my parents used to play this in the car when i was younger, but now aged nearly 20 im the one taking the cd and putting it on in my own car, love it and appreciate it so much more now
im not patriot but christy makes me happyvto be irish. i lived in europe and this album is my childhood, my parents and sentimentality for where i come.
few pints in, im singing like a fucking songbird. :)
i was in liverpool for aweek , an im sad to say , dat in 2010 its still the same , every were i went as soon as they heard my dublin accent ..... i was a murderer or a spy . . . so its hasnt changed since ....
@antohonyp was in liverpool with me mate 2009 and got nothing but love and the two of us have heavy dublin accents, out in the clubs we had lads buying us drinks and having a laugh with us, and the birds were very friendly loved our accents, so dunno maybe was just u?
@antohonyp - I've been in England loads of times and thats never ever happened to me. Maybe if you are a negative person you'll bring negative vibes with you.
I agree with some earlier post..this Live at the Point is far better than the later album he made there. I have both..but this is the one for me. Thanks dazoo.
This book reflects the type of life sung about in the song 'Missing You' 'Hard Shoulder' tells the story of a young Irishman, McBride, who does what so many have done before him by becoming a builders' labourer in England, and later Germany, in the late 70s and early 80s. It's partly based on the author's own experiences and it details what to many will seem a hard, unpredictable life. Its characters are labourers and the odd girlfriend and the time is Thatcher's Britain.'
@dazoo77 I can identify with what you are saying dazoo. I have been contracting all my life, and the last time I actually worked in my home town of Glasgow was 1980. When Tebbutt told us all to "get on our bikes" if you can't find employment at home, I could've strangled the bastard !!! Thanks again for posting..wonderful stuff !!! : ) PS..I done the stint in the old West Germany too..long before Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
fridge, the bridge, laugh alot less, cry til a die....nae fuckin wonder destitution appeals tae us commoners...christy relates us a poetic verse of hope, a man of power voice, altruism and basic freedoms we all deserve. fuck the rich.

My favourite ones on this live album are Delirius Tremens, Casey and the Knock song. Especially the jokes I can also understand now.
