1. Japan's geography does not allow to use mounted archery as they use in Asia. the whole country is segregated, and very hilly.
2. Massive troops number require a lot food. Even if they loot, they have to maintain a long supply chain, that is vulnerable to attacks.

Drive a horse trough thick hily forest smartass, where even man can hardy go. Morover drive a whole army there.
That tiny country is an econmic power and Mongolia's influence is below horsepiss now.
You know the Iranian, the Turkish, the Indians or Koreans would tell a different story. Every nation is lying their own greatness as they can. Genghis Khan is gone, just as Alexander the Great, or all the others. All empire is doomed to die.
To be honest the Japanese were helped by the kamikaze "divine winds" which destroyed the mongol fleets but lets be real here. If the mongols did make a landing they wouldn't be able to use their horse archers effectively. They would have to use their Chinese units but those would be fighting the Japanese warriors game and would most likely been turned back. In the end, who gives a ****. It already happened, Japan won, the Mongol Empire doesn't exist anymore.
I always think that the military prowess of the Japanese was overrated. Japan became a military power in Asia only when they adopted Western technologies in the late 19th century. Before that time Japan was an isolated agricultural society.
Japan was able to withstand mongol invasions because of their isolated geographical location surrounded by seas. If Japan was connected to the Asian mainland then I'm sure that Mongols would able to conquer Japan.
@TheXanian the Japanese have a lot of pride and do a good job of embellishing their history. So i guess thats true. And if it wasn't for the seastorms that took out the mongol ships, im sure japan would look very different today. lol
Если бы не шторм, уничтоживший большую часть флота монгольского, от самохвальства японского и места бы не осталось в истории. Все эти самовосхваляемые буси, не выстоят против монголов. Это очевидно.
Ethnic Han Chinese probably did participated in the later invasions of Mongols into Japan but their results are probably not effective. In fact, there is long held conspiracy theory that Chinese ship builders purposely made the Mongol fleet to be vulnerable to Typhoon attack.
We have to agree, the factor of water barrier did much to deter Mongols invasion of japan, that limits the numbers they can transport, and the tactical manoevring that they can employ, since the Heike conflict between the Minamoto clan and the Taira clan after, the Japanese have no knowledge of handling large scale army, they are lucky to have a natural wall of seas and luck in weather as defense, their skill in personal combat is probably a bonus, but not conclusive enough to be a huge factor.
You do know the Mongol invasion and the Heike is only a few generations apart. ^^'''The Hojo clan featured here is exactly the same Hojo clan which bought the Minamoto to power.
And same thing can be said about the rise of Mongols. The Mongols would not be able to rise if the Jurchen Jin is not weakened with its constant warfare with Southern Song. The Southern Song General Yue Fei and Han Shizhong's campaign on the Jin (just one or two generation ago) had put great strain on the Jin military power, which weakened their ability to keep the Mongol factions in check.
@Balencian Yea, I sort of know what Hojo clan does to it's cousin clan, the Taira to help the Minamoto and what they do after, but the fact is that lots of the Mongol tactic are made for large scale war, which the Japanese did not encountered before, but if weren't for the Kamikaze, lousy river boats issued and the pot-bellied Khan, part of Japan would have been occupied by the Mongols, If Genghis Khan or his sons or right hand men were there, this would have been a quick and decisive victory.
@Balencian On the side note, the video is well done don't you think, good job @auberginetow , I'm not against Samurai btw, I love Samurai, I love everything about Japan in fact, but I think the only time when they really have the real skill to beat back the Mongols is during the Sengoku period with people like Takeda Shingen, Uesugi Kenshin, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Date Masamune and Oda Nobunaga etc. But at that time, they got lucky with all the elements coming together to their favor for the Japanese.
2) I think like the Three Kingdoms, the Sengoku period generals were simply overrated due to the period's popularity. Japan had plenty of good Samurai generals that did not live during the Sengoku period like Hojo Tokimune (The samurai shown in this video), Kusunoki Masashige (regarded by the Japanese as their war god) or the legendary strategist, Minamoto Yoshitsune.
And as I said before I too believed the Mongols are overrated, what kept the Mongols intact is great leader like Genghis Khan and even with Genghis, the Mongols are not invincible. They were simply lucky, everyone around them were weak when they are at the limelight. During the same period when Genghis is alived, a Jurchen a general named 完顏陳和尚 did defeated 8000 Mongol Calvary with 400 Jurchen calvary. Problem is his victory came too late to save Jin.
@Balencian Well, history is written by the victors, somehow they will overrate themselves thats for sure, but like as saying goes, as quote from my Tutor "I got the skill to bully, do you have?" This probably is most true, as to be successful there must be element of skills displayed to achieve their nature of goal. Yet the element of bully is there where they tend to overrate themselves, so yea, every civilization has skills and potential, but will somehow overrate themselves anyway.
In japan's own historic documents they were losing the battle against the mongols. It was simply good fortune for them that the mongols pulled back to their ships for regrouping
@Timurchin1 blood of a horse? ok thats not true. every soldier in the mongol army had 2 horse. so that they can save one them in reserve and ride it later when the current one get exhausted. and mongolian soldiers had dairy products that if you lick them you will not get thirsty for the rest of the day. and the soldiers ate dried meats which is called borts in mongolian. and the other armies of that time had to set camp and cook their food. mongolian army didnt have to xD
