  • He appears to be having a good time.

  • loc139 - - Loved these songs Marty sings at this cpocert! When was it...and where was it? Thanks for these great songs of his! Regards...tom7nan

  • if Marty were still alive, he'd be the most interesting man in the world on the dos equis commercials

  • I want a jacket like that to gig in !!!

  • spanish doesnt have blue eyes, they black

  • @DisgorgeKILLusa: Try taking a trip to Northern Spain, plenty of Blue and Green eyes. My great great grandfather was from Santander, he had green eyes and reddish brown hair. The Castilian Spanish have Celtic and Visagoth ancestry which means they have a similar blood line to the Germans and Irish.

  • @espada9 right you are...plus northern spain is where the celtics established their stronghold. they fought off the romans...they populated ireland after the ice age..they were the main group to follow columbus to the new world...the spanish celtics...i wonder if elvis was had spanish celtic blood in him...sure looks like it..

  • @DisgorgeKILLusa I guess you never saw me

  • Marty' s song it ain! All his other songs are ......

  • Sure do miss that velvet voice. RIP Marty. No one can never fill your shoes.

  • One of the richest, smoothest, most manly voices in the history of American music. Marty could outcroon any pop crooner you can name!

  • no offense taken. I was just saying that most people's speaking voice is very different from singing voice. Plus alot of it is put on for the show.

  • How many current artists would even try this for a fan?

  • The Beauty and Innocense... Wow!!!

  • Not half bad for a man who didn't know the words to the song!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love Mary Robbins. Rest in peace!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Loved Marty so much, He was one of my favorite country singers. Pleased to find this video of him singing one of my all-time favorite songs.

  • i love that person.he is so special.so manny memories i have.

  • His voice is real different from his singing voice.

  • @comeonfolks most people's are

  • @ljriner I don't mean it in anyway offensivley, he is a great signer, but to me, take Dean Martin's voice vs. his singing voice, they match up to me. Or Jim Ed Brown, his singing voice matches up. But there is no trace of his 'speaking voice' when he sings.

  • funny!

  • funny!

  • I don't know if he ever did record this song! If he didn't, he should have!

  • I grew up with my mom loving Marty Robins! My mom passed away years ago; I am now almost 60, but each time I listen to one of Marty's songs I still feel so close to my mom. I love all his songs and I am now passing them down to my grand children......love it love it love it!

  • Fabulous and no guitar strap either.

  • Fabulous and no guitar strap either.

  • Don't get any than this..........thank you for posting

  • I love that he asked the other guy about the words.... :)

  • but its a pretty song ! :P hahahahahha

  • He's funny, has that same accent and bantor as Dean Martin. Love it.

  • nice, but al martino did it better

  • Does he say... "you and your Spanish ass" ....at the very end of this song?

  • @duffus27 Yes he does, twice! I did not pick this up, at first, as being a Brit I say "arse" which sounds different. Well spotted.

  • @duffus27 hahaha yes he does,,i swear i hear that--ha ha. i am laughing my A**off !!!!

  • Well you have jogged some memories there. Louis L'amour, one of the best writers of westerns. The Saggets, Hondo lane, Shane etc. You have me in a dream world there mate, I had never considered what a great evening that would have been!

  • impossible dream? a compfire with louis lamour telling a western story and marty singing a gunfire ballad around a crackling fire!! only a dream. marty was the best, i grew up in the late 50's land 60s and no better music was played.

  • Above we see Blue Eyes Queen Milla from Finland, samba dancing in Rio Brazil Carnival Parade., Beautiful blue eyes!

  • Is this for real? Could Marty REALL sing a song he did not know this superbly? - Well, guess Marty could do ANYTHING....

  • wish he had recorded the song

  • good job

  • i wonder if this guy was alive will support the minute man club?

  • until this day i have never heard marty's speaking voice. so different from his singing voice.

