  • Best PM we've ever had. Not like this corrupt bunch of trade unionists we now have choking the country.

  • @92right92 if only you actually knew the real truth, howard was the biggest freeloader PM ever riding off the coat tails of keating and hawke.

  • $9 Billion deficit. Howard & Costello removed this and ended up with a $20 billion surplus. Labour since 2007 have spend this and we are not back in debt. Don't vote for socialists.

  • @MrClassicist dear oh dear "facepalm", please educate yourself as to what really happened. Go and watch paul keating talk about the howard and costello myth about their economic credentials on another youtube video and enlighten yourself.

  • Thanks for uploading. I only saw a part of this when it was aired.

  • While Howard was a good politician he was the most uninspiring PM i think Australia has had. Whitlam, Fraser and Keating were the great forward thinking PMs

  • He was the best PM that we had ever had

  • He has been PM through all my childhood

  • John Howard was a champion of great cause for our great nation. He brought our deficit lower than ever with some great reforms.

  • you fucker john howard you sold out our country , led a generation on, now our generation only knows your pathetic ways. I hate you almost as much as Julia Gillard

  • hahaha typical Labor, leave the country in a mess; bankrupt the federal treasury

then liberal wins government and is left to clean up the mess and make the tough decisions to cut back spending so ALP and it's blind cronies sit back and point saying that Liberal just love to cut services because liberal 'thrives on ''torturing'' the underprivileged

    good ole Australian politics

  • wow this is the reason why i hate liberals/nationals. if they wern't so stuck up and little pricks you wanna backhand in the face then i would mind them so much. they are racist and if they had their way they would kill all aboriginal people.

i just lol at bush, that guy and his cronies single handedly fucked a nation for generations to come. he loaned trillions went to iraw FOR OIL went to afghanistan FOR OPIUM. yet he still sits there with that little look on his face - 'reliable'

  • I get to meet John Howard next week....cannot wait!!!

  • @swanie180 Please punch him for me.

  • Bring back John Howard I'd rather have work choices then what's coming if Abbot is elected. I see dark recession times ahead. Pre-pair now!

  • Look at it... God it's got a fat ugly, pompous looking mug, and every time it opens it's butt-kisser verbal poison dribbles out... ... ...

  • God downer is like a giggling school girl talking about the flag.

  • Yeah Chris Pyne... that "when you change the government you change the country" quote comes from Paul Keating. Typical Liberals always taking credit for PJK's work.

  • @Sastrawan i noticed even howards "my fellow australians" was stolen frmo bob

  • my fellow australians was stolen from bob? i very much doubt bob was the first one to say it as well.

  • politicians use quotes all the times and i very much doubt the keating quote was original either. it makes a point and that was why politicians of both parties say it

  • i actually find costello quite funny lol but i think Joe Hockey is a bit better in terms of speaking up

  • Fucking Costello, wet and gutless as ever. Petrified to put himself out there and speak his mind.

  • Well said "jampt1989". I'm a true believer so you'll never find me upset over the plight of the Liberal Party. However even I feel for Costello, to say he got screwed over is an understatement. In the end however its his own fault. Forger about 2006, in 1994 and 1995 when both Hewson and Downer left he was DEPUTY both times, and both times he cowered away from challenging for AN EMPTY POSITION. Tony Abbott once said his time never came; totally wrong. He was just never brave enough to seize it.

  • costello only entered parliament in 1990 and was far too inexperienced to have challenged for the leadership in 1994/5. there is this assumption that the 96 election was a walk in the park for the coalition. the fact is that an costello was wary of how having an inexperienced could lose "unloseable" elections like in 93.

when was the last time a politicians became pm with almost no experience? hawke in 83 and only because he had the entire union movement behind him.

  • As much as i can't stand Peter Costello, i did feel a bit sorry for him watching the Howard years. John Howard was such a prick to him. Having said that, Costello is totally without guts. I think Keating summed him up well, "He's all tip and no iceberg"

  • Oh selfish man

  • See resources from 'ABC Howard Years' official website.

You can see with your own eyes John Howard letter to Indonesian President Habibie in Dec 1998 in full support of Indonesian autonomy over East Timor and suggests an autonomy package to be implemented over time to deter the East Timorese from independence.

In the 'Howard Years' interviews he claims he wrote in support of East Timor independence.

    Lying through his teeth.

The ABC represents it as fact when they have the original letter

  • See Fool Me Twice for more details on the Howard government's lies surrounding the East Timor struggle for independence.

  • howard, and hawke, both the same, didnt matter which party, both didnt want to piss off our neighbours

  • Where is Beasley, Crean and Latham aunty? You have abused your power, don't let it happen again.

  • They weren't involved in the inner working of the Liberal Party and the doings of Little Johnnie. Why should they be in it?
