I never heard the song by Darlene Love. An appropriate name for someone associated with such a tender and loving song. This is so innocently beautiful and tender. We all will experience a parting with our child in one form or another and whether or not it is by marriage - no matter the reason - we will still feel these same emotions - a palpable aching in every fiber of our being. Our child grown up and leaving us. Someone we love more than life itself and that day comes far too soon.

I still cry watching this movie....and the original 1951 film with Spencer Tracy. At the end, Dad dances with his wife (as in this film) to "Goodnight Sweetheart", not the doo-wop song, but the one written in 1931. I thought of "The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" as I watched my youngest daughter get ready for her wedding last August.  Can anyone loan me another young adult I can marry off?? I love weddings! Very cute video---thank you!
