  • Excellent movie, thank you for sharing it!!

  • pft, i can do that...here hold my beer!

  • OMG SO MANY GIFS TO BE MADE OF THIS.

  • Whats the name of this movie?

  • thank you vor this upload

  • @MSERAPH hoooly cow ! nobody could ever say that better !

  • Good! And no easy

  • This movie was called "The Honor of Dong Fang Xu" when it was released with English subtitles. There are scenes of the actors using Meihua Quan, Xingyi Quan & Bagua Zhang. Though the budget is low, the story is excellent (compared to most "Wuxia", martial arts movies).

  • @DennisMace i downloaded this movie as 'wu lin zhi A.K.A. the honor of donfang xu' but just an english-dubbed version... the original with subs is nowhere to be found.. :-(

  • Is there anywhere I could get that song?

  • What movie is this? please tell me!

  • The Mandarin version is now available at /u41/v_NDg2NTU3NTg.html on 56.com...

instead of the link envisageamit gave (that one was removed)

I wonder though, does anyone know where to get subtitles in English? I like the original version but don't understand Mandarin :(

  • I watched the whole movie yesterday at the link I had posted below...there isnt any great fight scenes..infact there is hardly any fighting..only this training session was great.

  • where can I watch the whole movie?

  • 56.com.../u80/v_NTI3MDU5OTc.....html

  • Do you have the scene where he fights using bagua?

  • 01:03 I bet the teacher was like "Fail!!!!" XD

  • i like hungar more but ive always respected ba gua masters hard to grab the or hit themm there always moving

  • I have found the whole movie, non-translated or dubbed, on 56 dot com. Go to 56 dot com and use these characters 武林志 Copy the characters and then paste them into the search box on 56 dot com, and the page with the movie will come up. I would put the link here, but links get filtered out of comments here on YouTube. I hope this is helpful. I now have both the dubbed and non-dubbed versions. :0)

  • Does anyone have a translation for what the Sifu is saying please? I would like to understand his teaching. Thank you!

  • @vbywrde Is it just me or is that Sifu exactly like Pai Mei from Kill Bill volume two?

  • I have finally mastered my own martial art called octopus kung fu if you want to learn more come to my channel.

  • arrrgggggg this film is not possible to find!!!

  • Same as Lctoliver here. English dub sucks.

  • im tired of all of you bitching and commenting and just simply putting your calm opinions honestly if your not gonna say you like the vid shut it no one care about your personal lives and no one wants to hear it. thats cool that you either hate or like kung fu...........or other martial arts my point is dont go looking for answers in youtube go practice your own shit then make up your mind

  • I have been looking for this movie for a long time now (two years or so), in the un-dubbed Chinese language version. Anyone know where I can find it? I already have the English dubbed version. You can reply personal message please. Thank you.

  • what movie is this?

  • @Unstucked wulin zhi

  • i can only find this movie with bad quality and english dub (torrent)... Does anyone have a link for this version??

  • Whats the name of the song

  • (cont) to master that kind of martial art. And to learn about "qi", one have to BELIEVE in it first o_0 That takes a long time. But when you can control "qi", people believe that you will be very strong!

I think the "qi kung" things is just you massage your inner organ by controlled breathing and make them very strong. Eventually you will have power and endurance.

  • Actually MSERAPH's words are not necessarily be wrong. Do you know the show "Human weapon"? 2 guys go around and learn different martial arts and spar with professional players and though they trained for a short period of time, they kind of obtain a high level. Not difficult to master the technique but you have to have strong foundation!

    Foundation of Westerners is "Body-build"

Foundation of Kung-fu practitioners (lol) is "qi"

Westerners have a lot of advantages for body-build so it's faster

  • (cont) Martial art, in English means the art to use in fighting, as we see most of the "martial arts" in the West focused on fighting techniques! And most Chinese martial arts also focus on being healthy and live for a long time! As we see most of the martial art in other countries are developed in War (like Ju-jit su) or Pankration. But Chinese martial art, especially Nei-jia (like tai chi chuan or bagua) focused on being healthy and live for a long time.

    And they used different "philosophies"

  • @zero061192 thank you very much it helped me understand alot

  • wow

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • what i wanna know is why the hell kung fu training is so goddamn wierd

  • why do kung fu masters in movies always stroke their beard when watching their students critically?

