I tried to do Hg(SCN)2 but my mercury nitrate wasn`t that well cleand out and now I have two powders one yellow and one white do you have any clue what it is?

do you use potassium thiocyanate in fluid or in crystals and do the mercury nitrate need to be clean without any traeses of nitric acid?

@MrOrienterare I make the thiocyanate crystals into liquid, and nitric acid should be cleaned out well

@MrOrienterare both solutions should be made concentrated for the precipitation to work well.

@Basco36 Thanks for everything! I managed to do it but I had 10 times as mutch water as HNO3 after the mercury had reacted for a successful result.
