  • "Keeper of the flame" and "Dance of the darkness" are my favourite songs on this album. And the solo of "Journeyman" is great.

  • @lw48wp4 I love the whole album but All The Fun of the Fayre is my all-time favorite song on it

  • Sweet! Vandraren?

  • Celluloid heroes has simply got to be the WORST BN track I have ever heard. I personally awarded Shadow of the Moon 20 out of 10, that album is AWESOME. Autumn Sky just doesn't hit the anywhere near the mark. I personally award it -5 out of 10. Sorry.

  • I can't help but think that " Celluloid Heroes " is poking fun at Ian & Co. as well as all the other fallen Hollywood idols...

  • @feydivan98 I agree, Celluloid Heroes wasn't my favorite but the rest of the album was wonderful

  • Ritchie Blackmore is as excellent as he was in deep purple and rainbow.

  • Great! Never know the group before. The next album I will buy.

  • VERY GOOD. KAMI ROSHNDEL

  • I looked all over for Blackmores Night cd's in the music stores but they never have any. I guess its cause record stores have bad taste in music anyway...

  • mitici come sempre...........

  • Wonderful album, great music, does it get any better?

  • After listening to this album many times, there are 3 main songs that stick out. Best is Barbara Allen, 2nd place goes to Highland, and 3rd goes to Journeyman. Anybody know what the first video will be?

  • Great Preview can't wait for the CD ! Been of BMN from the begining and EVERYONE I have ever shared thier music with had LOVED it ! Of the songs on the preview I think "keeper of the flame" gives us the BEST example of what Ritchie and Candice do that other renaissance bands never did before them and that was bring a TRUE rock sound to the classic renassance sound ROCK ON BMN and Congrats on the new meber of the family!!! she's beautiful!!!

  • Da haben sich zwei wunderbare Menschen getroffen und ein tolles Album auf den Weg gebracht.

  • Is it just me or does Candice's voice sound a lot different in these new songs?

  • @skullvomit666 - Yep, you're absolutely right. Her voice has matured over time, apart from Cadice having now mastered her voice even better. I sometimes prefer her voice in the earlier recordings, but I'm starting to like how she sounds in Autumn Sky. Her having a child might also have affected her voice.

Incredible how voices change-I've noted that in the voices of a number of friends of mine who sing. Female singers seem to be affected most. Candice's notes sound lower than before.

  • @skullvomit666 - You're absolutely right. Her voice has matured and she has now managed to master her voice perfectly.Age also plays a part, not to mention her having a child probably affected her voice.

Do you notice the difference from her earlier albums?! I almost prefer her 'younger' voice, but I'm getting to like the new album so...I guess it's just part of life.

I noticed many singer's voices that change over ime, particularly females. Candice's notes seems slighty lower nowadays.

  • Bought the new album today, wonderful stuff as usual :))

    Thumbs up !!

  • Oh! A new album! How fantastic! I had no idea that there was a new album on the go...oh, what a lovely surprise haha. =)

  • I'm a little dissapointed to learn that the best songs on the album are not even written by Blackmore. Even the opening track - not written by Blackmore! WTF? Well, at least they are good remakes.

  • @darkstonecastle throughout his career he has borrowed, or stolen as he says himself, from old tunes. also in deep purple (child in time, burn, black night, all not by him originally).

music is a continous living thing, so there is no actual stealing or borrowing. you just play music that what you love and if it is a descendant from something else, so be it.

listen to the song, if you like it, you like it. if not, try another.

  • @rainbowpal3 You should go into politics with a response like that. Sure, you can't help but 'borrow' or be 'influenced' by or 'sound similar to' somebody else. But when the whole song is written by someone else and you redo it...that's just pure laziness.

  • @darkstonecastle did you even read what i typed ;P

he has been doing that for almost 50 years now, why expect something else?

and bach and beethoven did it too, so do countless other bands and musicians, which i am sure you like too. that is music, a continous thing where everyone takes something from other things. check the video of 65 songs with same 4 chords on youtube ;)

and they do it, not because they are lazy, but because they like how it sounds. the horror! hehe.

  • @rainbowpal3 Blackmore,s greatness are not his hits - I mean the framework-melodies and "riffs" (those are only BTW,s and base for playing) -, but His solos, His PLAYING.