  • @paddotk I stroke my beard when i'm thinking too and i'm not a Kung Fu master : ) - If i had a beard that LONG i'd stroke it all the time!

  • Awesome!

  • Which movie is his, has it ever been released for the States?

  • ive turned my job into this sort of training! its awsome people look at me weird cause they dont know what im doing but i do, so it tickles me pink. the tactical application of grace is how i like to describe bagua!

  • Amigo jacp11 cual es el titulo nunca habia visto este tipo de arte marcial

  • Very cool

  • The Honour of Dongfang Xu/ Prides Deadly Fury...

Excellent long shots, so you can really see the difference in style...CCP propaganda is outrageous though...

  • wat movie is it???

  • Bagua is awesome.

  • ah hell.

    I'm removing all my comments.

good video, nice post, thanks for posting and all that.

  • Anyone charitable soul want to give me the name to the theme song? I'll be extremely grateful. Tried Googling various things and even checking the IMDB site for the composers, but no success.

  • Is this real???

  • well they did not polish the martial arts techniques through ultra high tech editing like they do now, however the brick walking was likely faked. Everything else though is quite real, the actor's skills I mean. Bruce Lee started a trend in Hong Kong cinema, where they would only hire real martial artists to do movies, prior to Lee, most martial arts films had only Beijing opera dancers.

  • @stardingo747 what you mean its fake bagua circle walking does involve some sort of brick training am i right :x

  • Yes it does, but I doubt the actor is THAT well trained.

We have all been to the circus at one point in our lives; the human body is capable of amazing feats of balance and strength given the right training, so absolutely these stories of Kung Fu masters are true. In the same way a circus strongman would not need any wrestling skills to win at MMA, owing to their raw power, a master of Kung Fu is likely capable of extreme feats of balance and precision.

  • @stardingo747 The "actors" I'm pretty damn sure are martial artists first, actors second. The girl who plays his wife, still trains and teachs in Beijing.

This is one badass flick...my favorite Kung-Fu film by far.

  • whats the Name of this movie

  • look at the info.

  • The fil is called "Wulin zhi (武林志)", english name is "Pride's deadly fury", french name is "le champion de Tianjin".

  • german: "die Ehre des Dongfang Xu"

  • Pride's Deadly Fury. I watched it when i was a kid. classic :)

  • whats the song in the beginning

  • well guys the general difference between kung fu ( bagua included) and kickboxing wrestiling style martial arts is this. the 2nd one is very intuative easy to learn and perform for defense or sparring.but kunf fu is very counterintuative, very difficult to learn and perform(years to learn) even by experienced teachers which are very rare. but its effects once u master it are so much more potent than regular streetfighting cause of the training ways.thats what u trade.effectiveness for fast learn

  • @MSERAPH i couldnt agree more also if you practice kickboxing wrestling etc after 20-30 years practice you actually start getting worse. with bagua tai chi etc thats not the case you just keep getting better.

  • @MSERAPH im sorry but i believe you to be biased. from what ive seen and read kung fu is the essence of power through thought to muscles.. were as bagua is deflect all and hit lots...either one take about the same time to learn.. both are life stlyes just wich is your style and thought pattern..kung fu you get hit but take pain and bagua avoid at all cost..

  • @manufacturedfracture If you want to say "Wu Shu" or "Kung Fu" as a martial art, you gotta say it with capital letter. "kung fu" means other things. "kung fu" of a martial artist can means his "level" of martial art, or it could just mean "trying hard" for something! (for example, if you are studying very hard, one can say you put a lot of "kung fu" in your study!"

Btw I think the different is that, "MARTIAL art" and "WU SHU" (the general term for martial art in Chinese) is different. (cont)

  • @MSERAPH wrong statement is wrong

  • @MSERAPH

So you mean it's like a long-term investment?

  • @MSERAPH all martial arts are different, including different styles of chinese martial arts, bagua and taiji take some while to learn how to effectively fight with them but others like wing chun, xing yi, hung gar etc are more simple and easier to apply in a shorter period of learning. there is as much variety in kung fu as there is between capoeira , taekwondo and western boxing.

  • Bagua would wreck a boxer/wrestler. You have obviously never seen kung-fu before. :D. Bagua is a kung-fu.

  • I'll believe it when i see it.

    you have proof?

  • Now that your intersted in this claim. find a qualified bagua instructor, spend a few years with the teacher and diligently learn what he has to teach.

