skaters work out their asses while jumping, exercises, and other training. even just skating around is a work-out. i think even falling also makes their asses big, i wouldn't know. some skaters take dance classes, such as ballet or lyrical. that also works out their legs and butt. even the women in skating look hot with big asses.

All skate blades are flat on the bottom, but figure skating blades also have small sharp spikes at the toe called picks, which allow the skater to stop or change direction. Hockey skate blades are curved and have no picks.

The pressure of one's body weight on the blade actually melts a very thin layer of ice, causing it to become slippery water, allowing you to slide on it.

As for balance, it takes practice. Everyone falls sometime.

You are correct in your counting, but axels have a half rotation more than their name implies, because they take off forwards, unlike all other figure skating jumps. So a single axel would have 1.5 rotations, a double axel would have 2.5, etc. ;-)

Try learning a triple axel (as shown in the video) before you decide if figure skating or hockey is "tougher". You have no idea the physical abuse taken throughout the life of a skater.  Most skaters spend years and sustain UNCOUNTABLE injuries learning their triple jumps, and many injure themselves beyond repair before being able to achieve them.

Unless you've played both professional hockey and competed in elite figure skating, there's no way you'd be able to make the decision yourself.

@JadedLilth Amen! When I was younger I suffered lacerations that require stitches and a hematoma from falling down on jumps. Figure skating is a beautiful, but difficult and dangerous sport.
