the reason he was not a major star is because most have to compromise to become major stars. his music does not lend itself to compromise. thats a good thing for fans of willie deville. major star = mainstream =overproduced

I'll never understand why Mink DeVille never broke through to a mainstream audience. This guy had it all: good looks, great voice, wonderful songs going into many genres of rock. I know he had some problems. But what performer hasn't? He should've been a major star.

Poughkeepsiejohn1, Mink was one of my favorite artists ever. He had that coolness and romance that late 50's singers had. Now I am 50 but I have been into music since I was a young kid like so many of us. I went on to work with many major labels in LA. I wondered why he was not big. To be huge, labels need artists to play the game with them. Mink did not. But that's what created his uniqueness for many years. He was an artist. I meet him, talked with him and liked him even more. Mink!

had the video, the best thing i ever saw. lost it - f***! if i had one wish i'd like to beam myself back to that evening. must have been magic. what are all the guys doing nowadays, do you know? what are you doing, still playing bass? have all the albums of willy/mink, i am a fan since 1984, when i was 12. i think i spent years with listening to that music. whenever willy comes to austria, i am there. ps: my daughter, 11, plays bass. chili peppers and stuff. well, nobody's perfect . . .