  • Comment removed

  • this would be perfect for a fight, bagua is the ultimate martial art if you dont want to seriously hurt your opponent, or get hurt yourself, the few strikes bagua does have( that are unique to bagua) are used to disable your opponent with little harm. very good for dodging, or leading people into walls, boxes, chairs, etc.

  • ....Though its also very good if you want to seriously hurt a person. Plenty of lethal submissions, neck strikes ect. You have to look at the applications that come with yin and yan my friend. Very good points though.

  • If you were to attack me with your own physical prows your arm would be broken in a split second. Now what was that about not being useful?

  • bagua in its true form wasnt created to destroy your opponent. it was created in order to not hurt your opponent, the few actual strikes specifically for bagua are to disable but not harm too much.

  • Sorry my friend - just like all other Chinese martial arts, Bagua was created to injure, maim, and kill your opponent. That's how Dong Hai Chuan and his students became so famous -- they were incredibly good fighters.

A true internal palm strike destroys internal organs and tissues. The bagua throws toss a person on their skull or neck to be killed. Much of the footwork breaks an opponent's knees or ankles.

  • im talking about shaolin bagua and my school's form of it, sorry.

  • Ah okay, I understand. Good luck!

  • the english title is "the honor of dongfang xu" :) ... peace

  • I saw it as " Pride's Deadly Fury" , but hey tomato or tomato

  • People every society every civilization has had a form of fighting and training. Check out videos on youtube of Indian martial arts kalaripayattu, historical data suggests this art was formed way before any established Chinese martial arts.

  • Seems like it's a great movie!!! Does it have another name (other than wulin zhi)??

  • 4:32

Why did he actually have to touch the pole? Couldn't he have destroyed it with a chi blast?

  • @BigDaddyBongos because you watch/read too much weird shit.

  • what movie is this?

  • This movie is amazing! Is really inspiring!

  • Comment removed

  • I dont know man, you would be amazed at what you could do when you truely set your mind to it. Namaste.

  • Its a movie.

  • Dude, in the world of martial arts, there is no such thing as a deadly style. What matters most is how the fighter analyze his or her technique in the fight. Shut your BS on how deadly bajiquan is.

  • @stardingo747: Please stop spreading lies. I'm a Muslim and my Chinese master is a Muslim that practices and teaches Bagua. There is nothing in Bagua or any other martial art that we would lable as "Idolatry". I love all Chinese martial arts.

In China in the past, many Buddist, Daoist, and Muslim masters killed attackers in fights, this had nothing to do with religion, but it had to do with the person himself and the situation at hand.

  • There is religious Daoism that involves idol worship.

However if its philosophical Daoism you are talking about which is religion neutral then I agree with you.

  • Unique among Kung Fu styles, Baijiquen is not restricted by Buddhist or Daoist ethics, it is a martial art designed especifically to badly maim an assailant because the religion of Islam holds that "no enemy deserves mercy in a time of war" or, even, personal conflict. Its easy to confuse the two, but Chinese Muslims don't practice Bagua Zhang, its too influenced by Daoism, which, Chinese Muslims would label as idolatry.

  • all kung fu styles are ruthless

  • Tight film. Many thanks.

  • that music is awesome, do you know the name?

  • You disrespect me, and my family, now... you'll get a taste of my fancy walking!!!

  • coincidentally they are famous bodyguards and many chinese muslims practice it.

  • Actually, Chinese Muslims practice an even more lethal and ruthless form of Kung Fu known as Baijiquan. For an idea of its power, see the character Akira Yuki of Virtua Fighter 5. Real life masters of Baijiquan, are 10 times worse than Akira when it comes to sheer cold bloodedness.

  • look up "this is baji" on you tube ; )

  • as far as i know, chinese muslims practice rather direct and hard styles.

    For example:

Bajiquan,Tamtui(which is for sure an ''islamic style''.It has been developed by a muslim), Xingyiquan and lanshou

  • Xingyiquan was developed by Daoists, and so was this one.

Its easy to get the two mixed up because they sound so similar; Bagua Zhang, Baiji Quan, however only the latter was developed by Chinese Muslims. Chinese Muslims practice direct and hard styles because the religion of Islam does not have the same ethical restraints as Buddhism or Daoism. Daoism and Buddhism say "don't hurt him!" however Islam says "who gives a fuck he's your enemy!"

