  • Wonderful song!! Brings back the memories! I loved this song 1st time I heard it. I 'borrowed' lol my friends Why Store CD a few yrs. back & I'm still listening & enjoying the songs today as much as I did about 8 yrs. ago!! I don't know what happened as to why they didn't get further with their careers. It's a shame! From this Hoosier, just know I will continue listening to The Why Store!!!

  • I agree on all counts!! Loved this song when it came out and STILL love it!

  • You "CHris"played the casino tonight... your voice is still hot... but the punks ya got playing with you now is nothing like the original "Why Store" That I knew and love... Dude.. I followed you to Georgia before I even started a relationship with a member of the crew.... I heard you were great tonight... but I remember when you were better! REMEMBER THE DAZ.

  • You played the Casino tonight.. thanks for the autograph..... but seriously listening to the new band.... it just aint the same..... Darby from the 90's.

  • I have always been a huge fan of The Why Store and in the late 90s and early 2000s, I saw them play countless times around indiana. What happened was that the self titled album was on MCA Records and MCA obviously sucks at promoting their really good music. This song hit the national charts, but then MCA screwed them by just letting them fade away. Chris Shaffer is amazing!!

  • Boy, I heard this on FM Rock station and I thought I would shit. So

    fucking good, and then...what happened?

  • Wow, this takes me back! I saw these guys a couple of times like 20 years ago when my buddy's band opened for them. Great sound, great songwriting, but NO stage presence and NO marketing. Its a shame.

  • this is a great tune...definitely deserves more recognition...

  • I have all the Why Stores albums, they were a good band, seen them several times at Pierre's....

  • @MrNightrain09 .....Pierre's- god, that brings back lots and lots of blurry/disjointed memories.....

  • i feel like i lack water

  • I am stoked that people are just discovering these guys, he is from my home town; fort wayne, and he rocked many of the big ten campuses for years. I was unfortunate he was Chris was from Indiana, Eddie Vedder was his big compatition at the time and they sound vocally similar. Guitar wise Chris blows him up, but the record companies were in Seattle. Its too bad because their first album is better than this.

  • true that

  • Lost Classic!

  • They played at my fraternity house a gazillion years ago and were great live. Draw of the campus for a year or two way back when.

  • @teltimsahy ya I was there!

  • No his name is Dan.

  • Aside from Chris threatening to "knock me the fuck out", they are a pretty good band!

  • my uncle has guitar lessons with this bands guitarist

  • @Isaacklug is his name benito?

  • AWESOME!!!

  • This has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it in the 90's. He still sounds great!

  • Why is the head of his guitar upside-down?

  • Good.

  • man..you can tell that guy has been playing guitar for a very long time. he 's amazing

  • wow i wish i would have found these guys sooner they are a great band and from my home state

  • Great song all they way through does not get enough respect or attention any more

  • this is a great tune.. wow...

  • He used to rock the best parties at ball state.

  • Love His Voice, It is so unique, not really another voice like it.

  • ive always liked this tune, been following the why store for years and am always inspired by chris' intellectual songwriting abilities.

  • Wow!! This sounds amazing, the studio version is already fantastic, but this is superb!

  • I miss seeing him, anyone here know where he plays a lot? He is the Man!

  • Indiana

  • Halo Chris, we love you just the way you are!!

    Divinely,

    AngelsAtGodCentralStation

  • It took me a good second on Google to remember who these guys were. They were awesome back in the day. I regret that they never made it mainstream. Rock on Chris, Rock on.

  • way underrated group, esp shaffer as front man and songwriter. they were not well promoted or managed, and everyone in the industry thought they were out of the dallas/deep ellum scene of the early 90s, similar sound and vibe to big head todd, jackopierce, better than ezra, toadies, etc. but they weren't, and they got lost in the mix along the way

  • @supergwats boooooooooooooooo 2 u

  • I can say change the name u r not the why store anymore

  • what can you say, excellent.

  • Great driving song! Love the band. More clips on youtube!

  • get more why store on you tube!

  • Heard this song back in the day, loved it then, still do!

  • I have missed this song since WGRD (GR, MI) quit playing it ages ago. Thanks for posting this performance

  • a lost great song of the mid 90's shame it needs more credit.!!!!!!

  • @bucaboy2002 under rated for sure

  • @cavscout0710 true that maybe in another ten years

  • This is a f-ing great song, this performance was in my home town, this should have been a big hit agreed!!!

  • My hometwon too!

  • This was a minor hit that reached all the way to the Jersey shore when I was a much younger man. still a great song in my opinion

  • This is one of the most underrated songs of all time. I have no idea how this did not become a top 10 hit. People have no idea how to market good music.

  • @cart930 I couldn't agree more! This is one of my favorite songs of all time and should have been a major hit, it totally rocks!

  • Oh, my days at BSU! Shaffer is a great musician! Thanks for the great times, Chris!

  • Dan, the bass player, ROCKS MY SOCKS! Haha.

He's my guitar teacher! GO DAN!! x3

  • This song helped me to free myself. I relate...Thank you Chris

  • Honor the Voice of Truth in Chris

You've got to free yourself through self expression.

    Walk in Peace

  • chris i love you

  • burn like fire, burn like a fire in cairo...

  • I saw Chris and The Why Store at Riverfest 1997 in Pontiac, Michigan and they rocked and had the crowd dancing. Great show from an excellent band.

  • i love this song any thing chris does!!!!

  • When is his birthday again? Damn, always forgetting things...

  • I love this song and just remembered it from forever ago! Thanks for posting this.

  • I love Chris but this song just isn't the same without the original band.

  • Bropark, they didn't open for Tom Petty, they opened for The Steve Miller Band at Verizon two years ago. I was there. In my opinion, they showed up the Steve Miller Band. FYI, The Black Crowes opened for Petty two years ago.

  • great song and great vid. nice upload. i miss why store...i saw them open for i think it was tom petty 2 years ago, great concert! hoping to be able to them again sometime. also, their guitarist is amazingly talented. i dont think people realize how hard it is to recreate his solos!

  • Great track from the Chris's band The Why Store. It is track 27, after a long period of silence on the CD. Great CD too!