So agree with You though from another aspect. Stealth is not nice thing, the "thief" must make others know the original source. (But can happen accidentally too: I played a bit into a work of mine (Say Hey!) from BN,s Circle. Realized only 3 days later, where is that from:)

    And wrote into the info.

    B. forever!

  • @GBWagner1 I think most times Blackmore says exactly where he got it from, in interviews. In fact most fans know where he got it because Ritchie mentioned it first :P

And as you said, as a musician you play something and like it a lot, and think you came up with it. Then you listen to a song you know and you hear it in there. That is the fun thing about music :)

I think most people listen to the song, not solos. In this band Ritchie is playing for the song, not the guitar.

  • YES!!! :D I've always dreamed they would make a cover of Highland - it's a great song and they do it so well! :D And the cover of Vandraren was a nice surprise!

  • Fisrt time i heard the samples i hated them(or most of them)then after playing them over and over i hated it less but after finally hearing the album in it's entirety i started to warm more and more to it to the point now where i think it's on a par with Shadow of the moon(my 2nd favourite album)it is an outsatnding piece of work. The only song i'm a bit dubious about is Celluloid heroes which though not bad is not really fitting for their style of music.Overall though i'd rate the album 9.5/10.

  • To everyone who complains that this doesn't sound like BN's original renaissance music, the term "renaissance" basically means rebirth. In this case, the band can take any style of music and make it into something many people would find interesting.

I for one am excited for this new album and can't wait to buy it. I also like to say; congrats Ritchie and Candice on your new baby girl

  • @sadlobster1 Damn straight!!! I don't care what it sounds more like, I love Blackmore's Night. I love her voice, and I love his guitar. I love their mix of different instruments. I love the blend. They're just amazing.

  • VANDRAREN!

  • oh my God, this is dance music!!!!! poor Ritchie....

  • @ShredMaster79 No poor you if you think this is dance music, go back to homo-erotic Malsteen videos 'Shredmaster'.

  • its average, a few good songs. a few poor. a few fillers. Are they running out of material do you think? still looking foward to a uk tour though...

  • Ok, after hearing the full length of all of the songs 3 or 4 times, I feel much better. This is a good album! It's on par with the rest. Highland and Journeyman are nice and melodic! Night at Eggersberg is a nice instrumental. Darkness is a good one, too, as is Barbara Allen. All the rest of the songs are just average, and some, like 'Keeper of the Flame' just don't cut it. Strangest song is Celluloid Heroes. Great music but terrible lyrics! What this song is doing on this album, I have no idea.

  • This will be another great edition to my complete Blackmore's Night collection.

  • I take it all back.Having listened to the album a few times in it's entirety i have to say it's really excellent & the best material since Fires at midnight though not quite reaching the dizzying heights of Under a violet or shadow of the moon. It's let down only by two tracks.Journeyman though good is a little bit poppy in places(the drums and bass are too prominent creating almost a disco beat)although the solo is to die for and Celluloid heroes?ok song but the lyrics and title are hideous.9/10

  • This preview sounds fantastic. Blackmore's Night continues to produce a great variety of their truly great and unique music. Personally, their only peer in music is the Beatles. I cannot wait until their CD is available in the US.

  • Oh and, maybe its just me, but a joint tour of Blackmore's Night and Blind Guardian would be the most epic thing this Earth has ever seen.

  • This sounds awesomeand great.

For me Blackmore's Night improved with each album, starting with less-good, but still decent first few albums(frankly from the first three albums I only remember Spanish Nights, Storm and Written in the Stars), then, ever sicne Ghost of a Rose this band has been getting better and better.

Oh and i can't help but laugh at people whining in the comments that this recording has not enough castles and guys dressed in medieval clothes playing the flutes. Oh well.

  • Right on! A new album in September!! I can't wait!

  • First few albums were amazing. Incredible. This latest...the same as the last 3. I love BN but by God, I'm bored! Seems I'm not the only one.

  • @ianharkin There is small group of people yes who claim they like Blackmore's Night then critisize the new album to sound like Blackmore's Night. Weird isn't it?