  • If you think buddhist and daoist styles are meant not to hurt, you clearly haven't seen Xinyiquan, Chen Taijiquan, Hung Gar or Choy Lee Fut, just to name a few. Those are just the styles that are obviously violent.

By the way, there's also a Muslim style of Xingyiquan.

  • All martial arts involve some degree of injury or other, if it didn't it would not be martial arts. The ethics involved means a WILLINGNESS TO INFLICT IT, and of all unarmed combat styles, Baijiquan is by far the most cold blooded, and most "willing" to severely hurt an opponent. Its part of why I don't like it. Also, please stop confusing Baiji with Bagua! They are not the same art! Soft hearted as I am, I would almost PREFER Bagua over Karate!

  • Mate, I know how different Baji and Bagua are. Seen them both.

Again I tell you, you're the one confused. Daoist styles are called that, mainly because they base their techniques in daoist principles. Bagua (the eight trigrams), Taiji (the ultimate principle), the five elements, etc.

Even though heavily influenced by buddhist teachings and philosphy, most southern styles were designed and practiced by revolutionaries. Their main goal was tu literally hurt the manchus.

  • most southern styles had their beginings in the Shaolin temple, and ruthless techniques were put in there not from a need to hurt someone, but the recognition that in "the real world," some people may not apreciate compasionate self defense, so you need more cold blooded methods. Its the same with the neijia (internal) arts. What makes Baijiquan so different, and dangerous, is that the Chinese Muslims who made it NEVER had "compassion for the enemy" in mind when they made it.

  • Dude, you should check your kung fu history. Taijiquan was developed by a retired general (Chen Wang Ting). Xingyiquan by Yueh Fei (again, general). Baguazhang is the exception but it still wasn't developed by a monk.

As for nanpai wugong, you think ming revolutionaries had compassion towards the manchus? After being hunted down?

    Dude, again, check you're sources.

  • That the martial arts began in the Shaolin temple is pretty much common knowledge among Kung Fu fans. Also, the whole Chen Wang Ting inventing Tai Chi Chuan is a subject of controversy in China, certainly the Chen's are not very Daoist in taking credit like that. Moreover, the Shaolin arts were USED by revolutionaries, but that does not mean that is what Bodhidharma meant that they be used in that way.

    *bows*

  • still, thanks for keeping it civil!

Despite our "heated and hateful discussion and disagreement," you have proven that the ethics of martial arts, make for superiorly moral people!!! Where you another youtube douchebag, you'd probably be calling me a "retard" or something.

Again; the east asian styles have superior ethics!!!!

  • You're fine too mate. It's good to have a civil discussion with such opposite points of view.

As for Shaolin being the origin of Martial Arts, that's a common myth. There's historical evidence of kung fu from before Shaolin's founding. Let alone Damo's arrival. Also, Chen Wang Ting's foundig of taiji is the most commonly accepted version. And the one with most historical evidence. Zhang San Feng's origin story is more folklore than history. Though he is credited by some with the basics.

  • If this argument has not been settled by the Chinese martial arts authorities, I really see no point in why WE should fight about it then!

  • If you mean the origin of martial arts, it's settled. There's historical evidence. That's also the case for Chen (and Yang, Wu/Hao, Hao and Sun) taiji. Also the founders of those schools were not monks or in any way related to the monastic life. If you mean, the origin of taiji, and Zhang San Feng's story, you're right.

  • You forgot Muslim Longfist.

  • all real kung fu are cold blooded

baji techniques are common northern kung fu techniques

  • the techniques are meant to cover all ranges of self defense, from the passive to the deadly, to encompass all situations. It is not the art that is cold blooded or ruthless. Its the nature of the practioner alone that can exhibit these qualities. Kung Fu can kill or merely keep you out of the way of an attack and everything in between. Its based on the person and the situation.

  • hi bastion thanks for the reply. ruthlessness is part of chinese bandit culture. even the bodyguards that protect the caravans knew and were friends with the bandits.

  • *smiles* well of course they were ruthless. It was a requirement of the life. and you are right fighting at its core is never gentle, one can still show restraint and mercy but fighing as many would say is conflict. I personally believe however and this is just my take on it from experience, that a true martial artist no matter the country or style is one who knows when to restrain themselves and when they need to let go of that restraint. It should be noted I didnt say control. one must always

  • control his movements to be effective.

