@roberry82 One concert I played at I had the misfortune of playing with a drummer that was less than spot on not sure how or why he was playing with us. My point is when we were doing the sound check the "drummer" commented to the stage sound tech that the audio gear was going to make the music sound good. Not only was I embarrassed when he said that but more when the sound man said...all this does is just makes what you do louder, you play like crap its just going to sound like loud crap

to reach a crowd that large, you need to have a track playing over your own voice, if she sings on her own, she wont reach the people all the way in the way way back....shes always had an amazing voice, there's no doubt about that, but i just think people get confused as to why someone with her voice would ever lipsync...am i right?

You're a tad off base...There's one of the world's most advanced sound systems installed at the venue, and many others. No artists relies on their voice alone to reach the back rows; they rely on their mic & speakers. When she sings live, it's just as loud as when she using a backing track; she's using the track/lip-syncing to not have to sing at full capacity. Her shows are full of vocally challenging songs. No wonder she didn't used to talk between shows in the 90's. LOL.

Yes, she lipped this number, along with a few others during the show. She lips to previous live performances that were recorded to use during future shows, and typically does a pretty good job with making sure there's adequate tension in her throat and corresponding mouth movements with vibratos, etc., but in this number, your observations are correct.

Yeah, I have the DVD. I was there for the recording, when she lipped this song. LOL. I know lots of people don't like to talk about it, but it's out there in the open for us to notice. There's been an issue with the vocal track for the song for a while; it busted in Vegas once and someone has bootleg from that night. It busted in the same place during the recording of her most recent US TV Special in the same place [I was there for that recording, too] and she had to re-do it.

It didn't crap out during the recording of the DVD in Vegas; that happened earlier, maybe a year earlier. Then it happened again during the recording of the CBS TV Special in the US: That's Just The Woman In Me. I was there for that recording and got to watch the track crap out and them re-record the entire opening number to the show.

No, she didn't get booed, but the entire team celine section all started looking around at each other and whispering and giggling and you could hear "omg, she's lip syncing..." "she's not singing live" whispered by all the fans. She mad this awful face, put her hands in her face for a second and turned to the dancers and told them to stop dancing, shaking her arms at them.  They re-did the inro and she sang into the mic "oooh aahh" while she was backstage to make us think she was singing.

Yeah, lots of artists lip for TV specials, but I also tied it in to what happened during one of the Vegas shows. Very much a worthy conversation between myself and adamps16; maybe you should stick out of it until YOU have something "worthy". Not nice, is it?