  • Musically, I like it. I'm a huge Blackmore fan and I have nothing but respect for the Legend, but I just can't get past the vocals.

  • Comment removed

  • To everyone who state negative critisisims about this album, let me first say that I respect that all are entitled to their own oppinion. But you're exibiting a sort of behavior that Ritchie calls "Music Snobbery;" where people say that something isn't "true rock," "true country" or in this case "true renaissance folk."

I for one, think the songs in this album sound beautiful and relaxing. Can't wait for it to be released

  • I have to give them credits for song nr 1 and nr 3. As a swede I've a close relation to the original versions and to me those songs are some of the best songs ever preformed by swedish bands. I think it's wonderfull that BN make covers of them - very good choice.

  • Amazing!! They're the best, EVER!

  • I just found out about this band an hour ago while listening to Pandora - I like several of their songs now and this new album sounds like a winner! Thanks for the preview!

  • "Dance of the Darkness" rules! Ritchie still gets the fire in his eyes every now and then and leashes some fury on the Stratocaster!

  • seems like they made it again...looking forward to getting it...

The only thing i dislike about this band is that they never come to Spain...

    ¡Hey there!!! There's life under the Pirinees...yeah...

Thanks for this wonderful music...and congratulations for the baby...the next upcoming angel voice...

  • love the Journeyman tough the original is better

  • *O* ♥ EU PRECISO DESSE CD!!!!! \o/

  • what a crap.

  • Even this music is (and always has been) about love, peace and unity, people are still arguing. This album is dedication to their new baby girl Autumn, not to you selfish, asses. If you're a true "long suffering" fan you would respect that. And about her singing of traffic and boulevards, she sang about telephone and Washington square on Ghost of a Rose. Remember that you so called fans? They eve had pop songs on Shadow of the Moon. Please, if you have any respect left, don't molest their work!

  • @Magnovey If a band chooses to produce an album for their own personal satisfaction and reasons, I can respect that. However, if fans wish to voice their displeasure in the direction that the music is moving, that is also to be respected.

A long time ago there was a band with a singer named Peter. That band was innovative and one might say progressive. Then one day Peter left and the band became commercial and boring. That is when I stopped buying their records. That band was Genesis.

  • awesome!

  • The first few albums were good and I have them all up to The Village Lantern. It made a pleasant change after the Deep Purple and Rainbow stuff but I don't think I'll worry about buying the new album this time. I still haven't got around to buying their last album, Secret Voyage. Just seem to have lost some of the magic and it's getting very repetitive, Sorry.

I hope Blackmore livens up the next albums and brings out the Strat a bit more than usual instead of just the odd track or two.

  • @MrRainbowfan or you can just go listen to rainbow albums while we enjoy this kind of music? he plays the strat there non stop.

  • @rainbowpal3 Thanks for the advice rainbowpal3, I plan on doing just that :-)

btw, Where did I say in my post that I didn't enjoy this kind of music anyway? Just because the new album doesn't do anything for me, that doesn't mean I don't actually like Blackmore's Night and that I have to rush out and buy everything they do.

PS. maybe you would be a likeable chap here if only you stopped giving people your unwanted advice.

So take my friendly advice, and stop giving yours. :-)

  • @MrRainbowfan

who are you fooling? go back to the deep purple videos lad and dont let the door hit you on the way out ;)

    talk about repetitive, hehe.

  • @rainbowpal3 , you have become even more boring and repetitive than Blackmore's Night's latest album...... yawn! :)

  • @MrRainbowfan says the guy trolling the videos of a band he claims is boring, repetitive and not worth buying the album of and then pretends he loves them. hahaha, such a fail troll, you need to work on your act instead of getting angry you got unmasked ;p

  • Wow love track 3 - roll on UK tour!

  • @globalmiduk the original version is way better

  • @globalmiduk . yep my sentiments exactly. seen them twice at workington and newcastle. great nights

  • I love Blackmore's night and i'm so happy to hear about the birth of candice and ritchie's baby. I wish them all the happiness in the world! May god bless them..

  • Unless you are a total Ritchie Blackmore hoop licker you will be attacked here by knuckleheads like rainbowpal3 just because your opinion on the new album is a negative one, and that seems to be a problem with them for some reason.

