  • Cool video and how did you record the convo?

  • If someone would be kind enough to answer this question for me. I'm near sighted and I was told that F.A.A doesn't except lasik but does except cataract lens replacement. Does anyone have info on this? It would be greatly appreciated.

  • @SeraphimSword you should be ok

  • This video is wonderful. Thank you for sharing it. I can see the Sheraton La Reina on the background as the plane is preparing for take off. Brings back a lot of goods memories. Really good. Muchas gracias.

  • You forgot the at in the title, since it was winds of Zero Six Zero (60 degrees) at 6 knots.

  • AWESOME! Just how can you know which channel to listen to? I'm a flight addict and I'd like to try this myself!

  • I haven't been to SAN or LAX in a loooooooong time!

  • Thanks for putting this up for airline addicts like myself. Great vid!

  • Thats my ATC instructor!! MT. SAC Air Traffic Controllers for L!FE!!

  • The video was great, and I really appreciate the ATC traffic! The sunrise was beautiful! All in all a great video. Thanks for sharing.

    -Doc-

  • This video made me fall in sleep, really!!

  • Thank you for the Video, how you can understand what they say? is can of hard because the radio noise, and the fast they talk. ;)

  • very awesome video man ! since you also taped the other aircrafts on line up waiting for take pff on the same runway !

  • very awesome video man ! since you also taped the other aircrafts on line up waiting for take pff on the same runway !

  • Now this is a video well done, good job!! Subscribed and favorited this!

  • I only fly United =0D

  • so much for all electronics off during takeoff

  • Beautful, Just Beautiful!!! I love the video! I cant wait til i get back in a plane again to go to Jamaica in July!

  • can the economy seats hear the radio? im gonna fly from Honolulu Hawaii to LAX next month American Airlines 757 =)

  • not like u can transmit on those radios

  • I think that the controller in the LAX is too busy! They are professionals..

BTW There are domestic flights only in this vid why?

  • @yukiootohata It's early in the morning. Most international flights from LAX take off later on in the day or late at night.

  • What kind of head phones do you need and did you have a police radio .

  • United is the only airline in the world that allows passengers to monitor cockpit/ATC transmissions via Channel 9 on inflight entertainment units. I hope they keep this feature after the merge with Continental.

  • oh, ok dont SAS allowed that to do that on ENGM?

  • awesomeee

  • if winds were 060 at 6, wouldnt taking off from the 6 and 7 heading runways be more favorable than taking off from the usual 25s and 24s?

  • Sorry if you already answered this, but how did you record channel 9?

  • FL92002 amazing video with many different airlines.the ATC conversation with the pilot made it even better.I could see Delta,Continental,American and obviously United.Keep up the gud work.

  • nice

  • club la costa airliner by Ion langhan UK

  • Great video! I love early morning departures, Thanks for sharing.

  • great video :D

  • Fly between SFO and LAX every week on United. Very scary that I recognize the controller's voice. "Pooooosssssition and hold!!!!"

  • what a great video, really enjoyed it.

  • What Was It They Were Saying?

  • @DennisBillington ATC (air traffic control) was clearing the planes in front of this one to take off then telling the next one to "position and hold" on the runway. once the planes are separated enough, atc clears the next plane to take off. when atc clears a plane for take off it will generally sound like "united 84. winds zero six zero at 6, runway 25 right, cleared for takeoff." stating the plane's callsign, winds heading and speed, and the runway to take off.

  • @DennisBillington air traffic control was giving clearances to take off. "united 84, winds zero six zero at six, runway 25 right, cleared for take off." this tells the pilots the wind speed and direction, the correct runway, and that they are cleared to take off. once the plane leaves the ground, the tower is no longer responsible for them and hands them off to a different center. "united 84 contact socal departure."

  • I love United Channel 9! I've flown United the past several flights I've been on. Wonderful airline! Thanks for posting! Cool to hear ATC and watch takeoff. :)

  • Taking off with a tailwind?

  • you can takeoff with a tailwind. i think most airlines restrict it to a max of 15 kts tailwind. not uncommon

  • @mattwright16 can atc give higher wind clearance? like if they didnt want to switch runways around and wind was 20KIAS would they still do tailwind? or just switch departure sides?

  • @dylanhelmer no, airlines won't take 20 kt tailwind. they would just switch departure sides. i know in atlanta since they have 5 parallels, the ones that they have on approach on the east side and land, while they have others approaching on the west side. they just time it so that as soon as they get the last ones down, they immediately start using the opposite runway. hope that helps

  • @dylanhelmer but it's very rare even if they take off with a 5 kt tailwind cause the airport will always switch it for a headwind. gives the aircraft better performance. i know the jets CAN take off in a tailwind, but the pilots won't do it. at least i don't when i fly

  • GREAT VIDEO!!! i really liked listing to the tower, how did u do that? with all the airline takeoff videos ive seen i think urs was the best one!!!!! great job man!

