  • 2 dislikes, wtf?

  • U2 s best track

  • Edge is a so much important in U2!

  • Amazing song. I can't believe I just discovered it today!

  • Whats up with the girl in this. Is she on ludes? I would of been a crying, screaming mess if he took me on stage. She's acting like she doesn't wanna even be there.

  • @IrishAlways8 I think that's Bono's wife

  • One of the most talented bands ever !!! Saw them back in '82, '83 and '84. They were amazing every time. Sounded just like this.

  • awesome!!!!!!

  • Bono and Daniel O Donnell are so gay

  • @OConaill77 define gay. are they happy?

  • @Haywood67 you don't know what gay is? come on mate --- comments like that run the risk of all the rest of us referring to you as " Gaywood67..." you don't want that do you?

  • @pagandude1 if OConail77 is saying that Bono is gay, as in homosexual, then I would ask for some verification. Given the man has been married to the same woman for a numbr of years and has had no reports of ever havng homosexual relations, then i think referring to him as gay just because you are envious or him would be a reflection of one's own tendencies. I have been married for 18 years. you calling me gay would be like me calling you simple-minded.

  • @Haywood67 you know your totally right i concur with you on that for sure --- i had the good fortune to see U2 in my home country New Zealand when they brought BB King over for their "When love comes to town" tour ---it was a fantastic evening i can tell ya...

  • why is Bono gay

  • U2 started off really well - they still knew how to rock at this stage. But then they got too ballad heavy, shmaltzy, etc. Joshua Tree, for example.

  • Isnt Terri Nunn lead singer of Berlin

  • One of the best ever U2's live performances!

  • hay un "personaje" al que no le gusta este video y este tema. ¿Qué habrá fumado???????????????

  • that guitar is so sweet and so loud .....

  • just simply awesome...!

  • Remarkable, spine-tingling and emotional all in one. Shaking at the end.

  • What a clever guy!! Bono knows a lot. ;-)

  • 3:38 - 4:45 catharsis..... one of the best u2 song

  • i wonder who the one douchebag is that doesn't like this?

  • Concert must have kicked ass. I hear red rocks is a natural amphitheatre. His guitar sounds so clear.

  • from 0.02 to 0.06 it's pretty close to the riff of the banjo version of Vertigo, isn't it ?

  • Not to take anything away from Bono, but the Edge is the star here, he makes that guitar sing better than Bono, by far!

  • Can't stop playing it over and over. The guitar, the energy, the girl, the cold, the fire, all the human elements!

  • The girl who dances with Bono looks a little like Rebecca De Mornay.

  • @jvondd

    Yes, she does!

  • I love it!!

  • man this song is incredible

  • bono totally nails her

  • THE L- EDGE-ND !! There's just nothin like Edge and his magical Explorer !! WOW !!

Have loved it since 1980 !!!!

  • Nice girl. Better than the beatles for me great spirit

  • U2 goes beyond words, U2 doesn't belong in today's fucked up world, people are dumbed down, i think they never heard much listened to anything like this kind of people.................Larry said it, it's his band, really Larry mullen senior, his dad, suggested that Larry take up some drums at school he did just that, so in a way Larry's dad started the band :) I just absolutely love the way they did the the bono swinging that girl around, and in slow motion, and she was a fairly large gal

  • I cannot tag here their great Concert in Italy. I follow them from long time. U2 - PopMart Tour - Reggio Emilia 1997 Part 1 of 1/2

  • U2's best song

  • This song is one of the best from U2! I don't understand why they don't play it anymore!

  • This is OUR REAL & UNFORGETTABLE U2 as we remembered from 80's! Greetz from Macedonia!

  • Perfect !

  • SixDayWard67...they have been heard way over 73 million times way before youtube was even invented ...and yes they know how to make rock fun

  • @bozo47p I was refering to YouTube when I commented considering that some of the crappiest songs have over 3 million views

  • Beautiful song and video. I don´t know why, but this song and specially the slow motion part of the video rembember how young we use to be :)

  • who can possibly dislike this song?

  • My favorite U2 Song..along with Red Hill Mining Town and New Years Day.