  • @mattybock his speaking voice is a put-on too. Look up some Opry footage or bio footage to hear it, even in those he does put-on a bit it for the show

  • Big Iron and El Paso were his staples....I should know I grew up in El Paso in the fiftys & sixtys.....listen to these & you will know his true voice

  • Candy for the ears---one of the best

  • He tried...I'll give him credit for that but Al Martino owned this song :>)

  • @PolishRoots I have to disagree Marty has a much smoother delivery at the beginning then Al does I like Al as a singer ,Don't get me wrong .I just think Marty sings blue spanish eyes better even better then Engelebert which i seen sing it in concert in mid Seventies. Martino, Humperdinck, Sinatra, Presley, Robbins, Arnold .Those guys are a treasure.

  • Marty, was and still is, one of my favourites........his voice is one of the best, I have ever heard. Thanks for posting, I appreciate it greatly

  • Absolutely parful. A fantastic singer and entertainer. That song is perfectly his style. Pity he didn't record it comercially. It would have fitted well on his "Tonght Carmen" album. Pity he didn't sing all the verses. Is there any footage or demo anywhere of Marty singing the whole song?

  • My son is named after him..Marty

My mom used to sing this, she was great.

  • Great voice,I like hi's version, its's not the best but ,is very good

  • Great voice,I like his version, its's not the best but ,is very good

  • AWESOME SINGER

  • I remember being a kid and hearing of his passing.... one of a kind and an amazing balladeer. His voice his songwriting his story telling... missed!

  • How can you not like Marty Robbins?

  • pop loved Marty Robbins...

the only artist other than christian that i knew him to listen to listen to....

  • Comment removed

  • @Adrianrosariopr Marty Robbins has been dead since the eighties...people like you come on here and make uneducated comments like this when you probably know nothing about Marty Robbins. Your just going by his outfit...something he wore toward the end of his career, WAY after he was a superstar. He may never be as popular as elvis, but no one had dedication to fans quite like Marty Robbins. jAnd by the way, he sang way better than Elvis could ever have dreamed about singing.

  • @theclintwaters Amen my friend.

  • axed . lmao

  • CLASSIC!!

  • Marty has one of the best crooner voices you'll ever hear...amazing tone!

  • marty ..thank you for the wonderfull memories ..i wish we all still had you around ...no one has ever replaced you nor ever could

  • still alive

  • Absolutely loved this man!!

  • yes I love this song and Marty does it well all though he doesnt know all the he sound great

  • @iarnault1 He knows the words, this was just an act. He was known to be quite the comedian when he was on stage. He was always the last act at the Grand ole opry because they could never get him to leave the stage, the audience kept calling him back for more!!

  • Continued thanks Loc! Still loving Marty! - Dusty

  • They don't make them like they used too! What a voice.

  • The absolute best, he was a hoot to watch in his later years and his son inherited his marvelous voice. He'll always rank as one of my top singers of all time. thanks for putting this on.

  • Look at the band. They are having a gas. You can always tell how cool a guy is to work with on stage when you see the band smiling. Marty was a great guy. I got to meet him once. He was just as nice and funny as you would think.

  • my favorite country singer hands down. marty u was the man.

  • That was brilliant!

  • Got to love his sense of humor..He is one of a kind ..in my book.

  • awesome artist! I wasn't born in his days, but this is one of my favorite songs.

  • Beautiful Voice.

  • What a great treasure!! Saw him when I was way too young to realize who I was seeing in a free concert on a department store parking lot.......truly gifted, truly missed!!

  • I LOVE this song!

  • nice! great voice man. could teach these kids today to bring their voices down an octave.

  • Great song and singer!

  • great for a guy who didnt know the song

  • This is a bit random but I'm trying to organize my playlist... What genre do you think this song fits in? Any ideas?

  • The only thing he was high on, was high on life.He had health problems and should have taken a break, but this is our Marty. We should all be so blessed.

We love you, Marty. Til we meet again.

    Rest in peace.

  • i can't believe his real talking vioce! totally unexpected

  • Great version!

  • as far as I`m concerned marty can make up my world! and axes is a word NOW, haha love this guy!!!