Western Japan Samurai army defeat Mongol on coastline many times.Mongol army was hiding in their ships for one month.Samurais took their ships by assault at every nights.war was over before 300000 samurais of main divisions arrive.Samurais executed Mongolians and KOreans.release Chinese.KOrean King tempted Mongol Emperor to invade Japan.KOrean troop killed over 10000 Japanese civilian and raped 5000 Japanese women and ate Japanese dead bodies on Iki Island and Tsushima island.
They beat back the mongols toward their ships. Apart from the storm taking down some of their ships, the Japanese were able to take down mongols in close quarter fighting once they boarded some of their ships.
Nope, the Battle of Koan shows them beating back the invaders towards their ships. They even have a scroll depicting samurai boarding their ships and decimating their numbers up close and personal. Superior swordsmanship prevails.
"korean and chinese" <--- copout for mongol failure. Couldn't take the island with people who at least had some experience concerning naval matters, a steppe barbarian like a mongol would have even far less success without them.
Great problems with the Mongols is when they have nothing to pillage and loot, their supplies ran out. Many people said the Typhoon denied the Mongols victory over Japan, it is more than that, the Mongols firstly had chosen a wrong spot to land (Kyushu is outskirts of Japan) and the Japanese too had stalled the Mongols long enough before they can even built a ground camp, which is just as an important to the victory as the typhoon.
@NopeJPeg the strongest part of the four Mongol Khanates was the Golden Horde which located in Russia,the Golden Horde beat the Ilkhanate at the battle of Terek,and the Ilkhanate beat Toli Khanate(Chinese people call it "Yuan Dynasty"),and occupied a vast land in the west of Toli Khanate.Toli Khanate who invaded Japan was almost the weakest Mongol troop....
You did say Samurai counter attacked Mongol and Mongol started withdrawing before the typhoon hit according to official Mongol historical record 元史日本伝、高麗史金方慶伝『高麗史節要』 巻十九、二十五参照
@auberginetow No Yuan dynasty was named by Kublai which meant "New beginning". And the troops invading Japan were Mongols because Chinese deliberately made the ships weak so that the Mongol soldiers will die when they sailed on sea.
Yes, they were not best mongol troops, but they included best Korean and Chinese troops. And 100,000 more troops couldn't success landing for weeks. All of their landings were beaten by samurai in beach. And the samurai were not best troops, too. Most of them were local samurai near their landing area.
@auberginetow Lie, Blitzkrieg strategy allowed samurais to make the mongols retreat to their ships, because they weren't able to display the cavalry. Then the typhon destroyed a lot of ships, making mongols retreat to the continengt.
@auberginetow The samurais hold the line the Mongols coulnt push trougth even tough few mongols were even there Must were Chinese Koreans and other peoples that were under Mongol rule. The Japanese not only hold against them they even attacek their fleet with their small ships!
@agame1108 You watch too much anime. Do you even know what this is about? Actually, why am I even asking?
Kublai Khan, who had China under his control as a ruler of a foreign, Mongol dynasty, invaded Japan with a force at least five times larger than all Japan's armies at once via a sea-based attack. The Japanese fought a defensive (and losing) battle.
So they picked a the smart way to win: they forced the Mongolians to sea in a desperate assault and let them be killed by a typhoon.
@agame1108 He was pissed because of their victory (as they predicted the typhoon, while the Mongols were no experts of naval warfare) so he decided to bring an even larger force afterwards. Turns out he hot hit by yet another typhoon before even reaching Japan's shores, so he quit as he realized fate planned to protect Japan and fuck the Khan (that and the Japanese people's knowledge of their own weather and the art of war - as I said, they won through a smart move, not through arms).
the middle eastern army is the first army that had ever beat the mongol monsters , we raped them at Ayn Jalut Battle , so i can assure you that they will never think of invading the middle east
lol you ignorant , mongolian army are not the same turks that fought in mamluks army , also Mamluke means slave in Arabic , they were slaves that have been bought by Arab caliphate and he trained them and made them his Army , but they speak Arabic and also not 100% all turk slaves , there training there life there identity is all Arab , not mongols at all ! even the fighting style , it was absolutely fight between middle east and mongols
you dare compare your primitive barbaric invasions to Arabs history ? you know Arabs were only beduin tribes in the desert , but they conqured all the middle east and north africa , you know that all the middle east speak Arabic ? this is because we have a very strong civilization we are powerful in military and everything else , not like barbaric mongols they invaded a huge area quickly and they disapeared quickly too , we created Mamlukes we raised and trained them
also Mamlukes are not only Turk , they were from alot of countries from middle of asia and niggros from africa , and the free Arab mujahideen who fought with the mamlukes army , mongols are barbaric idiots where are they now ? lol , come to the middle east and see that 95 % of the middle east speak Arabic from other races like egyptians , kurds , amazight , niggros , persians , iraqis ; ) , we made them arab we melted the middle east to our heritage
Baybars was Genghis hans grandson berke's son in law
these slaves were so obedient .. so for three months a Turkish woman reigned there ,later she married Aybek khan, and do you want more ?..Baybars himself, assigned next khalifate , instead murdered khaliphate ..He killed Kutuz ,baybars son Berke (another Berke) was resigned because other warriors didnt want him to be their leader ..
for short..they were real rulers and if they were not there your khalifate would perish!!
Soldiers who fought with many nations and defeated them, they must have real experience. The history itself proves it. Japan, little country with no experience then fighting with each other. I think that the only advantage they had is sea. Mongolians used to fight on the ground, they're not sailors. As for Mongolians were defeated by fine swordsmanship of Japanese samurai, I think is a great like. It can be proven very easy, they couldn't even defeat Korea. Only by fire weapon they went to China
this is my first time knowing this! lol thx

