I'd have to change my gender, if I wanted to go pro. ;) But you can do amateur sumo outside of Japan. Google 'International Sumo Federation'.
