i remember this game i was in 10th grade now im in 12th! i wish these two team were still in the same district, 2 of the best teams in west Texas!

Abilene High almost went to state the went deeper into the playoffs then Odessa did they got knocked out in the 3rd round! if they met this season id say we win! You can stop Ronnel and Herschel Sims and Jarvis Hunter! and our dfense is good too!

It's a shame that Abilene High and Odessa Permian are no longer in the same district. I'm going to miss those rivalries.

But for the most part teams from many states are better than these two in this tape. And my point is that every year there are different states with different teams that can beat each other regardless of collegiate players produced. I've seen teams from Pennsylvania that could beat Florida teams, Ohio beat Texas and visa versa, Iowa beat California, or Arizona that can beat Illinois teams ... whatever. It always changes. There is talent every year that is as good or better than West Texas.

Friday Night Lights was a heckuva book -- and inspired a number of high school football players -- but that doesn't mean -- like some people have been posting -- that these Texas teams are great. So what if they produce players? By the way -- what is that list exactly at Permian? Roy Williams AND ... The cool think about the book was reading about how tough a clearly undersized, under-talented team fought to be better than they really were. And of course Booby -- and the harsh realities.

I don't think the people who are complaining about the quality of play in West Texas really get it. Permian or Abilene or Brownwood or anybody like them could go 0-10 and still play before 20,000+ people. It's not a game, it's a cultural rite of passage. It's Friday Night in Texas for the best 17 weeks of the year.

And Friday Night Lights (the movie) sucked. Read the book. It will blow you away.
