  • Very tasteful playing!

  • what's the tuning?

  • This is beautiful.

  • not much of a slide player my ass!

  • Very, very pretty!

  • Way to Go Luke! Love the sound you've got. Which tuning are you in on this video?

  • @Ownership07 StewMac has one, I think they're pretty standard. I think the advantage is that you can always take it off if you want to play regular later on.

  • Fantaaanstic

  • Great!

  • I am dying to know what song this is. Can someone please tell me? Thanks a bunch!!!

  • @YoouToober im pretty sure his just having abit of a play.

  • I love watching your videos, especially the blues and Danelectro ones. I'm thinking about getting a 56 Pro that's similar to this guitar - is the access to the high frets really as bad as people say? Thanks in advance :)

  • Fabulous. Simple, rooted, perfectly executed. Ry Cooder would be proud of you.

  • There is something about your style, man. I love it! I can definitely hear a David Gilmour influence in there. As well as Jimmy Page.

  • This is the best video on YouTube.

  • Very soothing and well played. Thank you

  • Speed this up, add some overdrive and you've got some BA Dano music.

  • great clean tone. smooth playing.

  • Very nice indeed. There aren't enough slide players if you ask me.

  • hermoso

  • lovely tone, and tune for that matter. may i ask what amp you are playing through?

    thankyou for this. quite nice.

  • Nice tune, sounds pretty cool.

Got one question for you, do you know David Lindley, do you know his music and work? He`s one of my favourite players.

  • by the way, anyone who doesn't want to do a permanent mod on their guitar. you can get extension nuts that place over the original nut itself so can be removed. again, great vid.

  • i've just bought a dano for slide myself. thanks for the inspiration. well and truly.

  • is it an original or re-issue?>

  • I use a brass slide too! Sometimes you don't need glass for the sweetest tones!

  • Absolutely wonderful playing, and tone, and so very very tasteful. Youtube has hope yet.

  • hahaha sometimes the simpler slide is the best slide , well done love it

  • 'not that much of a slide player' ...right...

That is simply the sweetest slide sound I've heard in a long while. What is the tune? One of yours?

You've inspired me to get my slide out and start playing again. Thanks for an excellent piece of musicianship!

  • Hi. I love this video. Could you give me an advice about some music that sounds like that to listen to ( by the way i bought a danelectro u2 partially because of this vid which is amazing) cheers

  • chiilin` :)

  • great man! gentle touch...

  • I think you were a great slide player.

  • Just Beauuuutiful sounding!

  • nice thanks for sharing

  • Very cool little piece of music ! I really like it ! Peaceful and very musical !

  • Nice, you can easily get a fretting and slide action on a Dano. Use very thick strings 16-50 or something then action will raise automaticly, you can also adjust more info ong IGS international guitarseminars webpage:

    guitarseminars

  • beautiful

  • That guitar sounds absolutely beautiful man! And your right hand finger coordination is off the wall! Nice video.

  • still loving this video, just bought an extension nut for my Dano, fretting is a pain but I guess that'll make me try harder with the slide!

  • hey man if your ever in maryland we should jam

  • This is Beautiful :-)

  • Yep it sounds great.

  • Jimmy Page is obliged to play sit White Summer/Black Mountain Side because of his Danelectro '59 bridge and replaced it by a badass one

  • Wow, this is the shit.

I try my best to do miniscule slide licks.

    But you've got everything down.

  • what tones are you using?

    how much reverb?

    how much bass?

    how much mid?

    how much treble?

a stupid question, I know, I just love this tone.

  • would you mind saying what kind of amp you are using? your tone is AMAZING!

  • Not much of a slide player? You fooled me. That is SWEET playing and the tone is delicious.

  • what tuning are you in?

  • sounds like open g

  • cool man, enjoyable! The thing I like about your videos (except the video itself) is how cordially everybody is acting in the comment section. Rare thing in Youtube, sadly.

  • @Jan73463 I feel excactly the same way, theres kinda a rude tone around youtube on most guitar videos, so its really nice just to enjoy the music and read all the nice comments. And sorry for my bad english.

  • wow I have to buy a dc

  • Dana's were MADE for slide

  • what tuning is this ? great vid !

  • Geniuss!!

  • thats the best two minutes ive spent in a long time! just great slide, ive never really heard one used that way. You usually hear them for solos only. Great harmonic and slide at 57-60 seconds or so!! love it!

  • hello, i am thinking of doing the same with my 63 dano, is it hard to fret the notes with the extension nut. like push down and use your fingers?

  • Well, actually you can't fret at all, the strings are way to high off the fretboard. but I guess you could also have a new nut made that would be somewhere between the original and the extension nut.

  • @lukecyrus they make different nuts that you can fret with, but the nut extender he's using is just for slide only. there are several nut extenders on ebay that will alowe fretting.

  • add some overdrive and harder playing and you have some real stuff but cool, even though im not really a blues enjoyer

  • hello friend, What tuning is this? have the tablature?

  • ...oh and now I have a Keen green Danelectro Pro.

The nut kinda wanks the tuning. I'll sand it down and hope. Sounds fabulous though.

    Thanks.

  • I come back to this vid because it's just so wicked. Who the heck am I to tell ya that you play fine?. heh, heh.

    You play Fantastic !

Know any Tom Waits ? heh, heh.

    Way to go Buddy.

    BB.

  • you can play!

    great

  • I found one of these at a thrift store for $40 the people there thought it was a toy

  • wow that was beautiful, I really wana learn how to play with a slide now. Great job!

  • You play slide fine Buddy. I love that chilled out vibe, nice touch. Intelligent player, I really enjoyed that.

