Thanks for the vid. I'm repairing and refinishing the deck of a 32 foot sailboat which has involved a lot of fairing and sanding. Though I knew about the cold shower, using a long-sleeved shirt or paper sleeves, and a cartridge respirator, I never knew about applying talcum powder. Thanks again!!
before you shower...use one of your wifes ,or GF's old nylons rub them over the itchy area and the fine knit pulls the fibres out of your pores; done it for years now and no problem; baby powder is a neat idea too
wheuu !! Bob your the man. I dealt with that and it was he!!. First big job for me and it was a learning experience. You definitely know your stuff really hope you continue your videos, they are very informative.
Good stuff. My (nearly braindead) friend once saw that the jon was out of toilet paper, so he used some fiber glass sitting around instead. Needless to say, he had to go home early that day.
Hi bob, thanks for these amazing tips, I'm an apprentice carpenter we have to do insulation too, it sucks big time, especially in the summertime. Found these tips really helpfull thanks.
Also found your drywall videos really helpfull too, as we do that aswell. Also your woodworking apron video was informative and helped me decide on my apron.
Fiber glass in an Atiic Will not be that old Seeing as how they used to use woodchips for insulation, and before that sometimes nothing, Im an Installer and Use the Baby Powder, Definetly use a face mask but sometimes you dont its okay but hes right better be safe.
Although I'm not a doctor, I am sure that any foreign matter entering your lungs can't be good. There was a time when asbestos could be bought in a powder form in any hardware store. Just because it's easily accessible doesn't mean that in the future they won't find all the true hazards that exist. Better to be more cautious and assume that it's dangerous.
I was very close to doing my insulation but read that the attic may have asbestos in it and since it is 100 years old and I don't know its history. Good video though on how to not get glass in your skin.
So true, during many types of removals[roofing, flooring, insulation, heating ducts ,hot water pipes]in older homes there is alwayes a possibility of asbestos. There are testing sites that will test for you,if it does exist in your project and your not willing or able to take all neccesary protection, then hiring a qualified proffesional would be the best.thanks for your post!---Bob
Saw this video awhile ago and thought the baby powder tip was definitely worth trying next time I have to insulate. Well, unfortunately next week will be all about insulation for me. Doing a triplex...in the dead of Summer too. So fun.
Anyway, thanks for the tip and I've really enjoyed all your videos. They all offer a great tip or two, even for us guys who do this every day.

@extantia Hopefully the sailboat is in a warm water port where an occasional dip would also help! +++Bob