  • I move to Atlanta, Ga. as a teenager (To attend the Art Institute of Atlanta.) The only thing I had in my possesion was 150 bucks and my U2 Albums (Yes at that time they were called albums.) The band U2 will alway hold a special place in my heart, I can remember some very lean years when all I had was Ramen noodles, Live at Red Rock, October, Boy, The unforgettable fire and The Joshua Tree...

  • This song should be heard at 11 o'clock tick tock :)

  • The young woman dancing with him is not Terri Nunn. (Nunn is taller than Bono.) The girl in question was a friend who opted after the final cut to be left nameless. I think it was a wise decision given how obsessive some fans can be. No doubt they'd want a piece of her mailbox or would have stolen her cat simply because she danced with Bono.

  • The Edge's solo at 2:40 is simply fantastic, full with energy, alive and kickin, the Edge knows how to fire wonderful music burst to the ears of a hungry audience for good music!

  • @ssdivizion .......funny, I was just about to mention the exact same thing. I was thinking that even someone like Beethoven would understand it and relish it for the complexity and raw energy.

  • he sings a bit of "drowning man " after the second chorus

  • I don't understand how this song wasn't a hit... It's so beautiful, it's chilling, haunting, and sad... But it's so amazing.

  • still fancy here now... happy days yes out all there songs this is still top class.

  • Fab fab fab... love this song, saw them live in 1982 and 1983 and in the years since and still love 'em to this day.

  • Everybody is saying Bono's voice is gone!?!?!? His voice is getting better!!!

  • Loved this snce the 80's...brings back some fab memories ...U2 FOREVER!!!

  • Deluded myself watching Bono and the Edge on Letterman last night as well.! Yeah Bono give it up!!! Washed up has been with crappy shot voice!!!

  • Rebecca De Mornay

  • Bono;s voice gone? Well i guess i deluded myself in Montreal last weekend and will be deluding myself even more in Moncton on the 30th July!!!!!

  • @kavanb6930 I think you did...his voice has been long gone for ages now...

  • who is the girl?

  • untill Rattle and Hum tour they ware great , after that it's all down the hill , Bono,s voice is gone for many years .

  • Try playing this song with "concert hall " settings on your sound system for an added bonus.

  • How much do these guys love playing music? Look no further than Adam Clayton going back and making eye contact with Larry Mullen Jr at 0:59. Coolness!

  • if anyone needs to know how kick ass and awe-spiring music of the 80's was (is), look no futher than U2 live at Red Rocks.......awesome. Todays music is so bad, un origional....boy band crap....gansta rap shit....makes me puke

  • Why is it that this song never seems to get old?

  • 11 o'clock TICK TOCK !!! Loved this !!!

  • 1:51 I wouldn't have want to let go of Bono either!!

  • that band change my life ever...i cant live whithout listening u2...but i miss this times when u2 are a simply band....but we love u2 always....best band on world...u2 portugal

  • I'm a teenager but i've loved them all of my life because my dad is a huge fan. i was lucky enough to see them on their vertigo tour in 2005 and i can tell you that God is in the room at their concerts and i'm sure that everybody at red rocks felt him there that night!

  • Who is that Girl ???

  • This should of been heard by 73 million and not 73 thousand !

This is what Rock was about !

  • @SixDayWar67 Should of? should've? Should have? Of what should have happened?

  • @ToolsnFire To be or not to be or do be do be do

  • @SixDayWar67 Quality is unknown to all but a small group of people who know how to assess a quality rock-music!

  • @SixDayWar67 is about

  • @LiamDosullivan correct you are !

  • bono has great taste in women uh huh

  • very hot girl!!!

  • very good song, I love when he dance with the girl.

  • At 3:15, Bono yanks a girl out of the crowd and dances with her on stage. U2's best song ever!

  • @kozpetratos hi but was the girls name .... what a stunner xxxxxxxx

  • @someblokecalledchris That girl Bono dances with looks like a 22-year-old Terri Nunn from the group "Berlin" [No More Words; You Take My Breath Away; Metro]. In the '80's, she was dating the (late) lead singer from INXS, who was good friends with Bono. Also, Berlin and U2 had done some gigs together in those days, so Bono most likely knew her. I simply "wikipoo'd" all this trivia -- so don't quote me.