  • Why not is the best--Damir

  • That song brings tears to my eyes. I saw Marty many times at the Grand Ole Opry & we became friends. It was a sad day in my life when he passed on Dec 8 1982. He was a multi-talented entertainer. Comedian, songwriter, singer. If not the best, certainly in the top 5. I believe he knew his time here was short when he wrote & recorded "Some Memories Just Won't Die"

  • oh how lucky and lovely for you. He would of been a fabulous person to know. I grew up loving his music thanks to my dad playing his records. He is certainly missed :)

  • Your voice!! speaks more than the words.

  • Marty Robbins...one of the greatest. He pulled this one off very well. What a voice!

  • Give 'em hell Marty, you are one of us good ole boys, with a great voice.

  • beaucoup de talent et une belle voix

  • Is that his son playing in the back and whispering the lyrics to Marty? By the way, this is a great post!!

  • LOOKS LIKE RONNIE TO ME ,

  • I love that he corrected himself for saying "axed" instead of asked...people today think axed is a word:(

  • LoL I guess axed is a word isn't it?

  • love this shirt

  • his voice, his humor and his wonderful outfits........ and all in one video

  • wow.

    amazin talent ....

    magnifica voz!

  • well said friend! I am...but do you think he is?

  • rory, I hope so. Marty was one of the best!

  • ya its done..lets focus on the music...well done!! whats your all time fav by marty?

  • I many from him. El Paso and El Paso City stand out. I guess he can't just enjoy the freaking music...

  • mine our my woman my wife, master calls and masters touch. one he didn't write, but which i really think is one of his best that really shows his true style of singing is when your love was mine fron the turn the lights down low album. and i'd like to apologise to my dear marty fans for engaging in what i would call a disgusting exchange of filth. but, i get my back up when someone call smarty robbins a prick!!! nice chatting with my fellow marty friends. cheers

  • Hi rory, Anyone that would use such a term for a man like Marty, is show that is what they are. Not the man Marty Robbins! He was truly special. Have a good day!

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Marty Robbins in concert 3 times. He was always the same. He seemed to enjoy performing more than any other artist I have ever seen. He had as much fun as the audience.

  • full of himself, but what a voice

  • If i had just a few wishes in real life. I would honestly use one to meet Marty. Countless hours spent asa kid listening to him and losing track of time. Angel on earth imo.

  • "Marty Robbins was what "show business" was all about. Where are the performers of his ilk in the current generation? "

    Where is the music?

  • Marty Robbins was what "show business" was all about. Where are the performers of his ilk in the current generation?

  • he was good at aint i right,a good old white pride song.

  • His singing was so fantastic!

  • Great voice, great performer

  • One of the all time greats. I wonder if You Tube has great performances by Marty Robbins of 2 other songs generally not associated with him - "Return To Me" and "Beyond The Reef"?

  • Thanks For Marty Robbins. I remember in 1953 when he was part of the Rodio entertainment for the Sky-Hi-Rodio in Monta Vista, CO. and KGIW radio station in Alamosa played his music constantly for a couple of weeks before the rodio so everyone would know who this guy was.

  • Nice guy and knows how to sing and has a nice lyrical voice. What's all there is nice. Pity that was dead.

  • band is very good too!

  • What a voice!! Awesome !

  • What a smile, the singing is awesome as well.love it.thank you for posting this masterpiece.

  • There will only be ONE Elvis and there will only be ONE Marty Robbins!!!!

  • good point...when he speaks loud you can hear an almost nasal quality to it, which is weird since in his singing voice there is nary a touch of country twang.

  • I think "Booboobay" was referring to the prat who accompanied Marty, and I couldn`t agree more.

  • Wow! it's great to hear Marty sing Spanish Eyes, if anyone can take you across south of the border is Marty with his voice.

  • Al Martino's cousin, fyi

  • WOW. What show is this? Can I buy it on DVD?

  • one of the very best voices ever. no matter how much praise marty had/has or will ever get...he will always be under-rated.

  • I actually think Marty Robbins was a better showman, all around entertainer and better singer than even Elvis.

  • I absolutely agree!

  • There will be only one Marty Robbins and won't we love him forever. We will remember him as he wanted to be remembered in his biography - A good person who could sing.

