@Ownership07 StewMac has one, I think they're pretty standard. I think the advantage is that you can always take it off if you want to play regular later on.
I love watching your videos, especially the blues and Danelectro ones. I'm thinking about getting a 56 Pro that's similar to this guitar - is the access to the high frets really as bad as people say? Thanks in advance :)
by the way, anyone who doesn't want to do a permanent mod on their guitar. you can get extension nuts that place over the original nut itself so can be removed. again, great vid.
Hi. I love this video. Could you give me an advice about some music that sounds like that to listen to ( by the way i bought a danelectro u2 partially because of this vid which is amazing) cheers
Nice, you can easily get a fretting and slide action on a Dano. Use very thick strings 16-50 or something then action will raise automaticly, you can also adjust more info ong IGS international guitarseminars webpage:
cool man, enjoyable! The thing I like about your videos (except the video itself) is how cordially everybody is acting in the comment section. Rare thing in Youtube, sadly.
@Jan73463 I feel excactly the same way, theres kinda a rude tone around youtube on most guitar videos, so its really nice just to enjoy the music and read all the nice comments. And sorry for my bad english.
thats the best two minutes ive spent in a long time! just great slide, ive never really heard one used that way. You usually hear them for solos only. Great harmonic and slide at 57-60 seconds or so!! love it!
Well, actually you can't fret at all, the strings are way to high off the fretboard. but I guess you could also have a new nut made that would be somewhere between the original and the extension nut.
@lukecyrus they make different nuts that you can fret with, but the nut extender he's using is just for slide only. there are several nut extenders on ebay that will alowe fretting.
God i hate being fifteen and being lefty its like imposible for me to find a Danelectro lefty and when i do i have no money for it :( , good video five *'s
Easily done. You'll need: a Dano DC59, a left handed nut made (I *think* you can reverse a Dano nut) - and away you go. Re-string upside down a la Hendrix and just live with the control position.....
Appreciate this vid. Ive been looking for a guitar to put in open g for slide so i dont have to tune from open e to g on my regular guitar. I think i've found what i want.
Have you ever tried that extension nut thing on an acoustic? Is it harsh on the neck? Does it come on and off easy? Cause i play slide every now and then, not enough to dedicate my guitar's set up to it, you know?
Sure! It works fine, you just loosen the strings and slide it over the original nut. It's not harsh on the neck at all, but it does leave little marks if you're not careful putting it on
This is so good. I'm looking for a new guitar. I still have my first....which isn't the best. Ibanez Gax70 =/
I've been looking at a few Danelectro's and have been told by many ppl that the bridge on the electro sucks. What's your proffesional opinion? on both the bridge and a new guitar for me?
I had a luthier make a compensated bridge for this one, so the intonatione is great! I haven't really played any of the reissue danos, the one I'm playing in the vid is from the 50s, and they sound quite different.
Oh my god. You sound like Ry Cooder but better. Thus, you are my god!!! Seriously though, that is some of the best slide tone, both in terms of your precision/dynamics and whats coming out your amp, that I've heard ever... Kinda makes me wanna go try out a Danelectro. Im looking forward to more vids showcasing your guitars! What else have you got?