  • @lcsl1 No, we say, you dont have to like this music at all, that's fine. I don't like Blackmore's Deep Purple garbage for instance, which proves I am not a 'Blackmore hoop licker' or I would love it all.

Just don't keep whining about it like a broken record with retarded arguments and making stuff up, everytime a new album is coming out. It's like the exact same story with you whiners every time, it like reading copy pastes of the last one, lol.

Sounds same? NO SHIT, same songwriters.

  • @Crimee FUCK OFF!!! why don't you go and hump rainbowpal3 or somebody else's leg.

  • @lcsl1 you need to work on these anger issues, seriously, im worried about you now, haha.

by using logic and reason he knocked you out and all you had to say was cuss words IN CAPSLOCK (lol) and advising him to perform homosexual acts XD

do we need more proof your honor?

  • @lcsl1 Haha, are you mad you got no reasonable answer to my simple post?

Pretty pathetic, I hope you are not older than 11 ;)

  • @lcsl1 you can say negative stuff all you want, and we can respond..especially if you talk bullshit...pre-ordered hahaha :3

why do people like you think only you can have your opinion, and thats superior and no one can challenge it or dare to speak against it?

i see in your profile you love frank sinatra..the guy who sang 400 exactly same songs in exactly the same way. songs someone else wrote for him. same goes for everyone else in your favorites list.

    wink wink.

  • @rainbowpal3 You never give up do you? You are one odd individual who feeds off of this kind off argumentative nonsense on social websites, you lick it up like ice cream on a hot summers day, lol. Well, I'm bored with you now. I have better things to do, like listen to my Frank Sinatra CDs. It was nice meeting you, I will miss our little messages. Bye for now you silly litttle idiotic arrogant american ponce . xx

  • @lcsl1 you sound like a totally beaten boy, was nice handing you your ass by showing your hypocrisy ;D

"this blackmores night album sounds the same as their last album, and i love sinatra with the same sounding songs on every album". hahaha.

if you read your own posts you will see you are the arrogant, conceited idiot you claim others to be. we arent even allowed to question you, lol. i am british btw, shows your total lack of judgement and intelligence, from your first post onwards :P

  • The same music as the other records...

  • @sophuslie2010 Here another one, haha. What did you expect? A non-Blackmore's Night album from Blackmore's Night?

Name one band you like who does totally different music every album ;)

  • I realy love the songs :). once agian a wonderful cd :)

  • Wow, other than song 1 & 15, these samples aren't doing much for me. Hope the CD changes my opinion.

  • Why does this album cost so much on Amazon.com?

  • A lot of people like me are just discovering Blackmore's Night. Had I not heard Locked Within The Crystal Ball on The Magic Carpet Ride (Radio Caroline) then I still wouldn't have heard of them so it's all refreshingly interesting stuff to me. Any recommendations for a new fan?

  • Dear Ritchie, What a waste of talent!

  • Comment removed

  • I can't wait!!!

  • After hearing this preview it's made me change my mind and have decided to cancel my pre-order from HMV. I am getting bored with this stuff now after 13 years. The first few albums were great but I just cant' take anymore of this type of music over and over again. Now that Candice is at home looking after the new baby, I live in hope that Blackmore will feel the urge to try something new with his next project and give the "Blackmore's Night" thing a rest for a little while.

  • @lcsl1 you never pre-ordered the album anyhow, stop with the BS.

another butthurt deep purple fan, i assume? get over it already, its been almost 2 decades.

why do types like you always pretend they are fans of BN and "wont buy the new album, sounds same (NO SHIT SHERLOCK), blackmore eats babies at breakfast", blablabla. always the same stuff when a new BN album comes along.

instead of whining about stuff you dont like, go spend your time on something you do enjoy, just a tip chump.

  • @rainbowpal3 Who the hell do you think you are?

Yes I did pre-order the CD from HMV and then duly cancelled my order because I changed my mind after hearing the samples, what the heck has it go to do with you anyway?

You sound like a complete TWAT! and you don't know anything about me so what gives you the right to accuse me of NOT being a Blackmore fan? I have been a fan for 20 years and the first Blackmore's Night album Shadow Of The Moon is one of my favourite albums. So go fuck yourself!!!

