This is fantastic. I signed the petition and I am sending it around. Thanks for this! I am looking into the acu for my allergies. I think they can come to me, but she is doubtful it will help my particular Endo issues. I have always thought it would still work wonders for stress relief as well as much much more.
Glad there's such a positive reaction to Endo Awareness Month and everything that you're doing to get the word out. It's sure gonna be quiet when March is over! Maybe April should be Acupuncture Awareness Month ;-)
You always crack me up! :) Well, one thing is for sure... March has kept us all busy! The way I look at it, though, is that awareness needs to take place 365 days/year. So we may catch our breath in March briefly but then it'll be full steam ahead on pursuing Meredith Vieira for Today Show coverage of endo. (Except maybe after we give my blog xfer some little baby pushes. :) :) You are TOO funny!
Thanks for the comment!! The more feedback, the better!
I think its important for patients to make informed choices regarding medical care... whether they are using TWM, alt. med., or both. When my Jan '08 surgery didn't go as planned, it was my acupuncturist who helped me when NO ONE else was able to. For me personally, integrative medicine is most effective. I take the best of both worlds the best that TWM has to offer and the best of alternative medicine. Thank you for your comment! I appreciate it. :)
Part 3... There have been plenty of drugs that were FDA approved as safe before being pulled off the market at a later time. FDA approval does not guarantee safety at all. (Ive learned the hard way - w/permanent nerve damage caused by an Rx taken exactly as prescribed by my Dr. - that my body just couldnt handle). Also, doctors are certainly capable of making mistakes. (I know because Ive been the recipient on occasion over the years). [To be cont'd...]
Part 2... Drugs & surgery have their place but there are so many other options from which to choose. Plus, for some people drugs & surgery are not effective (or not effective enough). Unfortunately, the Western culture outlook for many years was that anything other than TWM was somehow considered less safe. (That's changing. More & more, alt. medicine is gaining acceptance. Even health insurance is covering more alt. med. than previously). [To be cont'd...]
Part 1... willocat, Thanks! Sorry it didn't work out for you. Has helped me SO much & I know so many other people that it has helped too! As far as alt. therapies being safe, I've found (personal experience & talking w/many others re: their exper.) that numerous alt. therapies are at least as safe as Traditional Western Medicine (TWM) methods (i.e. drugs & surgery). [To be cont'd... running out of space]
Jeanne - Great vlog! I wish I could do accupuncture. It sounds like it's really helped you. Glad it has. I'm big on alternative therapies as long as they are safe. And I'm almost willing to try anything, you know, as long as it doesn't make me pass out. Just couldn't handle accupuncture - my system didn't like it :-(
Yes, I don't know where I would be in life right now without acupuncture. I'm actually going every week right now during fertility treatment and adoption process. I need it.
I started going last year after my miscarriage on a whim. Both you and my mom claimed it was wonderful so I finally gave up my fear of needles and said I was willing to try anything. So glad I did. It changed my life. Seriously. I know it sounds weird. But my entire mood and spirit to life shifted.
