He's using a tool like it says in the beginning. Of course he's cheating, but it's cool too. Back in the day, cheats were hard to come across and frowned upon. Now, it's a little bit more fun to get through the game without dying for once. :P

This is the real Super Mario Bros.2. The game with the name released in the U.S. was actually a game called "Doki Doki Panic" which was unrelated to Mario Bros. - they just changed the sprites to Mario characters when they released the game in the U.S. and gave it the Mario name.