  • @lcsl1 Bullshit, the fact you got so angry and butthurt proves it ;P

You pre-ordered jackshit and you are a bitter Deep Purple fan, obviously. Go comment on the 'Gillan still sounds like in the 70s' video, lol.

  • @rainbowpal3

Yes, whatever you say rainbowpal3, but seriously, if this is all you have to do with your time, posting crap messages on youtube..... get a life.

  • @lcsl1 says the guy who started posting crap and got his ass handed to him in replies :P

  • this seems like its a return to form as i personally thought the last alum was disapointing. this seems like a return to form, looking forward to its release. hope they play the north east again

  • Qiero mucho!!!

  • Yay Sake of the Song; it'sone of my favourites ^^ And the other songs are awesome. I especially like the rhythm of "Song and Dance." I wish they sold the albums where I live >o<

  • Dear Ritchie,

    ..............what's happen with you?

Come on and take YOUR white Strat an kick ass this, always the same music.

  • @Pitgamer the problem is people like you, not blackmore.

always the same music? you want him to play the same old rock and roll he did for 30 years, you and people like you who whine about his music now are stuck in the 70s. go listen to malmsteen or some similar shit for that.

while the rest of us enjoy this music he does now.

  • @Crimee I have seen since 1972, EVERY show, played the Ritchie in my area has! Whether DP, Rainbow or B'sN. Unfortunately, he has reached a point that is easy to become tacky. If he and his Combo SOTW, Black Night, Child in Time, Ariel etc. ....... live acts playing the ridiculous! In September he played in my town and I go with B'sN the first time to no more Blackmore concert because I have no pleasure in the harlequin köstüm rumturnen front of the stage MUST be!

  • @Pitgamer Then stop going to his shows and stop buying his albums, and don't waste your own time and energy complaining about something you don't like :P

Your opinion is like that, fine, it is your right. My opinion is, his music is better now than during the 80s and 90s. Only Burn album and his Rainbow albums til 1979 are better. Just my opinion too :P

So I am lucky I like what he does now and enjoy it fully.

  • I have a problem, some of the songs sound exactly the same as some on the other albums, and the one's that don't are really commercial sounding. I love this band, but this album disappoints me, Damn, I was really looking forward to this one.

  • @truthfinder1078

this is blackmores night, expect blackmore's night songs? and this sounds like classic blackmores night. so i don't see how you can love blackmores night (as you claim) and then say, 'hey i dont like this, it sounds like blackmores night.'

i am excited for the album because it sounds like the blackmores night i dig. they keep getting better at what they do every album.

  • @Crimee I agree; I wish I could go to Germany to see them perform live. Guess I'll be able to in two years once I finish school

  • @Crimee I have a problem when they take one song and make it pretty much the same as the next. I play music and have a good ear. A lot of things are repeated over and over again in the music. It's good to stick to the style, but not repeat yourself over and over again. But, if you say so.....

  • @truthfinder1078 i used to listen to deep purple, then i thought they started sounding lame and predictable (even when ritchie was in the band), so i stopped listening to them, never whined about how they should do this and that and i know better than the band members themselves...especially blackmore. lol.

i hope blackmore night keep doing what they do, which on this album they seem to be doing. every band uses the same formula to write songs, so your argument is irrelevant.

  • @truthfinder1078 You mean like every band?

I'm a musician for 20 years too and yes they use the same progressions in some songs (because they work really well), but so does every other band. The ones who do it best are even the most succesful.. AC/DC and The Stones for example. How about Bach? Identical music theory.

But even in the things that sound the same, Blackmore changes things, small ones, but still your good ear should hear them ;)

Why fix something if it ain't broken.

  • @Crimee Because I don't want to waste my money on songs that have been recycled. Taking an old song and making small little changes and trying to sell it as a new song does not cut it for me. But hey, that's just me, just my opinion, not eveyone is going to agree with that.

  • @truthfinder1078 You ignored his point. You talked how they recycle, his rebuttal was every band does, even a composer like Bach does (which was a very good point).

So I assume, in your CD collection there is not 1 band, not 1 CD which has the same kind of songs on it. You must have 6 CDs tops! Hehe.