According to your blog, Nov 25 1274, Mongol landed on Kyushu but they weren't able to occupy there because of counterattack of local Samurai clans.
In the evening, Chingto忻都 and Kim bang Gyung 金方慶 had an argument, they didn't expect such a harsh counterattack.
They decided to withdraw next day. It was sprikling rain outside at the time.
Their ships left early morning of 26th day and the ships sank while they were withdrawing.
That's how History of Mongolia 元史 described.

You did say Samurai counter attacked Mongol and Mongol started withdrawing before the typhoon hit according to official Mongol historical record 元史日本伝、高麗史金方慶伝『高麗史節要』 巻十九、二十五参照
Why do you say different things here?

@auberginetow
Unfortunately it was Kublai Khan that was referred as the Khan of the Khans.
Balencian 2 months ago
@auberginetow No Yuan dynasty was named by Kublai which meant "New beginning". And the troops invading Japan were Mongols because Chinese deliberately made the ships weak so that the Mongol soldiers will die when they sailed on sea.

@auberginetow

PaTiToMoMO 2 months ago

AndyRaslan 2 months ago
@agame1108 He was pissed because of their victory (as they predicted the typhoon, while the Mongols were no experts of naval warfare) so he decided to bring an even larger force afterwards. Turns out he hot hit by yet another typhoon before even reaching Japan's shores, so he quit as he realized fate planned to protect Japan and fuck the Khan (that and the Japanese people's knowledge of their own weather and the art of war - as I said, they won through a smart move, not through arms).

@kelRapunzel
you dare compare your primitive barbaric invasions to Arabs history ? you know Arabs were only beduin tribes in the desert , but they conqured all the middle east and north africa , you know that all the middle east speak Arabic ? this is because we have a very strong civilization we are powerful in military and everything else , not like barbaric mongols they invaded a huge area quickly and they disapeared quickly too , we created Mamlukes we raised and trained them
ze000ez 6 months ago
@ze000ez why didnt u trained them against Hulagu if you were so well
you only good at making up stories ...BYEEE..

kelRapunzel 6 months ago
@kelRapunzel
also Mamlukes are not only Turk , they were from alot of countries from middle of asia and niggros from africa , and the free Arab mujahideen who fought with the mamlukes army , mongols are barbaric idiots where are they now ? lol , come to the middle east and see that 95 % of the middle east speak Arabic from other races like egyptians , kurds , amazight , niggros , persians , iraqis ; ) , we made them arab we melted the middle east to our heritage
ze000ez 6 months ago
@ze000ez yes yes

MegaMr2008 7 months ago
@MegaMr2008 In this case, the mongol's probably would've won if they weren't constantly being wrecked by the sea.
