it was my birthday yesterday and i got my first crested gecko i name him zap! i left him to sleep yesterday but today he is very active and he is calm and lets me pick him up, i hope to get more cresties in time. nice video btw and is he/she yours?!
@stolenmilkcrate did you see the article in Ranger Rick about the leaf tailed gecko? It was pretty cute (I myself don't read the magazine but my baby brother does) if not I can send it to you if you want to check it out. Thanks!
Wow, do the Gatorbellies always move so slowly? Hard to imagine they would evade being someones dinner in the wild. But then, chameleons move at a snails pace, but we seem to have plenty of those around. Hmm. What is their natural defence, I wonder?
@ShvrBug They can get a move on when they're frightened, and they can jump quite well for the incredibly stubby-looking legs they have. The males also may exude a smelly fluid in defense, though I haven't encountered that yet.
yes! YES!! i've been waiting over a year for someone to post a decent video on this species, especially a feeding vid. THANKYOU! these are some of my favorite geckos, and there's barely a handful of videos out there, so every second helps. I hope to get a pair of these guys somewhere in the future. Your photos of Mr. & Mrs. Gatorbelly remain the best online. Maybe you could sell some prints on your devianart page?..I know I would buy! always great videos, and superb website!Keep up the good work
@microiguana Gosh! Thanks for the stamp of approval :) While I don't have prints right now, there are some new pics up on the Geckos & other Lizards subforum on pangeareptile's forum that I just posted today :)
@gekkoguy911 Lol it's OK... I get confused by the scientific names a lot too... and to be honest until you see the size comparison these guys can look similar. But Waffles is near 12 inches long, and this guy is... maybe... 3. :)
I don't no if u noticed but agricolae in Latin means farmers and what are the proper names for that species of gecko?
TheCombatcookie 5 months ago
@TheCombatcookie Yes, I know - they are sometimes called "Bauer's chameleon gecko" but most people just refer to them in the latin