Name your favorite bands and let's see how diverse they are and how every album they write totally new songs and nothing was used from earlier songs ;P

Like he said, why fix if not broken.

  • @truthfinder1078 I agree with rainbowpal3, you ignored what I said :P

Let us hear your favorite bands which never use the same music theory in other songs, because you said you don't waste your money on albums of bands who do.

    I know you won't find any ;)

Fact is, you just don't like Blackmore's Night style, which is fine, seriously, Nobody has to like it. This is this band's style, always has been since the first album, it won't change anytime soon either. Just like all other bands :P

  • @Crimee You definitely like to argue, you remind me of my sister in law. Dude it's just my opinion.

  • @truthfinder1078 if you dont like people commenting on your opinions, dont post maybe?

you claimed things like 'i dont spend money on music that sounds the same and blackmore just does the same thing in songs'. well we just asked, ok, enlighten us with bands you like who do never do the same things in their songs.

you ignored that, like other things.

instead you took a shot at him, that he reminds you of your arguing sister? how about just answering the question ;)

  • @rainbowpal3 Never said I did not like comments, just don't understand the anger, over an opinion. I can argue back and forth with who ever, but my opininion is not going to change. Cheer up, my friend, I'm not reading anymore comments. Lots of Angry people out there, can't get caught up in that. Love and Light

  • @truthfinder1078 Lol, you seem the only angry one though?

Point was your opinion which doesn't make sense if you can't back it up ;P

I am not arguing, I just asked you to name some bands you like who don't recycle songs. You did not mention one in any replies, which means your argument of not liking this is hogwash. There is not 1 band who doesn't recycle and as a musician you know this.

Then you compared me with your sister in law...so who is arguing, haha.

  • @truthfinder1078 anger? where?

    LOL.

all that happened was you not answering simple questions to prove you were truthful in your first post, you failed, threw in the towel :P

  • OMG I need to listen this cd

Blackmore's Night is so magic *-*

  • Comment removed

  • Nr.1 & 3 is swedish songs. :)

  • can't wait!!! :))

  • most people who whine here and claim how they are huge BN fans but dont like this are in fact grumpy deep purple groupies who want him to play smoke on the water 3 hours in a row at a concert. go get laid or something.

at least 7 songs on this seem just ace, 4-5 are good and a few fillers, the poppy ones.

    cant wait!

  • I can't wait for this CD, i've been such a fan of BN for soooo long! This comes out on my birthday, what a perfect present!!

  • No matter how much one might wish it, there was never a hope that BN would recreate the joyous innocence and inspirational melodies of Under a Violet Moon on the new album. However, despite the covers, and ample evidence that Candice's voice isn't suited to rock, I'm not too disappointed by the samples.

Musically, Blackmore's Night has always suffered from multiple personality disorder. As OldSchl4evr said, they should be true to their renaissance roots and not be chasing old Rainbow fans!

  • @pizzwick most fans of blackmore's night dont even care for deep purple or rainbow, is a fact that you would realize too if you actually went to their shows.

yes theres always a small group of drunk balding old sour grapes with ac/dc tshirts screaming for black night throughout the show like their life depends on it, but they are a relatively small group. they can go to a rock band which this is not.

and these songs dont sound rainbow at all, they sound blackmore.

  • *O* OMGDDSS! I WANNA THIS CD!

  • Autumn Sky seems entertaining. It has much bravata for whatever tis worth.

  • I agree with some saying that some of the magic is "missing" and believe me I am the worlds biggest Blackmore fan! I just hope their is some better listening ahead.

Tracks # 9 and #13 sound pretty good though.

I like good music not witches and warlocks!

  • Oh my God , I love it so much! I can't wait to have it!

  • The people who like this album are always against the people who dislike the album saying things like 'shut up' or "don't say anything if you don't like it".

I'm a hug BN fan, HUGE but I don't like what i hear so far. I think it's far from what they were producing on the first 3 or 4 albums. Candice is a good singer but I prefer the innocence on the first few albums. But hey, it's not about her, It's about the genius RB

  • cant wait for it to come out

  • This is definitely not the same band i enjoyed back with the first couple albums, i already didn't like the shift to more rock style, but geeee, the pop stuff is even worse.

