Watching this when i was a kid inspired me to build my bike archangel. todays supermotard just doesnt seem as fast or as exciting.

Bikes: the flat track guys rode Rotax engined stuff: 540- 600CC dirt track frames with slightly longer suspension. early years, some rode Harley XR750s

The MX guys mostly used 490-500cc two stroke MX bikes with dirt track size wheels & disc brakes added. Later 500-600-630cc Honda XRs, Yamaha TT500s, etc.

Lots of experimentation early on, specialty hardware and pieces everywhere, the factories all fought and spent hard for the win, made for fascinating tours of the pits.

I love this old school action. Supercross is just boring because its just to tight of a course. I love the High speed action that is shown here.
