Thanks for posting this. Can you do a disassembly video? I got a model 50 as a gift and Im not sure of how to strip it. It was in bad shape so I painted it (since striped it), reconditioned it and chopped the barrel. Does yours only take two in the tube? I'm wondering if there's a plug? Thanks.
i have two model 50, ser.#70006 and 82877. the research i have done said it was made from 1954 to 1961....the 50 you have is in exellent shape,,nice gun
They weren't a bad gun but the springs were awful and pooped out, as far as I know they are rare compared to how common they used to be, ppl tossed em when the springs wore out considering the price of em and lack of knowledge
you should put up a disassembly video, i was wondering how similar it is to the remi mod 58, i have a model 50 that needs cleaning and i want to make sure i do it right
139279? Wow. I wonder how fast they pumped these out. Mine is numbered 136669. My dad bought it at the PX in Okinawa, Japan in 1959. Pretty close serial numbers, eh?
hi Keith, nice gun. Finding production dates for old Winchesters is very difficult as there are no surviving records from the original WInchester (pre Olin ownership) days. My grandfather bought his, that I now have, in the mid to late 1950's. If you google "winchester model 50 disassembly", you'll find a link to a download pdf disassembly manual. These are VERY complex guns to maintain but very reliable. Don't shoot steel shot in it as it will damage the choke at the muzzle of the barrel.
@shannon1973 i know which is a bummer i only use it for grouse and skeet now unless the wallet has enough dough in it for the bismuth shot but it can get pretty pricey with the shooting we do lol a buddy of mine tryed the new black cloud shot in his old remington 870 with a poly choke and tore it all to peices after a dozen shots it started loosing its patteren now the gun is pretty much useless lol .. noticed these guns can reach 500 or so for value which isn't too bad for the era .
@keithjarsenault Yeah, it's not a super valuable gun, such as an antique lever gun, but it's held that value for a decade or more. When my Dad passed about 10 yrs ago, my uncle, and antique Winchester dealer appraised it at the same $500 mark. He also advised me not to restore it anyway, as that would severerly decrease its value, but lately, I've been considering having it reblued and the woodwork refinished because I never intend to allow it to leave the family.
i just got this exact gun 2 days ago never fired till i shot it. free from my dad. he has alot of guns. he gave me a colt 32 caliber pistol with 2 mags and a weatherby mark XXII semi automatic 22 with scope and sling and 10 rd mag. i am excited i made plenty of vids with the weatherby but i will be using the shotgun in many of my gun vids.
@MOUNTAINOUS i like it never had a jam yet so far spen 50 rounds over the winter on skeet and it kept going .. over all pretty cool for an old timer lol
@jrwel14 actually i just found an old model 12 in a barn the other day i started restoring it hoping to have it ready for fall so ill start posting the resto vids up when i can .. my dad had one and i fell in love with it but he didnt use it much so it got sold for a smith and wesson model 1000 i think
lol you guys gotta click on the closed captions option it makes the video a whole lot more exciting cause it has nothing to do with guns in some parts when its translating like at one point im talking about a ventilated rib and i noticed its translating something about a volatile climate lmfao .
i wsas told their worth 100.00 maby more

If you go on google they have a website that can tell you how old the gun really is.
You type in the serial number and it will tell you. I did that on my late fathers Model 12 shotgun.
