  • Good job you guys!

  • Way to tear it up crossfit! That's how I keep the training: practical and functional.

  • U guys ROCK

  • Good to know. Thanks for the explanation.

  • Its called a kipping pull-up. Think of it this way. A dead hang uses "100 points of energy". But in your workout, you do lets say 3 sets of ten. Which will amount to 3000 points for your workout. Now a kipping pullup, which has different mechanics, uses lets say "75 points of energy". Do a 100 of those, and you've burned 7500 points of energy. Which one taxed your muscles more?

Don't be fooled by the "swing". There are added components that make that pullup more difficult in skill.

  • Can they do the 100 without swinging?? Seems kind of useless to do the swing.

  • @dez04 Yeah don't be fooled by the "swing". The swing is actually a controlled core movement, that when performed correctly will work both your back AND core muscles using only a pull-up.

Look at gymnasts for example, they are masters of this "kipping" move. Last time I checked, world class gymnasts had some of the most muscular and strong upper bodies of anyone around...
