Give kid a plate of food. If kid refuses to eat it, the plate is put away and kid gets nothing to eat (Important step. Don't miss it.) until the next meal. At the next meal, offer kid the plate of food that it refused. If kid refuses, repeat. After a day or so, even the most stubborn little snot will it its food.
Stop cramming food down its gullet in the mean time!

There's a difference between hitting and hitting. A little slap on the butt or the fingers for doing something wrong is fairly acceptable, I think. A slap in the face or even hitting your kid hard is absolutely not helping at all.

I noticed how he kicked him when he was getting close to his mom. He's probably jealous of the baby, but even when he's punished everything they say to him just seems to go through one ear and out the other.
Anyone else disturbed that Andrew didn't shed a tear or even look that upset when he was punished? His only reaction seems to be anger. That bothers me.
I was placed in time out, not at home, but in school 20 years ago, even for minor offenses, and it lasted for the remainder of the school day. I suffered time out longer than the children seen on Supernanny. That was actually a poor idea. Those teachers were too strict on me at the time. They did not call to get me until the end of the school day, and I hardly got an education.
ADHD is tough, because whenever they get upset, they blow things out of proportion, and sometimes parents think, "oh, no. He/she is acting up." What you do is, in a calm tone, ask them, "what's the matter. Can you tell me what's the matter?" One time I did that to a kid with ADHD and he calmly explained that there was this boy who took his Transformer toy. I told the boy to give it back to him, which he did, and the kid felt better.
but it's amazing how quickly and sweetly he apologies when a more effective discipline is being enforced. Since he hasn't had anyone act towards him the way he acts toward everyone else, maybe the little boy simply just doesn't get how appalling and inappropriate his behavior really is.
I'm not fooled by that hug, he's just doing what he needs to do to get out of punishment. So he can go back to playing with his "Lil' Serial Killer" play kit.

1. Bashing Americans is not an international pastime. That's JUST as bad/generalising as the people you're criticising for bashing Americans! Still, you are open to being criticised for your country’s flaws, as is any country.
2. I don’t actually know anyone who's jealous of your so-called freedom and opportunity. I know I live in a country with a huge amount of equality and opportunity, but I still consider that a weak excuse for discarding very valid points about your country

@sarah4hp If you were an American, you might be a bit better qualified to judge whether the world bashes Americans at a rate higher than other countries. The simple fact that you have a YouTube account doesn't make you an expert in that regard. You proved my point with your #2 comment. "Very valid points about your country," eh? 1. I never said America is not criticized more than any other country. The mere fact that everyone knows about America, and that so much of American culture, television and so on is so widely spread makes it a much bigger target than most any other country on earth.
2. I NEVER claimed to be an expert, but that doesn't mean I don't know anything about your country.

@stayl1971 You have strangely made an incorrect blanket statement yourself by saying "it happens in every country". I can say from experience that in Nigeria they don't deal with these problems. Rebellious children are disciplined there, usually physically. They therefore learn their places quickly in that society, and all it takes often times is a stern look from an adult--any adult--to keep the child in line. They grow up respecting their elders.

And god help my child if they EVER acted like these monkeys. Mine are behaved, they do as they are told and respect their elders. Discipline is the ONLY answer

@stayl1971 Such rebellion in children generally doesn't exist in traditional cultures. It's only in Western countries (U.S., Australia, Germany, etc.) you see such rude, ungrateful, wild children. Western parents tolerate rebellion, while the rest of the world doesn't. And indeed, such rebellion was shocking only a century ago in the West.

I was placed in time out, not at home, but in school 20 years ago, even for minor offenses, and it lasted for the remainder of the school day. I suffered time out longer than the children seen on Supernanny. That was actually a poor idea. Those teachers were too strict on me at the time. They did not call to get me until the end of the school day, and I hardly got an education.

What you can do is, you can look for an opportunity to "hang tough."
If you think your kid is going to act badly, let him, then administer the discipline.
Too often, we give in so they won't get mad.

ADHD is tough, because whenever they get upset, they blow things out of proportion, and sometimes parents think, "oh, no. He/she is acting up." What you do is, in a calm tone, ask them, "what's the matter. Can you tell me what's the matter?" One time I did that to a kid with ADHD and he calmly explained that there was this boy who took his Transformer toy. I told the boy to give it back to him, which he did, and the kid felt better.

but it's amazing how quickly and sweetly he apologies when a more effective discipline is being enforced. Since he hasn't had anyone act towards him the way he acts toward everyone else, maybe the little boy simply just doesn't get how appalling and inappropriate his behavior really is.

I saw a kid in my building hit and kick his babysitter. She was just tolerating it. I knocked on the parents' door and told them they'd make him stop.

such adorable kids and lousy parents;that seems to remain consistent among this series. none of these parents appreciate their children or take the time to understand the root of the problem-right away they call for someone to try and quick fix the problem. the parents are always exhausted and overburdened-for gods sake dont have so many children if you cant be patient and take the time to nurture EACH individual child's needs. heart-breaking! boy has the baby as competition for parentsaffection

I knew kids that were like Andrew. They grew up to have major behavior problems when they were teenagers. It was all because the parents didn't set clear boundaries when they were little. Once they reach age 13, it's too late.
