@drmaclynch1 I have two suggestions. The first is to inspect the dryer's wiring. The wiring diagram for most Maytags are either on the back or the inside of the dryer. Follow the wires and carefully inspect them for signs of being worn out, loose connections. You can also test the dryer's "Signal On/Off" button. Turn it off and then on again. It may be stuck. If you need more detailed information then please let us know your dryer’s model number. I will also email you this information.
the "buzzer" on my maytag centennial dryer cycles on and off over and over. I have checked the vent line and it is clear with only minimal bends> any ideas?
@derek94gt - We have a troubleshooting videos about why dryers won't dry clothes that I will email to you. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
@Dizzylizzyscreations It depends on the make and model of the dryer. Generally most electric and gas dryers have a thermal fuse - used in controling the dryer's heating source. There are some brands of Whirlpool gas built dryers use a thermal device commonly called the thermal ‘cut off’ instead of the thermal ‘fuse’. If you want to let me know your dryer’s model number I can tell you if your dryer needs a thermal fuse of a thermal cut off. I’ve emailed you this information.
@amd2623 - a blown thermal fuse could be the culprit, but there are a couple of other reasons why it may not be starting as well. I've sent you the link of common problems and how to test for them in a direct message.
@fluxtablett What kind of symptoms are your experiencing with your dryer? If it's not turning on or not getting hot, the thermal fuse can often be to blame. You can test your fuse for continuity with a multimeter. If you need more help, just let us know.

I can hear the timer ticking when I press the start button but it doesn't start. Does this sound like a common presentation for a blown thermal fuse?

How can you tell whether the fuse is broken or not?