  • This album will be great, I can already feel that Blackmore's Night magic! :) Looking forward to it. Autumn melodies... Missed you guys. :)

  • The problem with this band is that it is reluctant to embrace the sound that distinguishes them from other bands. They have created their own genre, which is Renaissance Folk Rock, which resonates with many that are tired of commercial pop. Yet they seem to embrace more of a pop style on this album. This is a mature band with mature fans that seek something different and with depth, both lyrically and musically. Singing about being in traffic and walking down hollywood boulevard?

  • i can't really believe that some people say the magic's gone, the medieval thing is gone, it is not! absolutely! blackmore's night is still the same magic, medieval band as they were 12 years ago. and this new CD is truly amazing, i loved the sample.

  • @guirocos That the magic is gone is one opinion..that it's not gone, is another opinion :) Won't get into an argument about it. I prefer to listen to their songs from the first 3 albums..their newer albums sound different and still good, but different, and that "magic" that I loved about them comes through the most from their first 3 albums. I am looking forward to hear the whole cd though..and I am hoping to be positively shocked since I love them so much otherwise. :)

  • @guirocos I know; I showed my friend one of there songs and he's into celtic stuff, so he really enjoyed it (Ironically I didn't show him 'Celtic Song')

  • I wonder..Sir Blackmore's not getting any younger, he's in his '60s!! How long before he won't be with us anymore? Hopefully it won't happen for a while - but when it does, w/ this new "style" Candice+ the rest of BN will be able to go on w/o a drastic change. It feels like He's like a last guitar accord played, its voice slowly fading out and dieing down. He's taking less and less place in the band, maybe for a reason? I hope Im wrong. I love Candice too btw! And this is just a thought..weird..

  • I kind of agree with others, they're indeed moving towards commercial mainstream music..however if mainstream popular music had nice lyrics like these, I'd listen to commercial music a little more ;) It's not necesserily a bad thing to bring back true feelings and sound to the commercial music world..

BUT..This is THE BN we're talking about..the medieval-ness, the rennie magic, the chill that runs down on your spine from the haunting sounds..IS missing :( I loved them for that unique mood..

  • Sweet voice - special music to someone who just discovered B.N. !

  • Wasn't expecting that Kinks obscuro! Didn't I hear they'd recorded a cover of Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon?

  • @barttheanorak Not quite. They performed a short (2 minute) live version of 'Rhiannon' during a concert. I had hoped they would actually record it.

I still hold out hope they may one day cover 'Scarborough Fair'...

  • @SilverWolfMoon

Wow, that would be an awesome recording. Having spoken to Candice, she loves the music of Stevie Nicks! A duet between Stevie and Candice...well!

  • (Part 3)

Sake of the Song sounds the most like old Blackmore's Night, but while I'm not sure if this song is identical to the old version, they've already recorded it a decade ago! Their choice of covers is unfortunate to say the least with the likes of Highland and Journeyman rearing their ugly heads. Some of the other covers are better, with Celluloid Heroes being a great song in its original incarnation, but I can already see that Blackmore's Night didn't do it justice.

  • (Part 2)

To their credit, Candice still sounds nice, as does Ritchie (at least from what I can hear in the samples), but the songs are too stylistically removed from their old albums. They've already moved in this direction on a fair chunk of The Village Lanterne (which was, unsurprisingly, my least favorite BN album until now) and then they rebounded with Secret Voyage. But it seems that was only a temporary return to form since this sounds so relentlessly commercial.

  • (Part 1)

I hate to say it, but this doesn't sound like Blackmore's Night anymore. There's maybe 5-6 songs that sound like their old self and the rest of it is just too commercial for my liking. There's almost no magic left, none of that mystical feeling... both the medieval and renaissance influences have almost completely been banished. It's disheartening. I'm not even sure what to call this... pop/rock? Pop/folk? New age? All of the above?

  • From listening the samples i can hear they go to a more commercial sound

    and i dont like that.

But i shall wait with my final verdict till the full product lays in the shops.

  • i didn't like this new album! it's not Blackmore's Night, it's fake!!! where is shadow of the moon... or under a violet moon... or ghost of a rose? i don't want to listen pop! no old soul, no support!