I am trying to find a Keen Green DanElectro '59 or Pro, can't decide.

    Really cool.

    Good luck Man.

    BB.

  • Add a little vibrato when you let a note or a chord ring and it'll sound perfect. Nice vid :-)

  • is this a baritone?

  • Unlike any 'guitar demo" video i've ever seen. instead of tons of talking a fast shredding - this is beautiful. I would listen to this on my ipod. :)

  • great playing man! and i would also like to know the tuning please.

  • what the tuning?

  • Open G

  • God i hate being fifteen and being lefty its like imposible for me to find a Danelectro lefty and when i do i have no money for it :( , good video five *'s

  • well! do like jimmy hendrix reverse da strings da opposite and da humbucks if u get this guitar hit me back! and tell me? wat u? think?

  • Oh just pull a Duane Allman and even though your lefty play right handed:)

  • Easily done. You'll need: a Dano DC59, a left handed nut made (I *think* you can reverse a Dano nut) - and away you go. Re-string upside down a la Hendrix and just live with the control position.....

  • Appreciate this vid. Ive been looking for a guitar to put in open g for slide so i dont have to tune from open e to g on my regular guitar. I think i've found what i want.

  • Really hard to do this on a Dano!!

    Great playing!!

  • like the way you control the dynamics..

    also the facial expressions! haha

    subscribed!

  • That harmonic on the 12th fret and the slide up at .59 ... never heard it before, totally stealing it. Fantastic sound.

    Danelectros for life. Haha.

  • really nice playing and a beautiful guitar.

can anybody tell me what danelectro calls this colour and whether the current re-issue model is available in this finish? it looks great!

  • very good. is that all just improv? it's awesome.

  • u should do more with the slide bro... really, this is my favorite video from you now

  • i like what you've done with the Dano...alot.

you are a truly excellent player. crisp and clean, nice.

  • what about your sound equipment... ampli and cables??? you play very cool

  • what tuning is that?

  • beautiful,

is that an open G tuning ? If not, what is it ???!!

  • No puedo creer q esa guitrra valga 200 euros!!!!!! .Mañana compro una igual!!!!!

  • DANELECTRO RULES!!!!!!!!!!

  • kinda ry cooder like

    i love it!

  • This is brilliant! What tuning are you using?

  • that is sweet

  • God, the sounds you get from this guitar are spine-tingling! Thank you for this video! WOW!

  • great guitar! is it a true vintage or a reissue? how much have spent for this model? I'm looking for a u2 too.

    bye

  • what tuning are u in? sounds great by the way.

  • Excelente!!!

  • nice

  • I can watch it over and over again,

  • Nice sounds man.

Have you ever tried that extension nut thing on an acoustic? Is it harsh on the neck? Does it come on and off easy? Cause i play slide every now and then, not enough to dedicate my guitar's set up to it, you know?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    -Barrett

  • Sure! It works fine, you just loosen the strings and slide it over the original nut. It's not harsh on the neck at all, but it does leave little marks if you're not careful putting it on

  • This is very beautiful

  • man you just made sweet gentle love with your guitar. that was really nice. for someone who isnt much of a slide player, you got some good chops.

  • ha not much of a slide player?? its perfect!

  • really nice sounds.

  • Considering your not much of a slide player, as you put it, your not half bad mate

  • you're right, danelectro seems to be born for slidin'

  • It's a standard open G, with an added low C.

  • awesome awesome tone.

  • que embole boludo !

  • That sounds great - I really love the sound you're gettting - fantastic song/tune too....

  • gave me the chills...gave me a Stones with Mick Taylor kinda sound!

  • This is so good. I'm looking for a new guitar. I still have my first....which isn't the best. Ibanez Gax70 =/

I've been looking at a few Danelectro's and have been told by many ppl that the bridge on the electro sucks. What's your proffesional opinion? on both the bridge and a new guitar for me?

  • I had a luthier make a compensated bridge for this one, so the intonatione is great! I haven't really played any of the reissue danos, the one I'm playing in the vid is from the 50s, and they sound quite different.

  • i've got the same guitar and i love it so much. the tune you are plaing is getting me realy mellow

    :)

  • dude are u in a band?

  • gorgeous

  • nice n mellow

  • I asume, and I believe I even see that you've raised them strings a bit, how did you do that exactly? - by the way - you've got serios skillz!!

  • Thanks man. What I used, was an extension nut. You just stick it over the original nut. That's it.

  • nice playing and tone, very relaxing. how do you like the the mesa subway blues amp?

I am considering picking one up but I have heard about some problems with hum on them.

  • I love the Mesa, but I also had to invest a pretty penny in getting the hum fixed. The newer ones supposedly don't have that problem...

  • Very nice touch to your playing. I've checked a few of your videos and have been impressed by them all. Great tone too.

  • thats ry cooder good

  • Beautiful!

  • What tune are you using?

  • It's open G plus a low C

  • flawless, beautiful!

trying so hard to get a danelectro right now.

  • This guy is mint, is that open g?

  • Sounds beautiful my friend.

Is that Danelectro U2 a reissue or original?

    I'm looking into getting a used 90's 1956 reissue.

  • Thanks alot!

    That one's an original.

    Cheers!

  • Oh my god. You sound like Ry Cooder but better. Thus, you are my god!!! Seriously though, that is some of the best slide tone, both in terms of your precision/dynamics and whats coming out your amp, that I've heard ever... Kinda makes me wanna go try out a Danelectro. Im looking forward to more vids showcasing your guitars! What else have you got?

  • wow, that's quite the compliment! Thanks!
