Personally i think that when he turns his head to hover the cam left to right, it moves far too fast, needs to be more smooth i guess. But great mod! well done!
that was awesome i was actually trying to make something like that, not that smart tho but something simpler, i was trying to connect my head to a joystick for a plane game and yea....
It bugs me to no end why there arent any flying games out there at all, like wing commander, or crimson skies anymore. It's all simulators. I can't wait for them to come out with a game like battle star gallactica or other.
HAHHAHA wow that's a lot of work and a pretty combination of simple/complicated method, wii head tracking is a lot better and promising, but it's still nice hehe
guys, its not that hard! your eyes are not "fixed" into your sockets. he is making a similar product that allready exists in the market place. you dont look 90 degrees left, or right (cause then you WONT be looking at the screen or monitor) this allows simulated head movement with only a few degrees of actual head movment. (maybe one inch at max from centerline)
go to the NATURALPOINT website for TRACK-IR videos of how head tracking works.
I doesn't work does it?! When you turn in either direction, you're looking away from the screen, so you got to view the screen through the corner of your eye.
Shure, but as explained in the video comment, this was just a first test, to check that tracking works ok with Test Drive. The goal is to use it with my HMD.
Dude, if you had a pair of VR Goggles, that would be so bad-azz! I don't think the PS2 can show stereo vision, but at least you'd be able to look around well driving. There are several inexpensive, head-mounted, video systems you could use that would work for less then $300. So the lack of stereo vision could actually save you a fortune.
The video shows a beta test. This DIY unit is to be installed on the back of my DIY HMD for a good realistic use.(look at my other videos about my HMD ;)
If that aint the goofiest thing i've ever seen, However its a damn good thaught into it. If you could find a way to make it less sensitive that would probably make it that much better. Unless you think its not. It all depends on the person using I would think.
Puppypuncher07: very nice language here. FYI nothing I build is fake, but your education may be fake...

If you hooked up the PS2 to some Video glasses instead of your TV you'd pretty much get the VR experience, well at least it seems like you would.

Very neat, if cumbersome. Might look even better if you had the aspect ratio correct on the telly.
