@cliffburton333 I tried to figure it out for a long long time, and when I got it by watching, listening and reproducing the differences between 2 and 3 fingers sound, it took me even more time to convince people about the fact that harris plays with 2... :D

@Fran666 He doens't always play with two: sometimes in some arpeggios he uses three fingers (e.g. Revelations' intro part) to give an effect that with two wouldn't be the same.

While I sometimes question whether Janicks guitar is even on with the amount of dancing around and stuff that he does, it does prove that Maiden is a real class act for keeping him on board after Adrian returned. All the Maiden guys seem like real good guys.
Using the "hook" (one finger, it's just to quote The Late James Jamerson, if someone don't get it) or the walking technique or going with three or more fingers, it depends a lot on what you really want to come out from your bass, on what rhythmic figures you play and how you want them to sound; however, it seems Jaco once said he spent a life learning to play with three fingers, until he found out he could do the same things with two :-)
Having those three amazing guitar players and having that bass-god and having those drumming skills and having that stunnishing frontman with that mind-blowing voice, should be enough to declare them the masters of the world!!!

I played in a metal band in the early 80s that did a lot of maiden ,I never used 3 fingers to play any of it you can gallop with 2, Billy Sheehan , Victor Wooton and guys who do a lot of tapping use 3 but not Steve Harris.
This has been one of my favorite bands since 1982 and this is the first time I've heard any of their voices (other than Bruce, of course). What a cool piece of footage.

I've loved this band since in 2000 I bought a new tape of brave new world. I'm 21 now and I still love their music as much as I did when I heard them for the first time. They had millions of fans before me and they'll have millions of new ones 20 years from now.

I perfected my style of playing bass from watching and listening to Steve. I sometimes had said that he was my bass teacher. Only because back in 82. I got ahold of "Killers" and would not stop until I could play every song on that album. I saw early on that Steve played with 2 fingers so I did. I cannot play any other way. The other two fingers just get in the way. LOL
It is just that when he is moving his two fingers fast. The other to move also and give the look of all of them going.
TO EVERYONE SHOULD BE OUT OF IRON MAIDEN LISTEN UP: i am still waiting for a legit reason he should be out. everyone is still in because they are pretty much best friends, and they love the music they are playing. janick is no exception. they dont care about the fuckin money fame or shit, they like to HAVE FUN.
It doesn't matter how you pick as long as you can hit the notes on time with the right dynamics. Steve pulls it off with the two finger picking, some use the "box" technique, but three is necesary for guys like Billy Sheehan and Steve Digeorgio.

I played in a metal band in the early 80s that did a lot of maiden ,I never used 3 fingers to play any of it you can gallop with 2, Billy Sheehan , Victor Wooton and guys who do a lot of tapping use 3 but not Steve Harris.

I've loved this band since in 2000 I bought a new tape of brave new world. I'm 21 now and I still love their music as much as I did when I heard them for the first time. They had millions of fans before me and they'll have millions of new ones 20 years from now.
THAT's called IMMORTALITY.
And it's due to music and pasion not some MTV bullshit.

I perfected my style of playing bass from watching and listening to Steve. I sometimes had said that he was my bass teacher. Only because back in 82. I got ahold of "Killers" and would not stop until I could play every song on that album. I saw early on that Steve played with 2 fingers so I did. I cannot play any other way. The other two fingers just get in the way. LOL
It is just that when he is moving his two fingers fast. The other to move also and give the look of all of them going.

It doesn't matter how you pick as long as you can hit the notes on time with the right dynamics. Steve pulls it off with the two finger picking, some use the "box" technique, but three is necesary for guys like Billy Sheehan and Steve Digeorgio.