  • i also want to add internal martial art has gentler forms of training but not gentler fighting. fighting is never gentle

  • the part about the bodyguards though IS accurate; Baijiquan masters have consistently, throughout China's history since the martial art was invented, trained men who went on to become imperial, and later on government bodyguards.

  • Love this vid!

  • hi.. wath´s the name of the film?

  • Its an 80's film called wulin zhi.

  • not fake jumps, hahaha it's just an old video trick, they just reversed it. Or so...they were on the pole and then jumped off. that's why it looks so smooth when they "jump" up to the poles.

  • For help to all, he name of this film is Deadly Fury:

Wu Lin Zhi [武林志] in Chinesse

    Prides Deadly Fury (HK)

The Honor of Dongfang Xu (US)

    Le Champion de Tianjin (France)

    Duell mit harten Faeusten (Germany)

  • thnx!!!^^

  • yo speedy.....loll

  • Thank you, will recruit it from shop!!

  • schön. could be a nice to have Film,

although I don't understand chinese the language here is so clear. good for learners I think.

Thanks weshookhands, for the Info about ge chunyan. she is the reason which pushes me into Chentaiji greetings D

  • Bagua is my fav.

  • this is Li Junfeng, former Beijing Wushu Team Coach. --> modern wushu.

so i'm not quite sure how traditional his bagua in pride's deadly fury really is, lacking knowledge about his (traditional?) bagua background.

nonetheless a quite impressing performance of traditional bagua training techniques.

Ge Chunyan, another Beijing Wushu Team member, also starrs in the movie.

  • when he walks around the circle, thats actually real baugua, only you dont walk on stones

  • wow how did he jump that high?

  • love it wow i need more practice thanks what is the name of this more please tell

  • I want to purchase that movie, were can I get it (prefer german audio), thanks.

  • I can just imagine falling and busting my face on those poles.

  • Amazing and usefull. It inspires and gives general information - what is bagua and how western "teachers" are far away from perfect mastery.

  • i was told that wu lin zhi is a film featuring actual bagua practitioners.

Notice the student keeps his mouth shut.

  • goodevening all, i'm mak.

i truly appreciate jcap11 for sharing this archive. i'm inspired in all parts of my life..

    thankyou for this video.

  • Baguazhang, xingyi and taijiquan can not be fused with modern wushu. These styles need no modification. They are pure. Cheng bagua is often called swimming bagua because Cheng Tinghua had a very illusive type of footwork with his shuajiao. This translates in his very famous version of bagua. Wushu people favor his because it is more asthetically appealing than Yin style. It flows more.

  • I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but this guy is actually really impressive. I mean he actually had to walk on those bricks. Of course, he wasn't really carrying those heavy things but his steps coordination was amazing. He probably was a Bagua practitioner.

  • its the air bending style from Avatar

  • No, it's called Baguazhang and it has existed for hundreds of years.

  • you can learn more from this clip than the rest of the fake Ba Gua crap on you tube.

  • what style of bagua is the girl doing?

  • A wushu based cheng style.

  • i'm not sure where the conversation turned to "bending" (and yes... i've seen the Avatar. a lot. haha) But since there's no subtitles, i thought i might try to fill in some of the blanks: towards the end, the master was talking about using your "heart" instead of your fists (or a sword). So it was basically relating internal w/ external arts. That's all... just thought it was pretty cool..

  • deadly fury movie. Avatar style.

  • lol, i do bagua...... and when i saw the bowls of water on sticks i was like OMG HES GONNA WALK ON THEM?????? and then i thought OMG IM GONNA WALK ON THOSE? and then i saw the rest (:

  • What movies is this?

  • 武林誌

  • OMG that is soo cool!!

  • english!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL.

I always get a kick out of watching the ladies. Their form is always so perfect!

  • martial arts kick ass.

I'm not even officially training, but thanks to faster reflexes from doing Kata (and from Tai Chi, limited), I prevented a fatal car crash!

  • this just like the movements in avatar air bending

  • this is the martial art of airbending

  • It is the movement they used this style to animate off.

  • okay,

    bagua = airbending,

    taiji = waterbending,

hung gar/ northern or southern shaolin = eartbending,

and northern or southern shaolin = firebending

when i say northern or southern i dont remember which one it is, but shaolin nonetheless

  • The English title of this movie is 'The Honour of Dongfang Xu'. But I'am more interested in the German title.

This movie is awsome as far I can say.
