I seriously believe Jason Becker was the greatest guitarist EVER! Hes better then Yngwie, and only played into his early twenties, if he could still play, it would be crazy and more technical then anything else ever made. Also, the most impressive thing is while it was fast and technical, it still had melody and emotion. AMAZING GUITARIST.

Dannyboy, Ywngie is technicaly an accomplished musician, but there is more to music then one genre, or technical ability. To say he played the song better then Becker pointless, it was his song and you have no idea how long Becker practiced for or prepared the music for the gig, maybe he just picked up the score the previous day?

I agree with you man, in all honesty. I just think it's silly when people come to a video like this and come out with "wow he plays it way better than Yngwie" when it is so clearly not the case. It is monumentally uncool to like Yngwie, but to deny him his due's is just immature. I think Jason is astonishing, one of the finest guitar players the world of rock and metal has and will ever see. But for this video, Yngwie pisses all over it. That is the one and only point I was trying to make.

024764... you miss the point. Yngwie wrote Black Star (and numerous of his other "classics") by the age of about 16 or 17. Yngwie wrote the damn thing, Becker simply played it (and might I add, played it much worse than Yngwie himself played it at a similar age). Jason Becker was an outstanding guitar talent, but Yngwie Malmsteen is a genre defining guitar legend, though sadly, because it is criminally uncool to love Yngwie, many refuse to admit this to be the truth. Even though it clearly is.

I think the world of Jason Becker, he is a legend and a super inspirational human being (and because of this, perhaps slightly overrated in guitar terms. Though he is miles better than I) but everytime I see this video I ask myself how he could have played it in such a flat and boring way. His bending intonation is kinda horrible at crucial moments. I guess cause he was putting on a performance he kinda slopped over a few bits or something. NVM, he justifies himself in his own works.

I stand by what I said, Yngwie pretty much wrote the tune at 16/17 y/o (along with countless other classics) and played it no doubt numerous times live flawlessly. You're being rather naive. Go and check out "The Genesis", everything on there was written and recorded when YJM was 17 or younger. Much of it made it's way in some form or other onto his later works through reworkings of it etc. I can write a song right now and play it live in small home town venues, only to end up putting it on an album 10 years down the line and having the world as a whole hear it for the first time. If you are going to try and number your facts make sure they're thought out.
