I believe whats more important yet a worse reputation is the passing rate for the USCQ Deck exam that occurred last year. If i am not mistaken, 16% at the first go around? The reason we go to Maritime is for the license, yet everyone is more concerned about this film that took place on our campus rather then the fact that the education system is failing.
@mfree00 I guess that means 16% of the deckies felt like studyn. Our school will help prepare you for the license exam, not guarantee you to pass. Its up to the student to prepare themselves for a test. The biggest benefit of our school is a relatively cheap education, that gives you all of the physical requirements to sit for license. If you study and actually know what your doing youl pass. Id rather 16% pass than 16% fail. This leads to more competent graduates, n a better reputation
This is completely irresponsible of the production company, and neglect on the school's side. It is ridiculous the level of incompetence from this movie and all it's associates. It has come to my attention there have been a number of web postings on various sites about an independent film that was partially shot during a two week period in July, 2010, on the SUNY Maritime campus.
The production company responsible for the film paid for time and access to designated sites on the Maritime campus. When filming began, Maritime staff was told by the production company the storyline for the film centered around a “military style” high school for boys – the full story line of the film was not revealed at the outset of the production when the contract was signed. Not all location filming for the film took place on the Maritime campus.
I will personally approve any and all new requests from commercial film, television and still photography companies from this point forward. As with any such commercial or private film, television production or other commercial vehicle, the views, opinions, commentaries and scenes depicted are those solely of that enterprise and are not those of SUNY Maritime College.

I think that with the original lines being the same makes it so much better. Yes, it may star two men, but seriously romeo and juliet is a timeless tale of love and it in a way leaves gender out of it... gender isnt important when it comes to love. its emotional ties to that person. Either way I am excited to see this and review it. Movies like this make being "different" ok because the actors who do this are fearless and are trying to change the world. A critic (don't remember which one sorry) gave it 3 1/2 stars out of 4, and a company called WOLFE VIDEO has acquired rights to the film and it WILL be getting a fall 2011 theatrical release in the United States. :)
I hope that this trailer does not show the only two kissing scenes in the movie, because Matt and Seth really know how to make look believable, compared to the intimacy in typical US "gay-themed" films.

The book is not about two gay men falling in love in the Victorian manner, it's a satirical story that presents the plot and characters in seriousness but cleverly mocking them by telling the ridiculousness of their tales. Please do some research first before coming up with another juvenile counter argument, at least have some patience remembering the book's title.

Yes this is on the cadets themselves to study for the exam but how are they pushed through and allowed to even sit for the exam? This percentage rate used to be at 100... The purpose of the school is to get the liscense.

I respect the fact that everyone has the right to their own opinions as well as the freedom to share them. I believe whats more important yet a worse reputation is the passing rate for the USCQ Deck exam that occurred last year. If i am not mistaken, 16% at the first go around? The reason we go to Maritime is for the license, yet everyone is more concerned about this film that took place on our campus rather then the fact that the education system is failing.

@mfree00 I guess that means 16% of the deckies felt like studyn. Our school will help prepare you for the license exam, not guarantee you to pass. Its up to the student to prepare themselves for a test. The biggest benefit of our school is a relatively cheap education, that gives you all of the physical requirements to sit for license. If you study and actually know what your doing youl pass. Id rather 16% pass than 16% fail. This leads to more competent graduates, n a better reputation

This is completely irresponsible of the production company, and neglect on the school's side. It is ridiculous the level of incompetence from this movie and all it's associates. To not have the foresight of understanding consequences shows not only a lack of basic understanding of humanity, but a general egotism too common amongst this genre of film.

It has come to my attention there have been a number of web postings on various sites about an independent film that was partially shot during a two week period in July, 2010, on the SUNY Maritime campus.

When filming began, Maritime staff was told by the production company the storyline for the film centered around a “military style” high school for boys – the full story line of the film was not revealed at the outset of the production when the contract was signed. Not all location filming for the film took place on the Maritime campus.

I think that with the original lines being the same makes it so much better. Yes, it may star two men, but seriously romeo and juliet is a timeless tale of love and it in a way leaves gender out of it... gender isnt important when it comes to love. its emotional ties to that person. Either way I am excited to see this and review it. Movies like this make being "different" ok because the actors who do this are fearless and are trying to change the world. Love it and cant wait to see it!

A movie of truly staggering awfulness. (Saw it in LA) Lame, stupid, badly acted, horribly lit, idiotically conceived and mindless, it is not even up to high school standards. The movie is an embarrassment to the gay community, or ANY community for that matter. It makes NO SENSE, the language is SLAUGHTERED, the writer has no idea how to construct a screenplay, and direction is non-existent. A mess. Just reeks of talentlessness, all across the board.

@JackFknTwist1 As far as I know and has been reported on their official Facebook, it has been received really well so far. A critic (don't remember which one sorry) gave it 3 1/2 stars out of 4, and a company called WOLFE VIDEO has acquired rights to the film and it WILL be getting a fall 2011 theatrical release in the United States. :)