  • Ive never flown before and planes are by far my biggest fear, my mom just booked a surprise vacation and now in a week i am going to ride one, can you explain the expeirience for me?

  • wow that looks beautiful.

    doesn't make me scared anymore.

  • GREAT video man. Wonderful.

  • so what was the first aircraft to take off, i could not follow

  • @qwertyguy76 AA MD80 i think

  • Very nice

  • dang wat a nice video

  • Excellent video and many thanks for the detailed description. I am a big fan of LiveAtc and have flown United from Newark to Chicago and back several times and loved their Channel 9 feature!

  • BEST ATC of any YouTube

  • nice vid

  • Was Delta 166 a Boeing 737?

  • I think it was a 757 because the traffic controller gave a wake turbulence warning to United 84. 757s are known to produce strong wake turbulence during climbout.

  • Negative ghostrider. A winglet B752

  • looked like a 767...

  • no, Delta is a boeing 767. :)

  • no it is a boeing 757 winglets

  • very nice.

  • great video man. excellent with the ATC. I didn't know they had that station on the in flight radio.

  • Hi!Its was very good flight!

I love sharing on flight video with a passenger aircraft!

    I give you 5 star!

    Greeting theCARRE74=)

  • have you had a radio abord during take-off?

it's impossible to find arguements against this electronic device, because the pilot do also use one ; )

  • No Its Channel 9. A feature on UAL's in flight entertainment that allows passengers to hear the active comm frequency from the cockpit. If you're on a UAL flight and it's turned off 99 times out of 100 if you ask the FA's the pilots will turn it on.

  • i think this is a good idea, i'm from germany, and if you ask me,if they would turn it on on lufthansa flights, noone would understand any single word, even if it isn't hard, ive got a radio license for flying

  • Great Job! This is an amazing video! I've only flown United once. Are you a frequent United flyer?

  • Yes I am.

  • Could everybody in the airplane hear the radio when the pilots were speaking?

  • No. Only if you were using your headphones and listening to the specific channel.

  • @FL92002 so if i fly from Oslo (Engm ) and have my radio with headphones, can i listen to the twr then?

  • @damhaugandreas Only on United Airlines can you hear the tower communications

  • @diaairplanes United is a great airline --try their economy plus, I find it to be very spacious for long flights.

  • is that at LAX?

  • so everyone in the plane heard it?

  • hello, i was just reading comments......

No on United Airlines..... thay have Aduio Channels and on Channel 9 i think.... u can listin to the tower making Radio contact w/ the other planes.

  • Oh, so its only on the planes that have the personal music radio thing built into your armrest

  • Yes...... I love flying United...... but when i left from LAX to O' Hare...... I was flying UNITED 92...... and the plane that went down durring 9/11 was United 93

    SCARY!

  • "Position, hold" means taxi to the active runway and position aircraft for departure, but hold for tower clearance for takeoff.

  • nice vid i love the feel of a departing seven five seven especially during the nighttime hours when you can see the other aircraft with their lights

  • 6/5. Good filming and clear atc. Well Done.

  • I didn't think you were allowed to listen to atc conversations anymore

    great video

  • Great video. I love those early morning flights on United. I alsways listen to the conversations from the flight deck. Post more...Thanks.

  • good sunrise, not the best from my point of a camera's view but still good 4.9/5

  • hey nice video!! i loved it... 5/5, what seat or seat row were you sitting at?

  • This is a really cool video! Well done! Also, every time I've been on an airplane I love to record the landing's and takeoff's, and nobody even cares.

  • I love the sunrise!

  • Very nice. Well done.

  • wow cool video. Ive never been on a plane before. thanks for posting.

  • were there alot of people recording the take off?

  • I doubt it. I don't think too many other people are into this kind of thing. I am pretty sure I was the only one on the flight who was taking video.

  • really! Well thats cool.

  • question? I thought it was not permitted to have scanners or electronic devices on any aircraft? I been wanting to take a scanner on board for some time but didn't know how.

  • Nobody gave me a second look when I was recording with my camera. However, that is not a scanner you are listening to. I don't know if other airlines do this, but United has this feature in the radio channels, where when you listen to the radio in the arm rest, one of the channels is the control tower.

  • ive used my scanner, many, many , many times on flights recording for video. Havent had a problem yet, only have been told its "illegal" to take video. Which we all know is a bunch of b.s.

  • I used to always listen to them ever since i was a kid, but that was years ago, and can't seem to find any airlines who still have that option of listening... but i'm glad to hear that United still does.

  • Nice dave, Love it.

  • That was a great video.