  • That guy talks too much! Its annoying!

  • But his voice is so smooth. Its soothing.

  • he was a true showman with an excellent voice range

  • Forgot just how good he really was.

  • Amazing Voice!

  • Marty could sing the Phone Book and make it cool and sexy.

Velvet & Silk...all dressed up like a Cowboy.

Marty wasen't fooling anyone...he was a Lover and not a Goat Roper.

  • Marty was the man! Awesome voice!

  • My moms favorite singer.

  • He was one of a kind, with his velvet voice and warm personality. He does this song as good or better than anyone else, but that is Marty, RIP friend

  • my favorite of all time. Reading stuff on him and meeting a various peeps who "knew" him I guess he was one of the nicest peeps on earth. He was known for sitting hours after concerts signing autographs. He'd apparently sit there as long as someone wanted his autograph. Class Act. R.I.P. marty.

  • One of my favorites.....Great Marty Robbins...!!!

  • What a voice! :P

  • Marty you are great. Thank You

  • Marty Robbins, you are terrific.

  • Just love it! Thank you, miss Marty more every day.

  • OttoJg14 got it right. The song Marty refers to as "Blue Spanish Eyes" was written by the great German composer BERT KAEMPFERT and started out originally called "Moon Over Naples" along around 1965. "Strangers In The Night"."Wonderland By Night"."Afrikaan Beat" and "THAT HAPPY FEELING" sung by NYC DJ "Good Guy" Herb Oscar Anderson every AM on `77 WABC AM radio were just a few other huge hits inked by the modern day Mozart BERT KAEMPFERT...

  • I guess I come from what people might call a "high-falutin'" musical background;uncle who was a conductor, associates who attended Berkley,Julliard;I took music theory, harmony, etc in college. But when someone asks me to define "greatness"..,I like to show them this clip.., I'm impressed by this performance..,just an acoustic guitar, voice, he didn't even know the song that well, LOL..,but Marty had talent & soul by the truckload!God bless him!

  • Anyone know what album this song is on? I have them all..but can't find this anywhere? Thanks!

  • If what he says is a fact. He never did record this song. BUT... just to see what a brilliant and versitle singer our Marty was , have you heard him sing "Drowsy Waters"

It's one of his "Island" songs.

  • You know this is funny..I came first to listen to "El Paso", then "Spanish Eyes" came next in my thoughts. As if for reasons unknown, people seem to so commonly associate this song with Marty Robbins.

When I heard him say he never recorded it, I was so surprised.

Apparently it was originally recorded by Al Martino. Huh.

I really like Marty Robbins rendition better.

  • Ja! With all his incredible talent with Latin/Mexican type songs..I can't believe he didn't record it..and worse..it sounds like he never even the whole song i.e., "I don't know the words to it"? The original song was written a German, Bert Kaempfert!

  • As he sayis in the video he never recorded it. Too bad cause he does do a great job!

  • TYPING ERROR I meant MARTY!

Sad that so many exceptional voices have been silenced by disease and accidents. Marty, Roy Orbison, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Richy Valenz, Big Bopper, to name just a few. It would have really great to keep those people around a bit longer to see and hear what more they could have come up with. Oh Well, maybe when we walk through the pearly gates we'll hear them in the choir????

Maybe we'll sing as good as them then??

    Wait and see!!!!

  • I got to see Mary LIVE at the Boone county fairground in ILL years ago. He had that same guitar, must be his favorite. It appears to be a 3/4 size and I thought it neat the way he held it. He had a voice like no other. Love his music, his style. When I learned he had died, it really hit me hard, I could always turn on his music when feeling down and it would cheer me up. I was so down, I took the next day off work and just puttsed around the house and yard listening to his cassettes.

  • Amen!

  • Marty , Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley had voices that are so GOD sent.

  • Yes,wouldn't it have been nice if Marty & Elvis could have sit and just traded off songs and talked on a 3 hr. film.

Looks like the record co's. could think of stuff like that but I don't believe some of them are fans of the artist, they just wan't the money.

  • this is my great great uncleim not lying either