  • Comment removed

  • great but i still think Shadow of the Moon is their best album

  • @icantellgoodfrombad

Yes that's an excellent album. My favourite is Fires at midnight, but I think they haven't made weak material. So far. Their albums are different but all of them contain quality music. The new one is similar to their last album but more emotional and it's absolutely understood. Having a baby could be a fantastic feeling. Their music reflects this great event. First of all they're human who have emotions and they express themselves in their music..

  • It's a good BN album. I really like it. Why do they make a record like their former ones? And don' forget it's just samples on the net. Buy the cd and enjoy their music!

Some reviews here are simly ridicoulus. .., those music geniuses...

  • Just from the samples I've heard, it appears as if the magic and uniqueness which defined earlier BN albums is missing. The emotional connection which was present on the songs Ghost of a Rose and Diamonds and Rust sadly gone too. I like ballads, but the lyrics have to be relevant and connect to the listener. I recently discovered Tina Dico and her songwriting is amazing. Some of the songs on this current album are a little to slick, pop, and techno for my taste.

  • Celluloid Heroes? WTF is Ritchie thinking here?

  • Well the audio bit rate sounds abominably low ... like 92kbps ? What a horrible way to sample music.

That said, it sounds like they've gone off the deep end with this album and abandoned themselves to sappy estrogen-addled schlock ballads. This'll go over big with German hausfrau, but no one else.

Well crap, I guess I'll have to wait another 4 years to see if they can do better.

  • Candise can really sing, pregnant or not. If it's not your taste - ok but shut up!!!

  • Early innocent, raw Blackmores Night were amazing. The past 3 albums are all the same obviously not the amazing RB instrumentals!

Candice Night in her ballads has a lovely sweet voice but in her main uptempo songs sounds like the club singer.

I've just heard the samples of the latest and had to turn it off. Everything sounds the same!!!

I am a HUGE Ritchie fan and have met him and Candice on a personal level 5 or 6 times but come on guys, give us something different. A few songs with input f

  • All BN albums are worth having 'cause there's going to be at least a few incredible instrumentals by the masterful, Ritchie Blackmore!

  • @guitarslinger32269

that's it - let's listen to the album itself - judging by those preview snippets makes no sense for a review at all!

  • part 3 I find the music very soothing, airy and beautiful. If it was not BN, I'd definitely accept it as is, beautiful and unique in this day and age, lifts your soul.. Maybe I hoped for a little more speed or energy that I am missing from latest BN songs - not trying to trash the direction they're going, I love it, but on a different way..At any rate, welcome to the world Autumn Esmeralda! Your parents are giving a great gift for you. People should respect it even if they don't care for it. :(

  • (part 2).

Now all that being said, let me say that I was a fan of BN for almost 10 years and I love them still, I was eager to hear the new material. I've only listened to the previews twice and I am looking forward to hear the full songs atleast multiple times before I voice any true opinion..BUT..Something IS indeed missing for me as of right now, it didn't even sound like Candice's voice and the songs seem to lack their energy and sound this time. Maybe bc the cd was written to lil Autumn?

  • @jonybeam

I am 38 weeks pregnant. My voice had changed during my 23 week. I find it hard to sing anything right now. So, if Candice can sing, I give her credit. Remember, she was pregnant during the album. So, if her voice is not the same in their other albums, there's a reason. I think the album sounds terrific. I can't wait to hear more.

  • @AidenVincent But.... Candise can't sing, pregnant or not!

  • Comment removed

  • @AidenVincent well then they should have waited until after she gave birth & then record because if i'm gonna spend money on this cd i expect everybody to be performing at their very best and in tip top condition. Also it would have given them plenty of time to reflect hard about the inclusion of utter commercial nonsense such as the journeyman celluloid heroes("walk down hollywood boulevard"?what's going on) keeper of the flame & highland.Their not what they were i'm afraid, begining to sell out.

  • I don't know why all these immature people like to congregate at BN music. Don't like the style? Then move on! Seriously, there are many talented people I don't listen to simply bc I don't care for their style. Life is too short to love all the good things we want, why would you want to waste yours by hating on things? Do you seriously think Ritchie should serve YOUR musical taste? You'll find plenty of bands that will, leave the man alone! He's not out there to please you if you haven't noticed!