  • @kozpetratos It is her.

  • @someblokecalledchris P.S. June 26, 2011 [today, by coincidence!] she'll be 50.

  • @kozpetratos that was staged

  • Classic!!!!

  • no dislikes that say/s it all.

  • U2 = Heroes :-D

  • If I ever go to a U2 show and they ask me to request a song, this would be it.

  • the brothers rocking!

  • Great track from the best ever concert film.

  • The under a blood red sky album version is awesome - worn it out....Edge would have to screech it and U2 would have to play it with the passion Bono had in the early days to give it justice...otherwise it would be a dissapointment.....maybe somethings are better left in the past...........just a thought.....

  • @mp0615 I agree 100%! Those days just cannot be re-done...

  • My fav all time U2 song

  • no da

  • This was the only U2 concert I have ever been at, it was a privilege and I do not regret it, as cold and dampy as it was. I was 20 back then. I still enjoy the simplicity of the band back then.

  • I think the weather added to this..the wet guitar and all.. If a guitar could be played by the Edge in a flame suit until it melted, it would sound like this solo..

  • Definitely should add this to their set list. Fantastic amazing guitars. Bono and the Edge are amazing .

  • Definitely should add this to their set list. Fantastic amazing guitars. Bono and the Edge are amazing .

  • This takes me straight back to 1984...

  • wow what a great song from their fantastic live album"Under A Bloodred Sky"!!!

U2 is still the biggest rockband on earth!

  • The live version is much better than the record version, very different with more emotion in the song. Such a huge sound from a single guitarist, amazing.

  • @strangeuniverse1

U notice very well my friend, especially the Edge's solo from 2:39 is simply awesome! Also,Bono here reached the peak of its performance! Great times, mood and atmosphere! Bye from Macedonia

  • wow, damn U2!!! UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY! album that made me fall in love with U2!!!! when I was 7 or 8!!!

  • 1983 1986 U2 were great

  • Great clip; wow, Bono sure knew how to pick the ladies from the audience back then ;)

  • A Forgotten LIVE classic

  • Edge is schorching on the guitar!

  • defintely always loved this tune!

  • Edge <3

  • they say edge wrote this song at his 17th....

i wonder how this came to mind.... AWESOME SONG

  • This is awesume, I love the way Edge plays his guitar in this :))

  • Awesome song, awesome performance!

  • i hate to admit but I love them more back then..I really dont care for their songs now.

  • @jibsonable None of us really do

  • some riff

  • Love this song...and the performance!

  • I was in the Air Force stationed in the far east, I 1st heard this in 86' when I came back. WOW, I missed alot of music!!

  • I fell in love with U2 listening to this song..

  • Tremendously powerful song. Love it.

  • where is she now? and who is she?

    ;o)

  • I agree... this is such an awesome song... i saw them play back about 79-80 in McGonacles bar in Dublin with a band called the Virgin Prunes and then they released this as one of their first singles... great craic

  • @1963stratman You do know that Edge's brother started that band when they edged him out of U2. Would have LOVED to have seen what you did! Unforgettable!

  • Random chick again! Bono, stop being such a player :)

    I love the guitar solo.

  • @LandsEbb ya the guitar solo is Awesome!!!

  • Love it!!! The songs seemed more "emotional" and "passionate" back then...awesome song!!!

  • Im surprised bono can even talk today nevermind even sing. The effort he put in back then into his singing was amazin!!

  • @bigbasso11 I know right? It's probably why he sings in a different key or whatever nowadays—he totally burned out his voice in the 80s

  • @LandsEbb - I think he sings in a different key because he's 50, rather than 23 like he was here.

  • Tienes razón Manywillseeandhear, para mí también esla mejor canción que han hecho.

  • this song is grand

  • When U2 really Rocked!!!

  • Edge makin that explorer and the AC30's scream @ 3:40+ always gave me the bumps.

This guy made me want to play.

  • THE EDGE ..... 17 year's old when he wrote this..... GENIUS!

  • hahah what's with the slow mo?

