  • Hey! Don't mind i ask where can i get the 3D max studio software for free? where do you download it?

  • @MissOhrange9two U can download it for free if u have .edu email

  • Cool tutorial.

What's the best way to make rope wrap around an object?

  • Hello, i can't do it work, the bridge falled. The vertices are all right, what i am doing wrong?

    Thank you.

  • How Can I get the constraints settings of the rope? TX

  • @BogStarProductions Check out the tutorial about 'Reactor rope', also made by visualknights.

  • my rope is too thick how do i change it?

  • @locksandgreen Check out the Creating reactor rope tutorial.

around 4:10 are rope options explained. There you can set a tickness.

  • Hey please I have a question It isn't about reactor

    it's physx sdk engine

could you help me how to load Physx sdk engine into 3d max

I have installed and did every thing but how to load it into 3d max :(

  • @gtagtagtagtag: With SDK you mean the developer tools for PhysX or the actual plugin that is supported by 3ds max? You can download the plugin via nVidia after creating an account. You can then put this plugin inside the plugin folder of your 3d max folder.

  • @VisualKnights Thank you very much :)

    Greetings from Egypt

  • this was very helpful thanks

  • i have a qeustion, i want to attach a cloth to like.. air? if that------> |__| is the cloth, i want to attach the upper side to the air like its a curtain.

do you know how to do that? (sorry for my english) thanks.

  • @linkspecialproximity If you want the cloth attached to an invisble object (like air), you can either use a 'Dummy' or you can hide the object you are using. For instance: you create an object (a cube or sphere) that the cloth uses to hang on to. Ones the cloth is working correctly, you can go to the properties (right mouse button) of the object and select "Hide". This way the colth is attached to the object in the air but it is not visible in your scene or when you render it. Good luck! :D

  • @VisualKnights Thank you!

that was verry helpfull, but i still dont know how to attach it to a dummy XD

    do you know how to?

    Thanks again :)

  • I had alot of trouble with the preview- I realised- it must be on Havok 1 not 3

  • Very Good video! I was looking for this effect for a 2 days... Thanks!

  • @Nicklezg Glad it helped. I couldn't find any tutorials on this, so I decided to research it and make the tutorial myself.

  • @applecorp1 : Check out the Creating rope tutorial.

around 4:10 are rope options explaind. There you can set a tickness and make the rope a contraint instead of a spring.

  • @VisualKnights ok thanks, now all i need is to figure out how to deform a triangle into a ramp, o even make a triangle xD

  • would it be possible to make my name falling on it?

  • @applecorp1 Ofcourse. Use a text object.

  • @VisualKnights ok thanks but now im having a problem, the rope bridge is all connected but it falls through the two outside blocks is that a vertise problem?

  • @applecorp1 There can be many reasons: 1. the walls/sides need to be rigid bodies. 2. You haven't attached a vertex to one wall. 3. The rope is not inside the wall.

  • @VisualKnights k ill try fixing it,

  • thank you for the tutorial. can you explain how you could get the bridge to interact with say a car driving on it or biped walking over it?

  • It is not the easiest thing to do but it is possible. I have made a tutorial about a reactor car but that is not really the thing you need for your car. Your car would require a motor, so that the car has a constant velocity and tries to move itself over the bridge. The biped is in my opinion even harder. You deffinetly want to use footstep mode for this. Link every footstep to a stepping plates and let the walking animation create itself. The animation of the bridge has to be made before this.

  • how do u get that second menu? the one under the undo buttons.

  • right mouse button on the tool bar (gizmo's etc) en then you can select the reactor toolbar. You might have to drag the toolbar in a different position.

  • @VisualKnights thank you!!

  • Nice tutorial!

  • thanks.

  • Great tutorial. Thank you.

How could you stop the boxes from moving (shaking better to say) before other objects hit them? I know a way would be to delete all the keyframes of those boxes before other objects hit them (after creating the animation and ), but do you know another way around it?

    Thanks again. :)

  • What you is, go to reactor preview, wait for the boxes to stop moving. click on update max in the last menu of the reactor preview. then the 3d max scene gets updated and the bridge parts don't move.

  • Thank you! You're great :)

    I'll try that later on.

  • Nevermind, I just found out.

  • My UI doesn't look like that, can't find the rigid body collection anywhere.

  • There is one way to go to Create>Helpers>Reaactor.

Or an more easier way go up on the panel where are the options..

Edit ; Tools : Group; etc.

and there will be customize click on it and there will be a button "Show UI >"

click it and click on "Show Floating Toolbars". then a bunch of toolbars will appear and close those what you dont need and somewhere between them will be the reactor toolbar...

    Cheers!

  • very good tutorial

instead of ohter tutorials your voice is very clear

    I can understand evrything

  • thank you very much. I spend a lot of time trying to get a good voice quality. Actually this movie has a not so good voice quallity.
