  • Need help. How can you use oil to transfer heat to well insulated rocks so those rocks can stay hot enough to boil water all night?

  • Oh good!

Wondering how it will run in midday in summer!

I keep an eye on you ;)

    R.

  • GReat job. Paint your hot part of the engine in matt black. It will icrease warmth of it :))

  • Bloody awesome job mate...never thought of using old radar dish !!!

  • Did you use Mylar?

  • No, it's ordinary kitchen foil, 12 segments glued-on with craft cement - the aerosol spray stuff. Quick test only!

  • James, I've built dark curtains and heat reflectors from tin foil and book plastic, the stuff that is used to cover school books. It makes the tin foil durable and easy to handle.

  • Wow, great work. Timing the water boiling thing should give you some measure of power input--can you measure the output to check efficiency?

  • OMG you have been busy in that shed! Ahhhhhhhh! it's awesome! I am just finding the mirror glass now for my first rig on small motor.

  • Be careful: sunlight this concentrated can give serious burns, and cause sunburn in seconds! Protect hands and eyes.

  • I take the opportunity to be the first one who comments, it is very nice. How did you build the pistones?