  • @blue489, 80s' style video aesthetics. Less rapid cuts, more static cameras and uses of dissolve,slo-mo, etc. The MTV aesthetic didn't take hold until a few years later.

  • Saw U2 during the 2nd leg of their first USA tour on March 20, 1981 at the Old Waldorf. It was the 2nd of 2 concerts in San Francisco and the 483 person theatre was not sold out on either night. LOL - Their "tour bus" was a beat up old Greyhound bus...they were still an unknown group outside of the UK. They had so few songs that they repeated "11 O'Clock Tick Tock", "I Will Follow", "I Fall Down" in the encore. I told my GF "These guys will be a famous live band because of their stage presence".

  • @DonGomez007 Like you , I saw them at the small show at the aragon ballroom in Chicago and got the empty champange bottle at the end. 2 years later they packed the Rosemont arena. And then it went off the charts beyond my taste and interest...

  • And that's how it's done, kids.....

  • Bono looked hot in the '80s fair do's even though he had a mullet...

  • My Brother use to listen too this in the 80's when i was a kid and i know alot of people think Bono's a cunt now but this band at this point put me on the track to lisening to good music and i'll always appreciate that no matter what shite they write nowerdays.MOLE DIGGIN IN A HOLE . know what i mean.

  • kadzielnia 1983

  • sadly , bono no longer has the pipes to sing this song.

  • @stardaddyo9 Check out the Irving Plaza gig. Amazing! Different vibe, but still oh so sublime!!

  • constantly playing this on my i.pod, absolutely amazing guitar and singing, their best live song ever in my opinion U2 forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The most heart wrenching guitar solo ever...

  • do you reckon bonio shagged her ?

  • @jonnyjaywick Deftinitely

  • @jonnyjaywick shit, I bet he took her backstage and rammed her like a plastic fuck doll!!! LOL!!

  • this song is soooooo UBER and many people do not know it ... damn shame imo!!

  • what knd of dance did bono do with the girl?, it looked kind of like square dancing. it looked planed and rehearsed.

  • of course one of their best songs ever they refuse to play now. Instead they play that new garbage like Boots Elevation, Beautiful Day, Complete crap compared to this music

  • @kellykinsellives its the same with most bands though, your forgetting thy've been playing this song how long? they wanna play new stuff.. its understandable xD and i like new stuff anyway so cant complain

  • @LukeJ60 Why can't they play this song? they have not played it in over 10 years.

and yet we have to constantly hear New years day, Pride, WOWY, I will follow

  • @kellykinsellives cant remeber which live show it is, think its U2 go home, where he says our fave parts of the past we take with us to the future.. so thats wyh :P

  • @kellykinsellives sorry have disagree with you about beautiful day its a great live tune ! but do agree with you that this should be on the 360 tour its one of my fav u2 songs and ive seen them play live 14 times now and have only heard them play this a few times ! please bring it back

  • i remember when this first went out on the tube, a tv show in england, the tube filmed it, i remember seeing u2 at brighton top rank back in the early 80s on the october tour with the comsat angels as support, i went in with a stinking cold sweat so much that when i came out me cold had gone, a great night and a great band.

  • agreed, the edge's guitar work is incendiary

  • best version......

  • I am guessing about the girl Bono dances with as well.

I really don't think anyone knows who she is.

I can only take a guess.

I would say it is a young Terri Nunn, the lead singer of the 80's band Berlin.

I think U2 and Berlin may have toured together at some point during the early days of their careers.

I really wish I knew this for sure.

The girl does resemble her though.

And it does seem as though Bono knew right where this girl was, as though he was searching for this dance.

  • @72574 Terri Nunn are you serious?? please that chick was a whole lot better looking than Terri Nunn was....she was just a girl at a U2 concert and she happened to be a very good looking girl

  • @wolfennyc

Yes, she was an extremely beautiful girl he danced with during this song.

    Perhaps you are right.

She was definitely in the right place at the right time.

This will go down as one of the greatest mysteries of the 1980's =)

    Only she knows for sure.

    Thanks.

  • @72574 Thank you for prompting me to do the necessary research (from your year-old comment, below) on finding out who that girl is...you provided me with her name (Terri Nunn) -- and it appears you were right.
